Polyamorous For The Rent

Summary:

Shoto, Izuku, and Bakugou moved in together a year ago so that they could afford rent. They all have their roles; Bakugou meal preps for the hard working heroes. Izuku sets up self care things for them and cleans the house. Shoto gives them small gifts that demonstrate he’s listening and showing support. Those roles change one day, though.

Work Text:

It’s just a random Tuesday, everyone getting ready for work in their typical routine. Before they’re out the door, “Don’t forget! I’m doing facials tonight,” Izuku tells them cheerily as Katsuki hands them packed lunches on their way out.

Sleepy™ Todoroki messes up and kisses Katsuki’s cheek as he grabs his lunchbox with a beautifully crafted bento. Katsuki looks a bit stunned and Izuku covers his mouth to suppress the giggle. Katsuki looks indignant, gesturing to the split haired roommate who has the audacity to kiss him apparently. Izuku humors him with a pout and shuffles Shouto out the door by his shoulder. “Okay, kids. Into the car. We’re late for work,” Izuku sing-songs. “But he!” Katsuki starts his yell, finally breaking from his stupor. “Yes, yes. Very cute. Tell me about it tonight,” Izuku laughs. Katsuki huffs, “‘M not cute,” before following them out the door with a growl.

Their necessitated cohabitation has turned rather…domestic, now that Katsuk thinks about it. Shouto apparently was comfortable enough to mistake him for a lover handing him a lunch bento in his sleep dazed state…Well, he was handing him a lunch bento, but the rest was preposterous! Obviously. Right? He couldn't shake it the rest of the day. What would Shouto be like to date? He was always so sweet, giving things to show he cared even to his stupid roommates. When Katsuki was sore after a big fight, Todoroki had gone to get him a cold compress for his back from the store. After rechilling it a few times, Katsuki barked to just give him the source directly. He had obliged and held the small of Katsuki’s back all night, allowing him to sleep without pain.

He was always sweet like that, but so was Deku. He’d gotten so used to the nerds soft touches at this point, they practically were lovers. Not- well, that’s not…ugh. They just hugged a lot now, okay? And he’d managed to get Katsuki comfortable enough to accept foot massages after a long day of hitting the pavement on patrol, and then facials, and bubble baths…Now he just accepted everything the nerd gave him. It wasn’t pity from a stronger peer, it was care from a friend. That took awhile to sink in, but seeing him do the same for Shouto—not being alone in the intimacy—well, it helped him accept it far more easily. Todoroki was strong as hell, and if that idiot needed some self care then Katsuki could sit through some spa bullshit, too. He really did like the facials. He can’t even front like he isn’t buzzing for them every time the nerd plans them.

