Chapter Text

Minji adjusted the audio settings while Haerin focused the camera lens on her. Behind them, the imposing silhouette of the abandoned hospital loomed against the darkening sky. Vines snaked up the cracked walls, and broken windows gaped like hollow eyes. It was the perfect setting for her latest video. Her channel had grown tremendously over the past year, thanks to her fearless urban explorations. Tonight, she was taking on her biggest challenge yet.

"Ready?" Haerin asked, stepping back from the camera with a grin.

Minji took a deep breath and nodded. "Okay, we're rolling in three, two, one."

"Hey everyone, welcome back to my channel! Today, we're exploring an abandoned hospital that people claim is haunted," Minji began, her voice steady despite the eerie atmosphere. "I'm here with my best friend Haerin, who's handling the camera, and my little sister Hyein, who's tagging along for the adventure. Say hi, Haerin!"

Haerin turned the camera on herself, gave a quick wave, and then focused back on Minji. "Hi, everyone!"

"And there's Hyein," Minji added, pointing to her sister who gave a shy wave to the camera.

The trio approached the rusted gates, their hinges creaking ominously as they pushed them open. A chill ran down Minji's spine, but she ignored it. She was here to debunk the myths or, if they were lucky, capture something truly spooky on camera.

"Legend has it that this hospital was shut down in the 1980s after a series of mysterious deaths," Minji explained as they walked through the overgrown courtyard. "Patients and staff started disappearing without a trace. Some say their spirits still haunt the halls."

"Spooky," Hyein muttered, clutching Minji's arm.

"Let's head inside and see what we can find," Minji said, leading the way to the main entrance. The door groaned as it swung open, revealing a dark, musty corridor lined with peeling wallpaper.

The group ventured further into the hospital, their flashlights cutting through the gloom. Every creak and distant sound set them on edge, but Minji kept her focus, narrating their every step for the viewers.

"This place is a maze," Minji said, turning down another corridor. "It's easy to see why people get lost in here."

"Can we not be one of those people?" Hyein asked, her voice wavering slightly.

“Relax, Hyein, we'll stick together," Minji said, patting her sister on the back. “It’s just an old building. Nothing to be scared of.”

“Yet,” Haerin added with a chuckle, causing Minji to roll her eyes.

As they moved deeper into the hospital, strange occurrences began to happen. Doors creaked open on their own while faint whispers echoed through the halls and their flashlights flickered intermittently. Each time, Minji paused to address the camera, her excitement growing with every eerie moment.

"Did you hear that?" Minji whispered as they approached a set of double doors. A faint murmur seemed to come from the other side.

"Yeah," Haerin replied, turning the camera toward the doors.

Minji gestured for silence and slowly pushed the doors open. The room beyond was shrouded in darkness, but the murmurs grew louder. They tiptoed inside, flashlights sweeping the area.

Suddenly, a figure moved at the far end of the room, and Minji's heart raced. She signaled for the others to follow as they crept closer. The whispers became clearer, but it wasn't until Minji turned around that she realized the voices were coming from behind them as well.

She froze, signaling Haerin and Hyein to be quiet. Slowly, they backed away, facing the camera and whispering their observations.

"Guys, we might not be alone in here," Minji said, her voice low. "I swear I heard voices from both directions."

As they continued backing up, the voices grew louder. Minji's heart pounded in her chest, and she struggled to maintain her composure for the camera.

And then, without warning, she bumped into something solid.

----

Hanni adjusted her beanie and gave Danielle a thumbs-up as they approached the hospital's entrance. The building looked even more sinister in person, but Hanni was excited. Her followers had been begging her to explore this place, and she was finally here.

"Alright, guys, here we are at the infamous haunted hospital," Hanni said, her voice filled with enthusiasm. "I'm here with Danielle, my best friend and occasional camerawoman. Say hi, Danielle!"

Danielle waved at the camera, then focused back on Hanni. "Hi, everyone! This place gives me the creeps already."

Hanni grinned and turned toward the entrance. "Let's see if the stories are true. They say this place is haunted by the spirits of patients and staff who disappeared under mysterious circumstances."

The door creaked open as they stepped inside, revealing a dark hallway. Hanni took a deep breath and switched on her flashlight. The beam cut through the darkness, revealing the decayed interior of the hospital.

"According to legend, this hospital was shut down after a series of unexplained events," Hanni narrated as they walked. "People vanished without a trace, and some say their spirits still linger here."

"Do you believe in ghosts?" Danielle asked, her voice a mix of curiosity and nerves.

Hanni shrugged, smiling. "Not really, but I'm open to being convinced."

They began their exploration, the beam of their flashlights cutting through the darkness. The silence was oppressive, broken only by the occasional creak of the building settling or the distant sound of something moving.

