Raine, Darius, Eberwolf, and Luz sat around a square table in a newly-rebuilt conference room, the office of the Provisional Government of the Boiling Isles. The Day of Unity, the Collector, and the defeat of Belos had left the Boiling Isles in complete shambles, but while the remnants of the former Construction Coven were leading the rebuilding of infrastructure, the leaders of the CATs began the process of building a new government entirely from scratch.
Too bad none of them had any experience with democratic government except for Luz.
Raine: "So, who's gonna be the new emperor?"
Darius: "Honestly, why do we even need an emperor? Personally, I'm through with the monarchy now that Belos is finally gone."
Eberwolf nodded in agreement.
Luz: "Yeah, Darius is right. In the Human Realm, we don't have kings and emperors and stuff."
Raine: "Interesting... so what sort of government do you have in the Human Realm, Luz?"
Eberwolf: "Grrh rah hrarh?!" [Or is it anarchy like Eda prefers?]
Luz: "Haha, no no, we- we do have a government. I don't know exactly how it works, but I think I have a general idea of it: there's the president, the vice president, and Congress, and every 4 years everyone gets together to vote for them. My mom probably knows more about it than me though."
Darius: "Right. I'll go get her in then."
Darius went to retrieve Camila, and she explained the structure of the United States' government, as well as the fact that the Human Realm was divided into almost 200 countries and that many of them had different systems of government than the US system. Apparently, schools in the Human Realm had a class that taught this stuff, Luz just wasn't paying attention.
Camila: "So, everyone clear?"
Raine: "Yes. Thank you, Mrs Noceda."
Camila: "Great! I think I'll go check on the Collector, see if they're done with the new portal."
Luz: "Thanks for the help, mom!"
Camila: "No problem, mija."
Darius: "So, motion to adopt the three-branches structure of government?"
Raine: "Seconded. Although, I propose that we establish an retirement age for Supreme Court justices rather than having them serve for life, considering the existence of age-related degenerative diseases."
Eberwolf: "Rrh grr hrg rah grar hrah!" [Also, term limits to prevent corruption!]
Luz: "You know, I think I actually did read about this stuff on the internet."
Darius: "You mean the astranet?"
Luz: "No, the internet's what we call it in the Human Realm."
Darius: "Interesting..."
Raine: "Alright then, so let the record show that the Provisional Government has decided to adopt a constitutional federal republican system."
Raine wrote down a summary of the decision in a notebook, then they moved the discussion forward.
