“Sir.”
“What is it now?”
“The chaos ratings…they just spiked again.”
Rustle.
“Just turn the knobs to fix it.”
“I did, but…”
“But?”
“The rating isn’t going back down…”
“Hmm. I’ll report this to the higher ups. Focus on other areas for now.”
“Yes sir.”
The man addressed as “sir” crossed his arms.
‘Why would the government trigger a spike in chaos? There should be no reason, unless…’
He shook his head.
‘Impossible.’
There was only ever one recorded case of it.
And he is dead.

Charles sat in silence.
His friend, who he thought had died, had turned out to be alive.
And he himself had offered they go a mission together, just like the old times.
But…he just had to mess it up, stupidly crashing his spaceship into the Toppat’s ship. All because he wanted that sense of adrenaline.
Charles fought the urge to cry.
‘…Realistically, there’s no way he could have survived the explosion. But…this is Henry we’re talking about. Just maybe…?’
Slap.
‘Get it together, Charles. You’re in the military. Things like this happen all the time…you just have to move on, like you always do. Because that’s the best course of action for the ones lost in the battlefield.’
As Charles reprimanded himself, a siren wailed silently in the background, growing louder by the minute.
“…crash landing in 5.”
“4.”
“3.”
“2.”
“1.”