“This place is seriously giving me the creeps,” Hanni said, shivering as they passed a particularly dark hallway. “It feels like someone’s watching us.”

“Maybe it’s the ghosts,” Danielle said with a grin, making Hanni laugh despite her nerves.

As they explored, strange noises echoed through the halls. Hanni couldn't tell if it was the wind or something else, but it added to the atmosphere. She documented every sound, every creak of the floorboards, keeping her followers in the loop.

"Did you hear that?" Hanni whispered, pointing her flashlight down a long, dark corridor. The faint sound of voices reached their ears.

"Yeah," Danielle replied, zooming in with the camera. "It sounds like someone else is here."

"Let's check it out," Hanni said, moving cautiously forward. They tiptoed down the corridor, the voices growing louder. Hanni couldn't shake the feeling that they were not alone.

As they reached the end of the corridor, the voices seemed to be coming from all directions. Hanni and Danielle turned to each other, eyes wide.

"Are you getting this?" Hanni whispered.

"Definitely," Danielle replied, her voice tinged with excitement and fear.

They moved slowly, scanning the area with their flashlights. Suddenly, Hanni felt a chill run down her spine. She turned around, her back to the camera, and signaled for Danielle to follow.

"I think we should backtrack a bit," Hanni said softly. "Just to be safe."

As she walked backward, facing the camera and whispering her observations, the voices seemed to close in on them. Hanni's heart raced, but she kept her composure, determined to capture everything for her viewers.

Then, without warning, she bumped into something solid.

----

Minji and Hanni both spun around, flashlights blinding each other momentarily. There was a collective gasp from both groups as they realized they were not alone.

"Oh my god!" Minji exclaimed, lowering her flashlight. "Hold on... you're Hanni from 'Go Hanni!'"

"And you're Minji from... 'Kim Minji'?" Hanni replied, equally surprised.

The initial shock gave way to relieved laughter. Minji quickly introduced Haerin and Hyein, while Hanni introduced Danielle.

"This is such a crazy coincidence," Minji said, shaking her head. "What are the odds?"

"I know, right?" Hanni agreed. "Maybe this place really is haunted, bringing us together like this."

Minji laughed. "Well, since we're both here, why don't we team up? A collaboration video could be awesome."

"Definitely," Hanni said, her eyes lighting up. "Let's do it."

The two groups spent a few moments off-camera, getting to know each other better and discussing their plan. Once everyone was comfortable, they turned the cameras back on and began their collaboration.

"Hey everyone, we've got a special treat for you today," Minji announced to her viewers. "We ran into Hanni from 'Go Hanni!' and we decided to explore the hospital together."

"That's right," Hanni added, grinning at the camera. "We're combining forces to bring you the best urban exploration video ever."

They ventured deeper into the hospital, flashlights illuminating the dark hallways. The atmosphere grew more intense with each step, but the group's new camaraderie lightened the mood.

"Did you guys know about the nurse who supposedly haunts this place?" Haerin asked, her camera focused on Minji and Hanni.

"No, what's the story?" Minji replied, intrigued.

"Legend has it that a nurse named Sarah disappeared one night while doing her rounds," Haerin explained. "Some say she was taken by the spirits of the patients she couldn't save. People claim to see her wandering the halls, looking for a way out."

A sudden chill filled the air, and the group fell silent for a moment, absorbing the eerie tale.

"Well, let's hope we don't run into her," Hyein said with a nervous laugh.

As they continued exploring, they encountered more paranormal phenomena. Objects fell on their own and shadows flitted across the walls. Each time, Minji and Hanni exchanged glances, their nervous excitement palpable.

"This place is seriously creepy," Danielle commented, filming Hanni as she inspected an old, rusted medical cart.

"Yeah, but it's also kind of fun," Hanni replied, her voice slightly shaky. "Who knew we'd end up exploring a haunted hospital together?"

"Just goes to show you never know what to expect," Minji said, smiling at Hanni.

They moved into another section of the hospital, where the air felt even colder. The group huddled closer together, their flashlights casting long shadows on the walls.

"Did you hear that?" Hyein whispered, gripping Minji's arm.

"Yeah, it sounded like footsteps," Minji replied, her heart racing.

"Let's check it out," Hanni suggested, leading the way.

They followed the sound, flashlights pointed ahead. The footsteps grew louder, echoing through the halls. Minji and Hanni walked side by side, their hands brushing occasionally as they navigated the dark corridors.

Suddenly, a loud bang echoed through the hallway, and the group froze. Minji instinctively reached for Hanni's hand, and they both held their breath.

"What was that?" Haerin whispered, her camera trained on the darkness ahead.

"I don't know," Minji replied, her voice barely audible. "But I think we should find out."

With their hearts pounding, they moved cautiously forward. The corridor opened into a large room, where an old, rusted gurney stood in the center. The footsteps seemed to come from the far corner, shrouded in darkness.

