Leona Dale North huffed as her mother pulled the dress-jacket over her shoulders. It was a little tight, even though she’d tried it on a few days before. She knew the rest of the woeful tale; the shock and horror that both children were born female, reluctant agreement to go ahead with the wedding; nothing was all too new.
She joined her mother in the last lines of the poetic fable, swaying to its rhythm.
