Ryo presented as a beta, the only beta in their group and has not yet found his mate ever since he turned 18. He thought maybe it's because he is an idol and his mate is somewhere out there, not in this industry. But it's not like he is sad, he believes that he will eventually find his mate just like his JaeRi hyungs. They have yet to know their mates until lastart happened, while his Yushi hyung and Sion hyung knew that they're mates since they were together for so long.
Today is a special day, it's not his birthday or anything but it's Sakuya's birthday. And he is also going to present. All of them haven't really known Sakuya's since they all passed out before midnight due to their hectic schedules. Ryo even passed out on Yushi's bed which made him not the first one to know about Sakuya's presenting. The beta yawned and looked over his phone finding unread messages from their group chat. He opened it and his eyes widened at the news.
Sion: CONGRATS SAKUYA, HE PRESENTED AS AN ALPHA!!!
The other hyungs congratulated the maknae and Ryo never felt so happy for his best friend. He expected it but still, he is still beyond happy. Sakuya, even though he is all pink and cute, he is presented as an alpha and Ryo could think of a list why. But still, he didn't expect his predictions to become true. Ryo excitedly jumped from the bed to go to their dining, where he found the hyungs setting down their ordered breakfasts. He looked around, finding no sign of Sakuya. As if reading his mind, Yushi looked at him from his cup of coffee, "He's coming down."
Ryo pouted, "I didn't even say anything yet."
Sion laughed as he sat beside his mate, "Of course we know you'd be asking for him first as he did for you earlier."
The hyungs find it endearingly that both of the maknaes first words when they presented were looking for each other. Ryo was also looking for Sakuya when he presented as a beta.
"He's looking for me?" Ryo's face says that he is indeed surprised by the sudden news, yet he is internally happy by it. The hyungs replied 'yes' in unison while preparing their breakfast.
“Did he already go to the Doctor?” Ryo asked worriedly. Sion nodded at him, “Yes, he presented around 3 am. I woke up because of his pheromones and he’s experiencing a pre-rut. That's why me and manager hyung immediately brought him to the clinic. Worry not, he’s stable now because of the inhibitors.” Sion explained. The beta sighs in relief.
Suddenly, Ryo froze as he smelled something sweet like the smell of pastries in bakeries. It was so strong that he slowly looked at the source of the smell and made eye contact with a frozen Sakuya at the entrance of the dining room. The smell was getting stronger and it made Ryo's body melt, he felt his legs weakening if not for him holding onto the counter.
Sakuya, unknown to him, let out a low growl, "mate" and then stride towards Ryo. Ryo didn't notice that he let out a whimper as Sakuya got closer. He was happy, yet at the same time he felt being overpowered, as if he needed to submit. And it hit Ryo hard.. they're mates. When Sakuya finally ended up inches close to him, he looked up and they stared at each other's eyes before Sakuya wrapped his arms around his waist, his head resting on Ryo's shoulder. This action made Ryo want to hold the other as Sakuya's sweet scent became even more stronger.
"I can't believe we are mates, Ryo." Sakuya then said, "I'm so happy." This made Ryo blush. He can't really utter a single word as he is still in shock but deep inside he knows he's beyond happy knowing that his best friend is his mate.
"Congratulations on you two, and to you as well our maknae for presenting as an Alpha," Sion suddenly interrupted. The maknaes both break the hug and look towards their hyungs who were smiling widely at them.
Ryo's face is happy yet confused, Jaehee then asks, "Ryo, when you turned 18, didn't you feel the pull?"
Ryo was too confused, what pull are they talking about?
Seeing the second maknae's reaction the hyungs look at each other, Riku then continued explaining, "it's like you look for them the very first moment just like how both of you guys look for each other first thing you presented. And the pull, as if wanting to protect, to care, to be with that person for the rest of your life. Didn't you feel that Ryo-chan?" And then it hits Ryo hard again. Everything they said is true, he did feel that. "I did but.."
"You did but you thought it is only natural for you to care about Sakuya like that given that both of you are already close to each other," Yushi continued for him and Ryo nodded. Ryo felt Sakuya gripping his hand tightly and the beta even melted more as Sakuya's pheromones became even more sickeningly sweet.
Ryo gripped the head of the chair, resisting to just throw himself at his best friend, he spoke, "S-sakuya, your pheromones please control it. It's making me dizzy." And that's when the hyungs interfered. Jaehee pulled Ryo out from Sakuya's grasp and Sion and Riku pulled Sakuya which made Sakuya growl. His pheromones getting more powerful seeing his mate being taken away from him. Yushi hugs Ryo from behind and releases his pheromones which collide with Sakuya's, this will make Ryo be at ease for a while.
Sion stood in front of Sakuya, making the younger glare at him for covering his sight of his mate. Sion leaned in closer to the younger's face, "Sakuya, are you in rut? If not, if you can. Can you please control your pheromones? No one is going to take Ryo away from you, and you are giving Ryo a hard time with the kind of pheromones you are emitting. Please?" Then Sakuya, as if realization hit him, was back again to normal. His pheromones still lingered but it was softer and a lot easier to breathe in. It was a friendly one and loving for his mate. Yushi and Jaehee noticed Ryo who was panting earlier, his breathing has normalized and his legs aren't wobbling anymore.
Ryo is the first one to break free from his hyungs and run towards Sakuya who welcomed him with open arms.