"Stay close," Hanni whispered to Danielle, who nodded, her camera focused on the mysterious corner.

As they approached, the temperature dropped even further, and a faint whisper filled the air. Minji and Hanni tightened their grip on each other's hands, drawing comfort from the contact.

"Who's there?" Minji called out, her voice steady despite the fear gnawing at her.

For a moment, there was silence. Then, a soft, ethereal voice replied, "Help me..."

The group gasped, their flashlights flickering. Minji felt a shiver run down her spine as she realized they might actually be encountering the ghost of the nurse.

"What do you want?" Hanni asked, her voice trembling slightly.

"Help me find my way," the voice whispered again, fading into the darkness.

Minji and Hanni exchanged a look, both feeling a mix of fear and determination. They had come here for an adventure, and now they were faced with a real mystery.

"We have to help her," Minji said softly.

Hanni nodded. "Let's figure out how."

As they delved deeper into the hospital, the group kept encountering even more paranormal activity. Windows opened and closed on their own, cold spots appeared out of nowhere, and the whispers grew louder. Despite the fear, Minji and Hanni found themselves growing closer.

They discovered an old, dusty map of the hospital, which hinted at a hidden passage leading to an underground tunnel. The group decided to follow the map, hoping it would lead them to the source of the haunting.

"This is it," Minji said, holding the map up to the light. "The passage should be just ahead."

"Let's go," Hanni replied, squeezing Minji's hand for reassurance.

The group navigated the narrow, winding corridors, their flashlights barely penetrating the darkness. As they walked, they shared stories and jokes to keep their spirits up.

"You know, this is turning out to be one of the best videos we've ever made," Danielle said, filming Hanni as they walked.

"Definitely," Hanni agreed. "And I think we've made some new friends along the way."

Minji smiled at Hanni, feeling a warmth in her chest despite the cold surroundings. "I'm glad we ran into you guys. This has been an incredible adventure."

"Same here," Hanni replied, her eyes sparkling.

Finally, they reached the hidden passage. It was a narrow, dark tunnel that seemed to stretch on forever. The group hesitated for a moment, then pressed on, determined to solve the mystery.

As they moved through the tunnel, Minji and Hanni kept a tight grip on each other's hands, drawing strength from their connection.

At the end of the tunnel, they found a small, hidden room. Inside, an old dusty journal lay on a table. Minji picked it up and carefully opened it, revealing the final entries of Nurse Sarah.

"These are her last words," Minji said, her voice filled with awe. "She was trying to find a way to save the patients."

Reading the journal, they learned that Nurse Sarah had discovered a hidden cure for a mysterious illness that had plagued the hospital. She had been trying to gather the ingredients when she suddenly disappeared.

"We have to finish what she started," Hanni said, her voice resolute.

With renewed determination, the group followed the clues in the journal, gathering the necessary ingredients from various parts of the hospital. Each step brought them closer to solving the mystery and freeing the spirits trapped within.

Finally, they returned to the hidden room and mixed the ingredients according to Nurse Sarah's diary instructions. When they completed the final step, a warm, glowing light filled the room, and the ghostly figure of Nurse Sarah appeared before them.

"Thank you," she said, her voice filled with gratitude. "You've freed us."

The group watched in awe as the spirits of the patients and staff appeared, their faces filled with relief and joy. One by one, they faded into the light, their souls finally at peace.

As the last spirit disappeared, the hospital seemed to come alive with a renewed energy. The cold spots vanished, and the whispers ceased. Minji and Hanni looked at each other, their faces glowing with happiness.

"We did it," Minji said, her eyes shining.

"Yeah, we did," Hanni replied, her heart swelling with emotion.

With their exploration coming to an end, they gathered in the main hall to film their closing remarks. “This has been one of the most intense explorations I’ve ever done,” Minji said, addressing the camera. “And meeting Hanni and Danielle made it even better.”

Hanni nodded in agreement. “Definitely. This was an incredible adventure. Thanks for having us.”

They all waved at the cameras, saying their goodbyes to their audiences. “Make sure to check out ‘Kim Minji’ for more amazing explorations,” Hanni said.

“And don’t forget to subscribe to ‘Go Hanni!’ for more awesome adventures,” Minji added with a smile.

As they packed up their gear and prepared to leave, Minji and Hanni shared a look. “We should do this again sometime,” Minji said.

Hanni grinned. “Absolutely. Here’s to more spooky adventures and new friends.”

With that, they left the haunted hospital, their hearts lighter despite the eerie experience. The night had not only given them amazing footage but also forged new friendships that promised future collaborations.

As they walked back to their cars, Haerin, Hyein, and Danielle chatted excitedly about the night’s events. “I can’t believe we saw a real ghost,” Hyein said, her eyes wide with excitement.

“That was definitely a first for me,” Danielle agreed. “I can’t wait to see the final video.”

