CENTRAL INTELLIGENCE AGENCY HEPHAESTIAN DELIVERANCE ADDENDA #1: CHILD OF RESURGENCE

A. Introduction
The resurgence of ISIS threw the United States into an internal chaos. Double agents sabotaged the U.S. power grid and forced the country into a blackout state. The former Emir of ISIS and ISIL, Bashtun Al-Jafazair, declared "an act of resistance against American oppressors". Many of ISIS insurgents sprawled the streets of several American metropolitan cities such as Detroit, Cleveland, Los Angeles, Washington, and New York. They tortured, massacred, and forced them into a month nonstop labour where civilians were given no food or water. Even as simple as a ceasefire wouldn't stop them from absolute destruction and chaos. This entire hellish dilemma lasted for 8 months until finally, an ISIS militant and Bashtun's second-in-command whose name is kept classified, contacted Michael Flemmington; United States Ambassador to Syria for a ceasefire. Note that it was only a ceasefire and not a peace treaty, which tempted Congress to forcibly impose martial law until the ceasefire effect expired after a year.
On February of 27th, 2024, an ISIS insurgent took hostage of an American individual by the name of Sunny. They flew him from Faraway, Alaska, to an unknown ISIS compound located within Syria. A video footage of the insurgent holding him hostage and demanded the United States a hefty sum of cash for the child's return quickly spread across the internet and caught the attention of Mari; the eldest sister of Sunny. Shortly after the footage became an international headline, the Central Intelligence Agency stepped in and held an emergency meeting at Langley, Virginia. By the request of Mari and her 4 other closest friends of Sunny as well; Hero, Basil, Aubrey, and Kel, the Agency then began planning an operation to save Sunny from a hostage situation.
B. Preparation
The Board of Directors chose Archibald Weaver as the Chief Commander of Operations of the Special Activities Center. Archibald opted the SAC/SOG to be deployed for this operation. They began conducting reconnaissance missions around the wastelands of Syria in order to locate the compound where ISIS had kept Sunny hostage. It took them a week until they located the compound, where it was found between the borders of Syria and Iraq; a live-fire hazard zone. Before they were ready to commence, a SAC/SOG officer disguised themself as an ISIS double agent and was granted access to the compound. There, they put hidden cameras around Sunny's neck and on the walls to keep track of what would happen to him.
On March of 23rd, the Deputy Director of the CIA, Johnston Cleavers, contacted Al-Asad's senior advisors for a press conference in Damascus at the U.S. Embassy in Syria. Cleavers told them that if they could work with the Americans for a joint military operation to save Sunny, they would be given $570 million as a compensation. However, his advisors declined the opportunity and thought that this was an attempt of bribery. The conference lasted less than an hour before they left the room and only Cleavers there with his bodyguard. The next day, Cleavers contacted the Commander of the Syrian Loyalist Forces, Awal Munsur Al-Tariqi, for a meeting at the Capitol Hill. Cleavers told him the same thing he had told to Al-Asad's advisors, and surprisingly, Munsur agreed. A joint military operation between the SLF militants and SOG officers was formed, ultimately named Operation "Child of Resurgence". With the help of SLF outposts not too far away from the compound, Weaver was then posted all the way to the Syria-Iraq border along with 6,500 of his SAC/SOG officers to oversaw the operation.
C. Confrontation
1. Live-fire disaster
The first day of the operation prompted Regiment 8 to infiltrate the compound during nighttime. However, 140 SAC/SOG officers within that regiment died after stepping on landmines that were placed around a 500 meter radius of the compound. Hearing the explosion, ISIS insurgents ambushed the regiment and left only 117 out of the 1,100 members of Regiment 8 alive. It was a disastrous failure, and it was only the beginning of the mission. The second day prompted a squad comprised of 10 units to become ISIS double agents by distracting the insurgents so that they could let Sunny out of the compound. That backfired disastrously as well after a background check revealed their identity to the insurgents. The squad was executed on the spot and right in front of Sunny. Weaver already lost 1,000+ men and the operation had just begun for two days. The operation was then halted after an insurgent infiltrated the SLF outpost and killed 80 soldiers on the spot. This couldn't get anywhere worse for Weaver. He knew himself more better, and the risk of a direct offensive would only lead to the operation's failure and the death of Sunny at the hands of ISIS. The operation came to a stop temporarily and Weaver needed a new way of saving Sunny without risking more of his men to die, but each scenario he could come up with was all for naught and would only lead to more casualties. He was already losing hope, and it became even more of a nightmare after the news came out revealing that Munsur was killed in an artillery bombardment, leaving the SLF without a leader. The outpost was short on supplies and logistics became less of a challenge and more of a deathwish since SLF convoys carrying supplies were hijacked by the insurgents.
Weaver left his post and back to Langley where he was being debriefed by the Board. An acting commander then replaced Weaver's position and took control of the outpost temporarily. He was already on the verge of tears. He had no other option to save Sunny without risking his men to die. When Mari heard that the operation came to a stop for a short period of time, she couldn't hold it back and started sobbing, afraid that she would never be able to see her little brother again and so did her friends. A video footage then reemerged back on international headlines, where Sunny could be seen delivering his "last message" to his sister, to his friends, and to the public:
"I deeply apologize to those who I had ever hurt before. I have no hope left as it was already drained since the first day I got here. Mari, if you're seeing this, I love you. Truly."
The message quickly brought everyone into tears. Mari addressed the entire hostage situation to the public, stated that his brother will die in vain if it were meant to happen. She let out a violent sob during her speech at the Capitol Hill, where Donald Trump and numerous other former U.S. presidents were listening to. Al-Asad's administration never responded to the situation, and ISIS would only kept Sunny suffer until Bashtun decides whether he should die or not. It seemed that the world had lost hope. Or so did it?
