Chapter 1: Chapter 1: Found a Bond

Chapter Text

It wasn’t uncommon for Izuku Midoriya to make friends with random kids on the playground, mostly as long as Bakugou wasn’t around, that is. So when he came across a lonely, dark haired boy, he brought the boy over to his mom, who welcomed the young boy with a friendly demeanor. Izuku didn’t have many friends, and he certainly didn’t have any siblings, hell, he didn’t even know his father. He simply lived with his mother.
“Momma? Can Tenko stay the night?” Izuku asked his mother, with a pleading look in his eyes, he really wanted to spend some more time with his new friend. Inko Midoriya looked around the park, it had been getting late and the only people at the park now were herself, Tenko, and Izuku. After a very… Well… Depressing conversation with the dark haired boy, Inko took it upon herself to take the young boy in, at least for a bit. Maybe there was something on the news about a young Tenko being missing from a loving family? God she hoped he was simply missing and not abandoned. He seemed to be in good health, but how long had he been at that park? Inko couldn’t get the thought of the young boy not knowing where to go and simply wandering to a park out of her mind. After the three of them got back to the Midoriya’s home, Tenko and Izuku went to play while Inko made dinner for the three of them. In Izuku’s room, Tenko was afraid to touch anything, for fear it would simply crumble to dust in his hands. His quirk had only manifested a couple of months ago– Same time he was abandoned.
Izuku noticed the hesitation of the other.
“Tenko?” He asked with his head tilted to the side, looking worried about the boy.
“Hm?” Tenko hummed, looking at him, subconsciously scratching at his arm. Izuku watched Tenko for a few moments, before he turned to the dresser and grabbed a pair of gloves, extending them to the young boy.
“These might help! I know you said you can’t control your quirk yet, so maybe wearing these can help?” He offered. Tenko looked down at the gloves, then back up at Izuku. He was so confused on why Izuku and his mother had been so nice to him.. He was a bad kid! He didn’t deserve to have someone be nice to him. So why now? Tenko slowly took the gloves, being careful not to touch them with all five fingers, they were black gloves that didn’t have all of the fingers, artist gloves. Inko had gotten them for Midoriya when he expressed interest in drawing, however they weren’t used as much as either of them thought they would be. Tenko slipped the gloves onto his hands, looking down at his hands curiously. Izuku brought over an old children’s book he had long since abandoned and held it out to the other boy.
“Try ‘em out!” Izuku suggested. Tenko looked at the book warily, his red eyes flicking between the book and Izuku a few times before he slowly reached for the book. When his fingers made contact with the book, Tenko instinctively flinched, his eyes screwed shut, waiting to simply feel air beneath his fingers, but it didn’t happen. The dark haired boy opened one eye to peek out to see the book was still intact, with all five fingers touching it. Tenko slowly lifted his hand up from the book and looked at his palm, the glove worked. It.. it worked! A small smile made its way onto the young boy’s face.
“Thank you, Izuku.” He mumbled softly. Izuku simply smiled wide, giving the young boy a side hug as he tossed the book onto his bed.
“My mom said you can stay here for a bit, it’s gonna be so much fun!” Izuku chimed, letting out a soft giggle. The kid was practically bouncing on his feet, the only other person he really spent time with aside from his mom was Bakugou, and god knows how he acts. This was a refreshing change, that’s for sure. Soon the two boys were called for dinner, and after dinner, Inko had watched the two interact. It was nice to see Izuku getting along with someone other than Katsuki, the two seemed to have similar interests of heroes, Izuku even confided his lack of developing his quirk yet to the other boy. It was a nice sight– seeing another child treat him like a person, not like some act of science because he didn’t have a quirk. Or at least not yet. There was still hope.
Inko continued to watch the two boys interact, watching them play a game on the TV, the two seemed to have an instant bond, like brothers almost.
Like brothers…
This seemed to spark a thought in Inko’s brain, she knew what she wanted– no, needed to do now. She couldn’t bear the thought of forcing the young boy without a home. So from now until he could find his family, He was now a part of the family. She would see to it personally that his needs and wants were met, just like Izuku’s were.
