Summary
Blue Eyes lay awake within his family nest. His parents snored softly from beside him, clearly unperturbed by the human’s presence. Lucky for some. Every time he closed his eyes, he saw her face. Her eyes, wild and afraid, staring at him from across the river. Blue Eyes saw green eyes every single day, everywhere he looked – his parents, Ash, his uncles and aunts. What was so special about hers? Then, when he was suitably frustrated, his brain would conjure up a different image of her, sat cross-legged in her shelter and smiling up at him, green eyes filled with surprise and gratitude. His stomach flipped, the knots tightening painfully.
Blue Eyes had never felt this way before, but one thing was for sure – he did not like it one bit.
