On October 8, 2021, the entire US government was shaken to its core when a diplomatic delegation arrived from another world. Surprisingly, the aliens came not from flying saucers or massive spaceships, but from portal embedded in the door of a previously-abandoned cabin in the small Connecticut town of Gravesfield. After undergoing negotiations and establishing relations with the diplomats from this other world, known as the Demon Realm or the Boiling Isles, President Joseph Robinette Biden Jr. of the United States of America formally signed a treaty of friendship between the United States of America and the Federal Republic of the Boiling Isles on December 17, 2021.
Immediately, the whole world freaked out. Some countries were afraid and demanded for the newly-discovered magical beings to be exterminated, while others saw magickind as potential friends and partners. In the music industry, record labels were eager to expand into the new Boiling Isles market, but soon discovered the music tastes of the Demon Realm meant most pop music from the Human Realm completely flopped, with many witches from the former Bard Coven calling it "boring and bland, as would be expected from humans". However, everything changed on May 28, 2022, when the discography of Green Day was released to the Boiling Isles.
The very next week, the recently-reestablished record charts of the Boiling Isles would be flooded by every Green Day album occupying the top 14 spots, including Shenanigans at number 9. Despite the band being seen as long past their prime in the Human Realm, to the Demon Realm they were the greatest cultural phenomenon since the coven system was established over 50 years prior. Though Green Day was still on the Hella Mega Tour, originally planned for 2020 before being delayed by the Covid-19 pandemic, millions of young witches were clamoring to see their new favorite band in concert. With so much popular demand beckoning them, Reprise Records was eventually able to convince Green Day to do a short 6-concert tour in the Boiling Isles right after finishing the tour, before returning to record their next album.
If Beatlemania was bad enough without every fan having magical abilities, imagine how much worse Green Day-nia was going to be.
