Summary
Nine months ago, Lyney showed up at Wriothesley’s office doorstep under the pretence that it was short-lived. It was an initiative set in place by work (“A healthy mind is a happy mind,” as the posters plastered outside the men’s washroom stated) in an attempt to modernise. While the sessions were promised as free, it was hard for Lyney to separate the fact that Wriothesley was feasting on his organisation’s money each appointment from the idea that somehow, Wriothesley might have enjoyed their monthly hour spent together.
After four hours of sessions, his employee assistance funding had run out. Two weeks later, he’d crawled back with his credit card and a new insurance claim, and Wriothesley had greeted him with his characteristic smile and a wave of his hand to come in. Because the truth of the matter, no matter how hard Lyney tried to deny it, was this: he was unequivocally besotted with Wriothesley.
