Work Text:

As the sky finally opened up, he looked out at the garden. The open window allowed the fresh scent of rain into the house, a scent he'd always loved.

He slipped his shoes on and set his book down, walking outside to enjoy the fresh, post-shower weather.

As he stood on the front porch taking in the beauty, he saw a cardinal fly over, perching on the railing.

Smiling softly, his thoughts wandered to his great-grandmother who had passed just a few months earlier.

He sighed softly, reminiscing about the fun times he enjoyed with her. Unfortunately, however, the Cardinal flew away, so he went back inside.

Sitting down on the couch he grabbed his phone to text his best friend, Sky (luv u bud).

“I'm coming over, you best be there.”

He grabs his keys as he stands up, walks to his car, and pulls out of the driveway.

As he arrives at Sky’s house, he parks the car and walks up to the front door, letting himself as if he lived there (since he basically did).

Taking advantage of Sky not knowing he was in the house yet, he sneaks up behind her, tickling her childishly.

“Aaaah!! Bro what the fuck you scared me! And how'd you even get in without me hearing you?”

He just shrugs softly, a mischievous smile on his face.

“Does that really matter? I'm here now.”

Sky chuckles softly, walking into the living room and plopping down on the couch.

“I swear Ari, one of these days you're going to give me a heart attack. And that's if you don't find yourself a boyfriend, then you'll have to watch your mouth.” (Pride and prejudice reference 🤪)

“I highly doubt a little tickling is gonna give you a heart attack, you'll be a fine silly girl.”
Sky just chuckles and grabs her sketchbook, going back to the drawing she’d been working on. Ari however, is not here for calmness. Grabbing the remote from the side table, he turns on Link Click (cause yes).

Sky looks up at the TV, chuckling when she sees what he chose to watch.

“Seriously? Do you not watch anything else or something?”

Ari giggles softly, watching the intro start.

“I do, but this is my favorite.”

As they both busy themselves with their task, Sky’s brother gets home. He's completely unfazed when he sees Ari sitting on the couch next to Sky. (because he's quite literally over that often.)

Walking to his room, he ignores both of them.

Ari ignores him, (like the respective “brother” he is) and continues watching his show.

Sky suddenly looks up at him, a glimmer of excitement in her eye.

“Wanna go pick flowers? I'll teach you how to make a crown out of them.”

Ari pauses the show, pretending to contemplate it for a second before shrugging.

“Yeah sure why not?”

They both get up, walk into the backyard, and collect all the dandelions they can find.

“Is this enough?”

He holds up about 30 dandelions and shows them to Sky.

“Yeah, that should be good.”

They both take the flowers they collected back inside and sit on the couch.

“Ok so here's how you do it. First, we have to make sure all of the stems are one and a half inches long, otherwise, they won't be good to use.”

She shows him how to cut the stems with a clean cut, making sure they are all even.

“Ok now we have to take the wire and measure it to about twice the circumference of your head since that's what we're gonna use to keep the flowers in a crown shape.”
As she helps him get his wire in the proper shape, she also does her own.

“Now we're gonna take a flower and fold it on the wire to make sure they don't fall off.”

They both put the rest of their flowers on the wire and then she helps him make sure they're all secure.

“Looks perfect to me!!”

He smiles brightly, extremely proud of his crown,

As he puts it on he turns on the camera on his phone so he can see.

“Damn, I look like a hella handsome fairy prince.”

She giggles softly and puts hers on as well.

“Yes. Yes, you do. My handsome fairy brother.”

She chuckles softly and picks up her sketchbook again, finishing her drawing as he keeps watching Link Click.

Eventually, he does have to go home, despite not wanting to. He isn't too worried though as he knows he'll be back the next day.