2. The emergence of Crimson Daggers and restoration of hope
Out of nowhere, the public was stunned after the Crimson Daggers, a Chinese PMC under the command of Zhao Chengduao, orchestrated a series of sabotages on key ISIS installations across Afghanistan, Iran, Tajikistan, and Iraq. More importantly, the Daggers prompted the killing of three top ISIS militant generals; Sayyed Rahmadi, Al-Warrabi Ibrahimovik, and Jawarriyah Al-Imansuri. This news became an international achievement and Mari caught the attention of it. Zhao addressed the public that the Crimson Daggers will be a part of Operation Child of Resurgence and that they would perform a series of sabotages to hinder ISIS capabilities and logistics without the need of a direct offensive. It was rather a smart move since this would lead to insurgents losing morale quickly, ever so slowly turned them mentally weak. Daggers diplomats were sent on a mission to North Africa, the Caribbean, and Russia to fund their agenda should they would have to face a resistance.
An unprecedented turn quickly spiraled ISIS into a rollercoaster of internal mismanagement as their cell of numerous other terrorist organizations were defeated by Daggers mercenaries. This was rather a message not to mess with them to ISIS, and obviously, it made Bashtun angry and fueled with hatred. He wanted revenge on Zhao, and they took a step further of threatening the world.
ISIS insurgents orchestrated a series of sabotages on U.S. nuclear power plants, disrupting everyday activities for the Americans. More than 1.65 million Americans were killed from the total of 13 power plant sabotages, and 40 million were hospitalized. In an instant, the Daggers took notice of it. Zhao ordered the killing of Vijayanta Ikhmund, an Indian ISIL insurgent and Bashtun's senior advisor who was the mastermind of the 1984 Faraway bombings, ironically the same town where Sunny was born. Cleavers contacted Zhao for yet another meeting held at the Pentagon to discuss the continuation of Operation Child of Resurgence. Zhao, being the former military officer of the People's Liberation Army, came up with an idea to save Sunny from the compound. The risk however was too high, but they both had no other choice.
3. Horn of Mesopotamia Campaign
The SLF promoted Riyad Tahir Al-Dummuj, Munsur's Vice Commander of the Syrian Loyalist Forces, as the new Commander. The SLF, Crimson Daggers, and the SAC/SOG division then jointly formed a military campaign in the Syria-Iraq border once again. The first day of the campaign prompted the Daggers' Lambda 3 Squad to perform an ambush on ISIS convoys on their arrival to the compound. It went well, and much of their supplies were stolen by the squad. Supposedly, the compound was supposed to be supplied with more equipment and weapons but after the ambush they were left short on ammunition for much of the insurgents. The second day prompted Lambda 3 and the SAC/SOG's Regiment 43 to sabotage a power grid that supplied the compound with electricity. The sabotage was successful, and it left the insurgents isolated without outside communications. The third and final day prompted a coordinated attack on ISIS training camps where insurgents were trained to be posted on the compound. An intel gathered by an ISIS double agent revealed that the compound was already low on ammunition and half of the insurgents left the compound early than expected. Only 68 insurgents were being posted there, the original numbers had 400 of them patrolling the area.
At the same time, legions of the U.S. national guards performed a month counterinsurgency operation to fend off ISIS from U.S. soil once and for all. ISIS cells and its remnants within 7 states became inoperable and four ISIS insurgents who took control of those cells were sentenced to death. Congress lifted off the martial law and the Biden administration broke its representative status with Syria. By August of 2024, ISIS was left isolated in Syria and had no other cells overseas anymore. The Taliban broke its allegiance to ISIS and much of Bashtun's insurgents turned against him.
D. End of an Era — Collapse of ISIS
After the November U.S. election won Trump as the 49th U.S. president again, he ordered an attack on an ISIS headquarter. Bashtun wasn't there, but after hearing that the HQ got destroyed, ISIS was already on the verge of collapse. Already losing almost all of the resources, Bashtun's last line of defense was to isolate himself on the compound and ordered those who were still loyal to him to defend it at all costs. Former ISIS insurgents then were employed by the Agency to gain as much information as possible about Sunny's wellbeing should Bashtun take desperate measures.
1. Death of Bashtun and the successful hostage rescue of Sunny
On January of 6th, 2025, ISIS opposition forces along with Daggers' Epsilon 14 Squad, SAC/SOG Regiment 113, and the SLF, stormed the compound and took out the last remaining insurgents who were defending the compound from the outside. At 1:33 PM, 2LT. Earl Chirrey, infiltrated the compound and took out Bashtun on the head as he had Sunny on his grasp. CSAR units then rescued Sunny out of the compound and flew him back to Alaska. Mari and his friends were supposed to be there awaiting his safe return. At 2:47 PM, a C-17 Globemaster carrying him landed in Fairbanks and an escort drove Sunny back to Faraway. At 3:08 PM, the convoy arrived and Sunny was reunited again with Mari and his friends. Back at the compound, Bashtun's body was left inside and SLF demolitionists blew it up, leaving his body incinerated by the sheer explosion. The operation was deemed successful by the Agency.
2. Aftermath and response
The Death of Bashtun prompted the collapse of ISIS and its former insurgents were pardoned by the ICC. The success of Operation Child of Resurgence then spread the news like wildfire. The disappearance of ISIS brought back the United States to a stabilized state. As a promise by the government, Sunny would be funded for his necessities and he would be granted absolute immunity until he reaches 18 years old.
Al-Asad's administration quickly apologized due to their slow response of the situation that had happened in Syria and their carelessness of fighting back ISIS. Despite the criticism, terrorism in Syria became nonexistent and recovered from all the damages that they had faced.
