Work Text:
Aki buried himself deeper into the blankets as he heard Harumi sneezing. “Bless you…” he managed to mumble before he began to sniffle again.
Harumi laughed in response only to having yet another coughing fit.
The two of them had been reckless enough to walk home in the rain, and now they were both stuck in Harumi’s apartment on a Saturday night, sniffling and coughing from catching the cold.
They were both wrapped up in a warm blanket on the couch as they watched TV (they should be resting instead) with a steaming hot tea in front of them, made by Aki.
Aki wanted to go to the doctor, but went against it when he realized he didn’t want to leave a very sick Harumi all alone. And so he stayed.
He had no idea what illness had fallen under them, but Aki felt… Different. His cheeks felt really hot, and his heart was beating way too fast, yet it was only when he was really close to Harumi, such as right now.
He took note that Harumi’s ears were also bright red, so maybe it was just a symptom of them being sick.
So then why the hell did he want to kiss him right now?
He decided not to think much of it though. His head obviously wasn’t in the right place, but he couldn’t leave Harumi here all by himself, who would take care of him? He’d burn down his apartment making himself tea!
As Harumi was fixated on the tv, Aki absentmindedly reached his hand out to caress his soft hair. Harumi had showered not too long ago, so it was fluffier than usual. You’re so cute. He thought as he continued to played with his hair.
He stopped dead in his tracks as he watched Harumi’s face redden. He turned to look at him slightly dazed, “Huh..?”
Aki tiled his head, “Hm?”
He began to giggle in a giddy way, “I know we’re high on cough syrup right now, but I swear you just said I’m cute.”
OH SHI-
Aki hid his face under the blankets as his face flushed. Did he actually say it?? Oops.
Harumi grabbed the blanket to see his face, “Aww, don’t hide your pretty face bunny, I wanna see it~” he said in a monotone voice.
“HEY-” he managed before he lost his balance and fell face first on the cushion.
Harumi started giggling like crazy as his puffy red eyes were clouded with tears both from being sick and from laughing so much.
Aki groaned and he sat up and pointed at the table, he needed to forget about this, “Harumi drink your tea before it gets cold.”
He hummed, “And if I don’t?”
Aki grimaced, “You’re never going to get better.”
“That’s fine with me, as long as you stay by my side forever bunny~” he snuggled up against Aki’s shoulder lazily.
“No no no, you’re drinking it right now! Or I’m making soup!”
Harumi cringed at the thought, “Like hell you won’t.”
“Then drink it.”
He sighed and finally sat up, “Fine, but under one condition.”
Aki glanced over at him, “What is it?”
Harumi returned an evil smirk, “You have to kiss me.”
Aki felt his face heat up again, “WHAT?”
He shrugged nonchalantly as he leaned back on the couch, “Just on the cheek, it’s not like you’ll get sick… well you’re already sick.” He began giggling again.
Aki was very uneasy, because he felt fine with having to kiss Harumi, as a matter of fact, he had wanted to for the past hour.
“Fine.” Aki caught him off guard as he leaned forward to kiss his cheek.
However, Harumi had a plan in mind.
Aki’s surprise was quite intense when his lips landed on Harumi’s and not his cheek. It was a quick peck but the redness on his face was beyond comprehension.
Harumi began to giggle with his hands covering his mouth as his cheeks turned pink too, “Oh bunny, you’re such a good kisser~”
Now Aki has completely lost it. He wants a kiss? I’ll give him one.
He grabbed Harumi’s hand subtly, and when the boy looked up cluelessly, he leaned in and kissed him. He felt his chest explode with… something rather strange, and instead of feeling embarrassed, he felt… serene.
He pulled back to catch his breath and looked at Harumi’s face, flushed in pink, “Was that good enough for you ice prince?”
Harumi’s face became even redder, “Damn.”
Aki became nervous from his reaction, “Ah-was that too much..?”
Harumi snickered at his question leaning, “Bunny, it wasn’t enough~”
“Okay that’s it, I’m stopping you RIGHT NOW.” He grabbed Harumi’s cheeks as he only got a pout out of it.
Harumi escaped Aki’s grasp and giggled, “I should start calling you red bunny because of your face”
Aki hid under the blankets once more as Harumi laughed at his flustered actions.
As they drank their tea, they enjoyed the show as the smell of midnight rain seeped into the living room and mixed with the scent of banana nut bread Aki had made earlier that day.
