Valorous Thief

Chapter 7: The Dull Passage of Time

Summary:

Large timeskip because I didn’t want to bore anyone ^^

But it’s pretty short because of that :’)

Notes:

(See the end of the chapter for notes.)

Chapter Text

Charles Calvin went through a routine.

Groceries every other week, annual bills, and some occasional money spent on eating out, or visiting the general.

The general had also resigned, at the age of 64.

It was a boring cycle, rather dull in its own making.

Charles had stopped visiting Henry’s grave.

Not because he forgot, but merely because he had to move on.

Yes, he had moved on. He moved on to become a normal civilian with a normal job.

It held none of the honor and adrenaline the military did, but it was a simple life.

It was something he needed, after all.

Such a mundane way of life helped to take his mind off of things.

But not because of that mission, oh no, he had made his peace with it.

Henry was dead.

He died, 14 years ago.

And that was that.

Charles was now 36.

He walked across the street, grocery bag in hand.

He reached the sidewalk and continued on to his car.

Car horns blared behind him.

They seemed to be louder than usual.

Or at least, one horn was increasingly louder and louder.

Charles turned around, coming face to face with a swerving vehicle.

Everything faded to black once more.

Notes:

The system was a bit impatient, sorry Charles ^^;
