Loud. It's so loud.
A child, for that is what a 14 year old is, sitting in the doorway on a rooftop. Wind was tearing around, howling. The cold feels so nice, but the rain makes it freeze.
At least the raindrops mask the tears running down their face. You may be asking "Why would a child be sitting outside in these conditions? Why are they crying?" More importantly, you should ask, "Why are they muzzled?"
Yamada, Hizashi. Age 14. Quirk: Loud. Foster kid since the age of 5 and currently sitting on the roof of their current placement crying silent tears - not that they would be heard if they were attempting to be loud - and covering their ears.
Some would think based on Yamada's quirk their body would have made accommodations to their ears. Those people would be correct, but not in the way you may think. Instead of ears able to withstand loud noises, such as what their quirk made them capable of creating, Yamada's ears had range and were incredibly sensitive to any noise not created by their quirk.
This fact was discovered very quickly.
This fact was easily used against them.
It was the reason that despite losing a significant portion of their hearing by the age of 14, the noises of the ongoing storm, yelling going on downstairs, the neighbours television show, and a myriad of other noises occurring in the city still caused them to be crying in pain.
At least they got accepted to UA?
~~~
It is hard. So hard. Keeping up this persona.
But it's better to be the odd one out on purpose.
Headphones that look cool, but for ear protection.
A loud personality for a loud quirk.
At least they made a friend in Shirakumo, Oboro?
~~~
Befriending the Gen Ed kid from the Sports Festival was hard, but worth it.
Aizawa, Shouta was standoffish, acerbic, and yet, so quiet.
He was also observant. Sometimes he would tell Oboro to be quiet because he had a headache... Usually, it was Hizashi with the headache, not that they ever said so. Shouta was the one who would initiate the quiet times. Pulling the other two to just silently exist in each other's space. And if Hizashi started sending Shouta hesitant but grateful smiles each time? Well, Oboro may have noticed. But that's okay because Shouta and Oboro had become Hizashi's Safe.
It was freeing.
If only they had met sooner.
At least they would all be in the same class soon enough?
~~~
It hurt. It hurt so much.
But they needed to be strong.
They didn't know if they could.
They had grown so much in the past year. Things had been going well.
They hung out so often that Zashi got away from his placement enough to avoid most punishments. Shou and Oboro were their rock. All three were growing stronger too - going to make a real difference when they graduate.
But now it was Zashi's turn to be Shouta's rock because Shouta was still staring into space as if he was still watching Oboro fall.
Oboro was gone.
Shouta was breaking.
Hizashi was crying, silent.
They would be strong.
For Shouta - stoic, in shock, blaming himself.
For Oboro - smiling, laughing, laying broken under the rubble.
Zashi could do this. They could focus through the pain, just like always...
At least Shouta wasn't gone too.
