Work Text:

The nervous man sat on the velvet padded seat, his foot tapping the marble floor at an increasingly fast speed.

The dirty soles of his shoes had left a trail on the fancy floor of Quackitys personal office. Slime was observing him, blinking slowly and looking like he was containing himself.

The man tried to avoid the green creatures gaze.

Quackity wanted to let him be nervous a little while more. He was the one that decided to fall on the newly arranged greenery near Quackitys house.

The duck really hadn’t wanted to wake up to the sound of Slime yelling for him.

Slime broke the silent torture.

“Quackity from Las Nevadas do we kill him?” The cheery tone asked while the slimy finger touched the strangers face.

“Not for now.” Quackity said as he held his hand up as a signal to stop. “We have to figure out who he is first.”

The man moved slightly away from Slime’s finger, he didn’t seem to be looking in any specific spot, most likely just trying to avoid Quackitys gaze.

Quackity snapped his fingers.
“I’m giving you a chance to explain yourself, I could just throw you in prison for tresspassing.”

The strangers mouth moved hesitantly.

“My, my name is Luzu.” The stuttering didn’t seem shy, more like he was trying to focus on what to say.

“From where?” Slime tilted his head to the side.

Luzu seemed confused by that question.

“Answer him.”

“Uh from Karmaland.” Quackity noticed a slight accent as the man talked. Maybe English wasn’t his first language?

“Luzu from Karmaland!” Slime said with a cheery tone to his voice, he turns to look at Quackity. “Quackity from Las Nevadas, do we kill him now?”

The duck looks at the brown haired man as he scrambles to find anything to say in his defense.

He holds his hand up again.

“Calm down, I’m not killing you. At least not yet.” Quackity moves away from his desk and gestures for the other men to follow him as he leaves the office.

“Do you know where you are?”

Luzu follows behind, he considers trying to stay next to the other man but decides otherwise.

He looks around, trying to find anything familiar, he thinks that the buildings around him look like something built by Vegetta, he doesn’t think they were though.

“No.” He settles.

“You’re in Las Nevadas, a country built to create entertainment to its citizens. It’s also the country that I run.”

Quackity stops suddenly. The sun is just coming up, he looks at the two other men, the sun shines behind him. The golden light hits his back, Luzu feels even more intimidated than before.

He feels like looking away, but beauty is quite difficult to look away from unfortunately.

“And you aren’t supposed to be here.”

Luzu breaks out from his thoughts when he hears Quackitys voice again.

“I’m not sure how to get back.” He looks away.

Quackity starts walking back again, this time Slime walks next to him. The slime whispers in the duck's ear something that Luzu can’t make out.

He walks behind both of them.

“Where are we going?”

“To get you a temporary room.”

“…Why?”

“Quackity from Las Nevadas is going to send a message to Philza Minecraft!”

“Who?”

“An old man who knows more than most of the people in this place, unfortunately.”

“How does that relate to the room?”

“Because he’s going to take some time coming here, we’re getting you a room so you’re not homeless.” Quackity says in an exasperated tone, “It’s a luxury hotel, so you can’t complain too much about it.”

So Luzu doesn’t, he follows both men to the hotel and watches as the duck hybrid talks to one of the ladies at the front desk.

The hotel is black and white with small golden details everywhere, everything about it exudes luxury. Luzu feels underdressed just standing in the main lobby.

His shoes still had some dirt on them, he tries to brush it out by rubbing his foot against his jeans. It doesn’t work.

Slime calls him, he follows. Luzu feels like he’s been following people around too much since he got here.

He’s trusting these people blindly, the people that considered killing him just a few minutes ago. He really hasn’t learned his lesson.

But what option does he have?

So he follows.

The elevator ride was silent except for Slime’s constant rambling about random things that Quackity seemed to just nod along to.

When they finally got to their destination, Quackity left the elevator first.

“I rented this whole floor, I’ll stay in the room next to yours and Slime will be staying with you. Philza will probably bring some extra reinforcements with him so he gets the other two rooms.”

Luzu looked around the floor, there were only four rooms. He opened one of the doors to see, what looked like, a fully functional apartment.

From the entrance he could see a big living room as well as the dining room. Is this really just a hotel? This looks better than most of the houses in Karmaland’s village.

He turns back to look at Quackity, the man who paid for all of this, “Why? You could’ve just rented one of the cheaper rooms.”

Quackity looked confused, like he just asked a stupid question that had an obvious answer, which to him, probably did.

“Why would I? It’s easier to keep you here, there’s no reason for you to leave the hotel room now.” He waved his hand around as he talked. “And I’m not staying in one of the lower rooms.”

“Does… Slime have to stay with me then?”

“He’s going to be making sure you don’t do anything stupid.” Quackity looked at Slime and smiled. A small smile, a smile for sure. “He’ll only be staying with you during the night anyways. I trust you won’t do anything during the day with so many people around.”

Luzu wasn’t really planning on doing anything, if this guy was going to get in contact with someone that could send him back, he shouldn’t really do anything dumb.

“Plus I’m going to set up a simple job for you to do during the day.” Quackity added as an afterthought.

“Huh?” Luzu looked at him with a shocked expression. “I thought you didn’t want me to leave the hotel!”

“Ideally, you wouldn’t leave, but you’re going to stay here for a month, minimum. No person can stay locked up here that long without getting antsy. So you’ll leave during the day to work.”

It did make sense when he put it like that, but he also just didn’t want to work. He was tired, sue him.

“I’ll give you a week to get used to this place, I’ll walk you to your job until you know the route afterwards.”

And like that. Quackity left the apartment and locked the door.
