Zero was sorely tempted to slam his head into his desk. Anything would be better than the metaphorical (it was all digital, but if you printed it out, Zero was sure it would be obscene) mountains of paperwork he and X had to fill out.
This was his least favorite part of the job, and one he just couldn't get behind - why was he doing this? There were certainly tasks far better suited for Zero. This was a waste of his energy. Whoever said "the pen is mightier than the sword" deserved an introduction to Zero's saber.
Lazily, he lifted his gaze to X, working peacefully on his own metaphorical stack. Zero smiled softly. X was so dedicated - and so lost in his own little world. Bored out of his mind and feeling restless, Zero decided to intrude on that little world of his. Carefully, he stood, and snuck his way over to X's desk...
"Boo."
X jolted in Zero's arms - Zero's arms? He looked up behind him with big eyes and an agape mouth. "Zero! You startled me!"
"That was the idea," Zero grinned, leaning down to peck X's nose with a kiss. He felt said nose scrunch up under his lips, and eyelashes fluttered against his cheek.
"Zero," X huffed. Zero pulled away to see his face, darkened red and pouting. "I'm working. And so are you!"
"Paperwork keeps," Zero shrugged.
X sighed. "Restless?"
"Horrendously," Zero confirmed. He leaned down to tuck his head between X's shoulder and head. X reached up to pat the white center of Zero's helmet, sighing again.
"Hmm... Why don't you go for a walk and come back to it?"
"Why don't we go on a walk?" Zero suggested. X frowned at his work.
"I have to finish these..."
"After our walk."
X gnawed at his bottom lip. He needed to get these done, but… Zero nuzzled pathetically into X's shoulder, very obviously trying to earn pity points. Worst part was, it worked… X knew Zero got restless in one place for too long… and a walk shouldn't take long… and Zero was right, the paperwork would still be here… and maybe X could use a break, too…
"Okay, fine. You win, Zero. Let's go."
"Yes!" Zero cheered in victory, quickly pulling away to celebrate. Then he looked awkwardly at X, who he had swiftly abandoned when he got what he wanted… "I love you?"
"You sound confident," X teased, tucking his chair into his desk and offering Zero his hand after. Zero gladly took it. "I love you too."
