   Mario's partners refused to serve the Shadow Queen even when the battle had reached a crux. However, using Mario's greatest weakness against him, his precious baby brother, he was given an ultimatum - serve her or watch his brother die.

   Not being able to watch or bear letting his brother die, Mario ultimatley steps forward and surrends.