"I'm so sorry Ryo, I didn't mean to scare you. I still don't know how to control my pheromones if I'm feeling something. Just the thought of you being my mate made me overall become more possessive over you as I can finally and legally call you mine," Sakuya suddenly confessed, making Ryo break their hug, his eyes widening. Sakuya's face is so red, Ryo looks at his hyungs and their faces say that 'he is a fool'.
"Ehhh? What do you mean by that? Do you like me?" Ryo said, making Sakuya blush. They heard Jaehee and Sion giggling but the two of them didn't mind. "I've liked you since trainee days, why didn't you notice that?" Sakuya said in a sulking tone.
Yushi snickered and there's a smirk on his pretty face, "Maybe if you're not gay panicking over Ryo-chan's clinginess he will be able to notice a little bit?" The hyungs laugh, Ryo giggles, and Sakuya blushes even more. He sent a playful glare towards Yushi which the older teased him more by sticking his tongue out like a child.
Ryo held Sakuya's hands and squeezed it gently, he then smiled at him with his signature maltese smile making Sakuya's heart ache in happiness, "stupid, I've been crushing on you too since trainee days. We are both so stupid." It was his turn turning like a tomato as he looked down, trying to hide his burning face. Sakuya's heart jumped in joy, he couldn't help his smile getting wider.
The hyungs were somewhat shocked though.
JaeRi let out an 'Ehhhh?' At the same time, Yushi was gasping, clearly shocked at the news and Sion was gasping and ijboling as usual. Ryo looked at them quite offended, "What? Am I not giving him enough signs that you guys didn't even notice too?" The hyungs nodded and Ryo let out a sad sigh. It seems like he didn't convey his feelings enough to be noticed by his long-time crush.
Jaehee then comforted him, "it's not like you lack signs but it all looks so natural as you are doing those things with us too, no I mean, you are a bit more clingy to him than us but you know, do you get me?" Jaehee even got confused in his own words, Riku laughed at his mate's adorableness, patting his head endearingly.
With lack of attention from his mate, Sakuya unintentionally let out a sweet scent as if saying 'attention please' that made the smaller boy's attention get back to him. "Enough of them notice me too," Sakuya whined while pouting, this made Ryo's heart melt and he let out a giggle as he put his hands on both cheeks of his alpha, squeezing it.
Sakuya, "It's okay Ryo, the important part is my feelings were reciprocated and we are also mates. You don't know how happy I am." Sakuya then suddenly sniffed as if smelling him, he smiled at Ryo and asked, "Do you know what the smell of your pheromones is?" Ryo shook his head.
"I thought betas don't have a smell?"
"They do, it's just that people will not be able to guess right away except their mate of course," Yushi explained.
"I can smell you, something sweet but I can't guess because it's so faint, now I'm also curious," Riku said which made all of them look at Sakuya.
Sakuya has a proud smile on his face, "Ryo smells like mango."
"Ehhh? That's my favorite fruit, does it have something to do with what you like? Cause Saku you also smell sweet like pastries," Ryo explained. It's such a coincidence that both of them smell sweet. Both Ryo and Sakuya stare at each other with big smiles on their faces. It was interrupted with Sion clapping, "Okay you can do that later, for now let's eat!"

As soon as they're done eating, Sakuya immediately grabs Ryo towards their shared room.
The hyungs who are watching have one thing in their mind and it was Sion who spoke of it sadly, "I guess I will be stripped of being Ryo's dad."
Meanwhile in the Maknae's room.
"You should wear these for today's airport fashion," Sakuya put down the clothes on Ryo's bed. He had carefully chosen these clothes from his and Ryo's closet. The bottom was of Ryo's but everything else was Sakuya's. This made Ryo look at him, confused.
"Why am I wearing your clothes?" Ryo asked, clearly confused. Sakuya pinched his cheek and with a smile, "so that I only smell you in my scent and you can only smell mine." This made Ryo blush and nod in acknowledgment.
"How about you? How can I scent you, do you want to—" "Of course I want to!" Sakuya whined again, this made Ryo smile adoringly to his mate. Sakuya suddenly exclaimed loudly, his eyes had sparkles in it.
"How bout you hug me? Scenting with the use of hugs is effective too, only if you want to." Sakuya suggested. Ryo's heart is aching in so much happiness, the Fujinaga Sakuya is asking for a hug. Who is he to refuse?
Ryo then pushed Sakuya to sit on the bed as he sat on the alpha's lap and hugged him. Sakuya wrapped his arms around his mate's waist and his head resting on Ryo's shoulder facing his scent glands, he inhaled the beta's scent and hugged the smaller boy tightly. Ryo did the same and rubbed his face on Sakuya's neck, earning giggles from the alpha.
Ryo then faced Sakuya as he confessed, "I still can't believe that my crush, my best friend, is my mate. I was thinking before when the time comes you are not to be my mate I can only like you secretly for the rest of our lives. I can't really imagine you being mates with others but I can't fight fates," Sakuya held him more tightly upon his confession. He kissed Ryo's jaw so suddenly that it made Ryo freeze. Sakuya grinned at the reaction of his beta, making Ryo pout.
Sakuya, "For me, I'm always praying for us to be mates. That's why on your 18th I was happy that you still didn't find your mate. Guess my prayers were heard?" The both of them grin as they hug again.
Ryo mumbles, "Let's stay like this for a while, please." Sakuya let out a 'hmm'.
Who is he to refuse this? If he could, he would like to cuddle his mate all day.
Ah.. he loves Ryo so much he could die.