Minji and Hanni lagged behind slightly, enjoying the quiet moment together. “Tonight was amazing,” Minji said, glancing at Hanni.

“It really was,” Hanni replied, her smile bright. “I’m so glad we met.”

“Me too,” Minji said softly.

The collaboration video between Minji and Hanni quickly became a viral sensation. Their viewers were thrilled by the eerie atmosphere, the strange occurrences, and the unexpected collaboration between their favorite YouTubers. The video garnered millions of views, with fans eagerly dissecting every frame for signs of paranormal activity.

Both channels saw a significant boost in subscribers, and their comment sections were flooded with requests for more joint explorations. Many fans loved the chemistry Minji and Hanni showed together, creating fan art about the spooky adventure and commenting on their interactions. The two YouTubers, seeing the positive response, decided to plan more collaborations.

Minji and Hanni stayed in touch through texts and video calls, planning their next adventure and growing closer with each passing day. Their shared experiences and mutual respect for each other’s work blossomed into a close friendship, hinting at something more.

One evening, about a month after their visit to the hospital, Minji and Hanni found themselves at Minji’s apartment. They had decided to meet in person to discuss their next video and maybe do a live stream together to chat with their fans.

Minji’s living room was cozy, with soft lighting and a few candles flickering on the coffee table. Haerin and Hyein were there too, lounging on the couch and scrolling through their phones. Danielle had brought over some snacks, which were now spread out on the table.

“So, I was thinking,” Minji began, looking at Hanni with a mischievous glint in her eye, “what if we explored an old abandoned theme park next? I’ve heard some pretty creepy stories about one not too far from here.”

Hanni’s eyes lit up. “That sounds amazing! I’ve always wanted to do something like that. Imagine the footage we could get.”

“Plus, it would be a nice change from the usual haunted buildings,” Danielle added, munching on a handful of popcorn.

“Yeah, and it’s less claustrophobic than a hospital,” Haerin agreed, looking up from her phone. “Count me in.”

Hyein, who had been quietly listening, nodded enthusiastically. “Me too! But no more running into creepy ghost people, okay?”

Minji laughed, ruffling her sister’s hair. “I’ll try my best, Hyein. No promises, though.”

They spent the next few hours brainstorming ideas, laughing, and sharing stories. The atmosphere was relaxed and warm, a stark contrast to the eerie tension of their haunted exploration. As the night wore on, the conversation turned more personal.

“You know,” Hanni said, her voice softening, “I’m really glad we bumped into each other that night. I’ve always admired your work, Minji.”

Minji blushed, feeling a warm flutter in her chest. “Same here, Hanni. I’ve been a fan of your channel for a while. I think we make a great team.”

Haerin and Danielle exchanged knowing looks, smirking at their friends’ mutual admiration. Hyein, oblivious to the subtext, simply smiled and continued snacking.

Minji and Hanni’s eyes met, and for a moment, it felt like the world had shrunk down to just the two of them. There was a charged silence, filled with unspoken words and possibilities.

Suddenly, Hyein broke the silence. “Hey, how about we live stream right now? Our fans would love it.”

“That’s a great idea,” Danielle agreed, grabbing her phone. “Let’s give them a sneak peek of our next adventure.”

They quickly set up for the live stream, arranging themselves on the couch with the camera positioned to capture everyone. As they went live, the chat immediately exploded with excited comments.

“Hey everyone!” Minji greeted, waving at the camera. “We have a special surprise for you tonight. We’re here with Hanni and Danielle!”

Hanni waved, grinning. “Hi guys! We’re planning something really exciting for our next video. Any guesses?”

The chat was filled with a flurry of responses, ranging from haunted houses to ghost towns. They spent the next hour chatting with their fans, answering questions, and teasing their upcoming collaboration.

As the live stream drew to a close, Minji glanced at Hanni, feeling a surge of gratitude and something more. “Thanks for joining us tonight, everyone. We can’t wait to share our next adventure with you.”

“Stay tuned, it’s going to be epic,” Hanni added, her smile lighting up the screen.

After the stream ended, they settled back into their relaxed conversation, the group's bond stronger than ever. As the night grew late, Minji found herself walking Hanni, who had to leave first, to the door, their friends giving them knowing looks from the living room.

“Thanks for coming over,” Minji said, her voice soft. “I had a great time.”

“Me too,” Hanni replied, her eyes shining. “I’m really looking forward to our next adventure.”

Minji took a deep breath, her heart pounding. “So am I. And, Hanni… I’m really glad we met.”

Hanni smiled, her cheeks flushing slightly. “Me too, Minji. Me too.”

As they said their goodbyes and Hanni left, Minji felt a sense of warmth and anticipation. She knew this was just the beginning of many more thrilling adventures—both in their videos and in their growing relationship.
