Work Text:

Danny watched as the plate of cookies slowly floated up into the air. Not the plate just the cookies. He sighed and sat down at the table as they started glowing the signature green of food that had gotten possessed by ectoplasm. Normally it was only meat products that got the coming back to life treatment, but recently there had been some others. Mainly ones that had dairy or eggs in them.

He thought Sam had something to do with it.

The cookies had eyes pop out and grew mouths. With tiny sharp pointy teeth. The kind he could tell would feel like needles when they bit into his skin. Yet all Danny did was continue to sit and watch them fly around the kitchen. It might as well happen. They didn't seem inclined to attack him yet, so why bother doing anything.

There was a thermos ready and waiting for the moment they decided to do anything more. But there was something hypnotic about the cookies flying about. They were making such nice swirly patterns through the air and he felt bad stopping them too early. They were just going to be destroyed once he caught them. He had made them to be enjoyed. Their whole purpose was to make him feel better. So they would even if it wasn't because he got to eat them.

Eventually he got tired of watching them by craning his neck. So he got down on the floor and just continued to watch. The movements were even more soothing from that angle. Not even the cackling that the cookies started was able to take away from the feeling of calm that he was getting from them.

"Do I want to know what's going on?" Jazz asked, concern in her voice from the doorway of the kitchen.

"The cookies I made started flying. I'm being soothed by them," Danny said. "They are making nice patterns to watch."

"Okay," Jazz said slowly. "Do you need anything?"

"Nope. I'm good."

He was good. It was the most relaxed he had been in ages. Who knew all it would take to calm him was a bunch of cookies being possessed and flying in his kitchen?

Suddenly Jazz was with him on the floor and watching the cookies as well. He didn't say anything and for a long moment she didn't either.

"You're right. This is weirdly soothing."

"The cookies know what they are doing."

They just continued to lay there and watch. Just a pair of teens and the flying cookies that only they would find so little distress in.
