Summary
A strange and sudden noise startled Vox, almost making him drop his nearly empty glass. He straightened up in the armchair, squinting as if to help his ears focus on the sound. It reminded him of some kind of animal cry, but none that he recognized. Vox remembered the stories the local hunters had told him about an elusive deer with fur as red as blood. The man laughed at the thought, at how gullible the townsfolk were, especially those in these areas.
