Summary:

Tonight, June 27 2024, both sides would sit down and watch their chosen figure heads debate for their country. While the world sees their debate as a clash of the titans, Donald Trump and Joe Biden are secretly torn between their public performances, and their shared private pain.

Chapter 1: The Debate Begins

Contrary to its name, the United States of America had not been united in years. Two sides, one red one blue, divided the country’s people, and civil war was on the horizon. Tonight, June 27, both sides would sit down and watch their chosen figure heads debate for their country. However, neither side could predict how things would end…

“I’m not ready for this,” Joe panically thought as his many assistants ran around him, shuffling papers and trying to rehearse his speech with him.

Joe Biden had not seen his old friend in the flesh in four years, or at least that's what the public thought. Their rivalry was the stuff of headlines—debates that crackled with tension, accusations that pierced like daggers through the political ether. Joe’s world saw Trump as a deadly adversary that needed to be stopped immediately. But behind closed doors, things were different. Or at least, Joe thought they were.

“Mr. President,” a short woman with a slicked back bun and black oval glasses said. “The debate begins in 3 minutes. Shall we go over the pre written responses again? Mrs. Vice President Harris has a strict outlined script that the party demands you follow. I suggest we look through article three part—”

“That won’t be necessary.” Joe says. He’s sick of the scripts. “I will know what to say. I know Donald.” The name was difficult for Joe to say. “I know him better than anyone.”

The three minutes are up. It’s showtime.

Joe Biden and Donal Trump walk across the stage. Joe tries to look Donald in the eyes, but he’s too busy looking into the camera. Joe feels weak in the knees, he hasn't seen Donald in a while. He looks tired, exhausted, but determined. His mind begins to wander, and Joe cannot help but think about their last meeting…
