Work Header

Invasion of the sea devils

Summary:

Upon an Oil-rig off the coast of England. The workers drill down in order to find oil. Though what they find is something worse.

Their drill accidentally awakens a colony of sea devils which now rise to attack these invaders on their territory.

It is up to the Doctor and his daughter/current companion. To stop them before a war breaks out between humanity and the Sea devils

Notes:

So I decided to turn my Doctor who fan fiction into a series. With this kind of being like episode two.

This fic will also mildly be inspired by the indy game still wakes the deep.

Chapter 1: Prelude

Chapter Text

English coast 1986

A man awakens within his bed. He got out and pulled on his boots and zipped up his dark blue overalls before standing up. He looked out of the window of his quarters. Looking to the vast mist covered ocean the looks of a storm brewing in the distance.

He let out a sigh as he stretched before hearing a knock on the door. He looked to it, “hey Scott. Come on their serving up breakfast. You don’t want to miss any” he said. The man Scott nodded, “I’ll be there in a sec wells” he responded. He heard the sound of Wells walk away and sighed as he rubbed his hands through his luscious brown hair.

Scott stretches before leaving his quarters on board of the oil-rig he was stationed on. He walked down to the cafeteria and entered. He looked until he saw Wells and two other men. He walked over hearing on of them speaking, “I don’t feel confident on this drilling” he said. The other man looked at him, “oh come on Tiggs. It’s going to be fine” he stated.

Tiggs looked to him and pointed, “easy for you to say Rafts. You aren’t the one drilling down deeper into the ground to find more oil” he said. Tiggs glanced to Scott, “in fact all you have to deal with is keeping this forsaken rig afloat. Like Scott” he added. Rafts chuckled as he leaned back. Scott looked to them, “Morning Wells, Tiggs, Rafts” he said.

Wells looked to Scott, “we’re good apart from Tiggs being as paranoid as ever. He’s worried that we are drilling too deep” he explained. Tiggs looked to Wells and pointed, “it’s not paranoia. All I’m saying is that when the oil vein drained up we should have decommissioned this rig. Not go drilling down for more” he stated.

Rafts looked to him, “look this is an order from Rattan. He believes there could be more oil down there” he explained. Tiggs looked at him, “well there isn’t. We have been drilling for two days and we haven’t found any. Douglass is only havin’ us do this because he does not want to shut down this rig” he explained. Scott let out a chuckle, “look I do think it will be fine” he said. Tiggs looked to Scott, “says Rattan’s number on star employee” he responded. Scott let out a chuckle before turning around and going over to get his breakfast.

Scott looked to the chef. A portly man thinning hair upon his head. Ge wore a stained white apron over his faded teal colour T-shirt and tanned coloured cargo pants. Like Scott and the rest he wore black boots, “morning Rob” he said with a nod. Robert nodded with a sniff, “morning Scott. Here for breakfast?” He responded. Scott chuckled with a smirk, “yeah. I could do with it before Rattan calls” he replied. Robert nodded before picking up a tray. Scott took it with a nod before turning around and walking to a table.

Scott sat down and began to eat his food. As he was halfway through his bacon. The intercom began to buzz, “Scott report to administration when you are able” Rattan’s voice called. Scott sighed before continuing his breakfast until he finished it. Once done he stood up and began to leave the cafeteria.

Exiting accommodations. Now in his beanie and hard hat. Scott crossed the deck to the administration building. He entered the elevator to the top and walked to the overseers office knocking on the door. He waited, “Enter” the voice of Douglas Rattan called from inside.

Scott entered and looked to Rattan. Rattan leaned back as he looked to Scott. Scott was an older man. He was bold on top with the hair on the sides of his head grey. He wore a red jacket above his black overalls. A pair of glasses rested on his nose. He looked to Scott, “ah Mr. McClain. Welcome, please have a seat” he said.

Scott looked to the seat, “umm…I’m ok with standing” he responded. Rattan pointed to the seat, “Sit down. Now” he ordered. Scott nodded before sitting down. Rattan looked to Scott, “tell me Scott. My choice to drill deeper. What do you think?” He asked. Scott cleared his throat, “I say this is your rig. Do what you see is best” he responded.

Rattan nodded, “do ya now? Because some of the other workers have been talking” he explained. Scott learned forward, “look they’re a little paranoid that’s all” he explained. Rattan nodded, “is that it? Tell me do you see any threat in doing this?” He asked. Scott shook his head, “no sir. I do not see any problems” he explained. Rattan smiled, “good because you don’t know how annoying it is to have these people complaining. Saying that we are going too deep. I am the one who gives them work. I expect respect” he explained. Scott nodded, “I understand” he responded. Rattan nodded back, “good” he replied right as his radio began to beep.

Rattan picked it up and pushed the button to answer, "what?" he asked wondering. A voice came through that Scott did not hear, "you've stopped? why have you stopped? keep going" Rattan said, "what do you mean it feels off?" he asked, "it feels like metal on metal what does that mean?" he asked in a demanding voice, "So you've probably hit an iron ore vein. Drill through it" he responded. The voice said something again and Rattan slammed his hand on the desk, "Do you want me to SEND Scott down there and check it out?  Because I will" he stated, "now do as I say and drill through it or YOU will be on a one way trip to shore" he added before turning off his radio. Scott looked to him, "This is what I mean Scott. They complain more than they do their jobs. I pay them. So I expect them to work" Rattan spat, "your dismissed" he added.

Scott nodded as he stood up, "I'll be on my way to engineering then" he responded, "I don't care if you said you were going to be swimming the sea. Just keep my Rig in order" Rattan replied. Scott nodded, "oh and Scott. If you see any workers having regret of drilling. TELL THEM THEY WILL BE ON A ONE WAY TRIP BACK TO SHORE" Rattan ordered. Scott nodded again before leaving.

Scott entered engineering and looked to one of the workers, "morning" he said with a nod. The worker nodded back as Scott walked through the maintenance halls of the Oil Rig. As he did he heard a noise a light metallic thump. Slowly he looked around before hearing it again and looking to a storage closest.

Slowly he began to approach it reaching for the handle and opening the door before jumping with a yell as he sees the Doctor and Jenny who jump back in shock, "oh. Hello there" The Doctor said with a cheerful mood and a chuckle as Jenny waved.