So, Shouto is silent and sweet, and Izuku is a bit more hands on. Anybody would be lucky to have either of them as a partner. Not that katsuki needs any of that. He doesn’t need someone fawning all over him, thirsting for his dick and drawing him baths because—oh. Well, becuase they do that for him, don’t they? Not the thirsting after his dick…but they take care of him. Weird. “Hey, shark tooth. When was I seeing that one chick…black hair, saggy rack,” Katsuki leaned out of his cubicle to ask Eijirou. “Oh! Yeah, Sara. She was nice. Probably too nice for you,” he snickered in return. “Yeah, yeah. How long ago was that?” “Um…a little over a year I think? Why? Don’t tell me there’s a certain 9 month bread cooking!” Ei gasped scandalously. “What? Nah, nothing like that. A year?” Katsuki wave off. “Yeah,” he confirmed, chewing a pencil obnoxiously. He really hadn’t dated anyone in over a year? He hadn’t even realized. “You dating anyone?” Katsuki makes conversation, swirling the past year in his head like a stew. “Why? What to go on a double date?” Eijirou spins in his chair, staring at the ceiling. Katsuki snorts, “With who? You setting me up?” Eijirou stops and scrunches his brow, turning to face his friend. “But aren’t you…” he started. Katsuki gestures for him to get on with it. “I thought you lived with your partner?” he doubts, sitting up fully. “What?” Eijirou gives him a look, as if waiting for an explanation. “I’m single,” Katsuki barks, rolling his eyes at the buffoon he calls a friend. “Ah, shit. I’m sorry man. You should’ve told me. You just looking for a rebound, or-” Ejirou starts apologizing. “What? From saggy- from sara? You just said it’s been a year. Who rebounds a year later, hair for brains,” Katsuki barks, waving him off to start his paperwork again. “No, your boyfriend. He didn’t move out?” Eijirou presses. “What the fuck are you on about?” Katsuki barks, irritation mounting. “You know, your boyfriend. Draws you bubbles baths you won’t shut up about, bought you your favorite protein powder last month,” Eijirou spells out like he was a forgetful child. Izuku. Shouto. He was talking about his roommates. “They’re not my fucking-!,” Katsuki stops his yell part way, taking a deep breath to calm himself. “I was never dating my roommates . We just all needed cheap rent,” Katsuki grits out. “Really? And here I thought you were hiding them from me this whole time. Roommates? Plural?” Eijirou easily drops the subject, turning back to his work. “Yeah…” Katsuki contemplates telling him the missing key. He never told his friends when they moved in together, rent prices rising and wages cut by the new hero endorsement restrictions. Now was as good a time as any he supposes. “It’s, uh, Deku and Half and Half.” “Hmm?” “MY roomates.” “Midoriya and Todoroki, from our class?” Katsuki nodded and Eijirou let out a long hum. “Ahh, yeah. They were always great dudes. The whole…care treatment thing, makes a whole lot more sense,” he chuckles. A few minutes after of Katsuki replaying the conversation in his head and ruminating on how his best friend thought he was in a relationship this entire year. “You really thought we were dating this whole time?” Katsuki asked for clarification. “Oh, yeah dude. We all did. I didn’t know we were talking about two people, though, so that made me misunderstand,” Eijirou evaluates. “How? Because there’s two of them?” Katsuki pinches his brows, unsure how two people became one in the first place. “Well, you’d say all this sweet stuff your roommate did for you, taking care of you and paying attention to you. I totally thought you were covering up your relationship, or not—like—coming out,” Kirishima gave him a sideways glance as he picked up a football and tosed it to Katsuki. “But two people—makes the whole dating guess a bit stupid, huh?” Kirishima laughs off his misunderstanding. Does it? You can’t date two people, obviously. And they’re only roommates anyway, so it doesn’t matter in the first place. “I’m not gay,” Katsuki finally responds, tossing the football back. “That’s cool dude,” Kirishima catches it with a grin. His smile gets a little softer, a little smaller. “It’s cool if you are, too,” he adds. Katsuki gives a short nod and turns back to his paperwork without comment, only to spend the rest of his shift figuring out what exactly he likes in a partner and categorizing what he likes about his roommates. The overlap was a bit messy.

That night, Katsuki’s confused brow scrunch is rubbed away by Deku’s soft hands. His callouses would be rough if he wasn’t always offering to massage lotion into his bone-tired roommates. Katsuk thought he had a thing for feet for a bit, admittedly. Katsuki lets out a deep sigh, sinking the weight of his head into the nerd’s lap fully. “There you go Kaachan,” Izuku encourages, running his hands in a circular motion around his temples, down to his chin and back. He pets down his nose and stretches his jaw with careful touches until Katsuki is half dozing on his lap like a content puppy. Todoroki sits with Katsuki’s feet in his lap, rubbing a soft stroke on his ankle back and forth with his thumb as he reads his book, already sitting with his mask after his turn. After Deku paints on the mud mask to let it dry, he moves to pressing repeated, mind-numbing pressure over Katsuki’s decolletage. Katsuki dips his head back, arching his neck just slightly to allow for more access. Izuku pets a thumb down his throat lightly and hums, “So pretty Kaachan,” as if thinking aloud to himself. Katsuki shoots his eyes open in shock, never usually putting so much stock into what Izuku comments during their pamper sessions, usually waving it off as affirmations or whatever. “What?,” Izuku chuckles, “You know you’re pretty. Now turn over, I’ll do your scalp,” Izuku taps his shoulder to redirect him and allow him to massage his scalp. Katsuki swallows and after a moment, turns to his stomach to lay his now dried face on to Deku’s stomach so he had full access to melt Katsuki’s mind. Of course Ei thought they were dating. This was…intimate. He couldn’t bring himself to mind, though, as the static buzzing from the scalp scratches sent tingles down his spine. Instead, he found himself wrapping his arms to hold Izuku. Were they snuggling? Fuck that felt nice…Katsuki thought as he was pulled deeper into a relaxed state, kneading Izuku’s side like a cat making biscuits.

After achieving optimal goo levels, Izuku withdrew his hands from the blonde spikes and shifted him back onto his back on the couch, switching places and standing to stretch and pop out his own cricks. “Shoto, you ready to wash?” Izuku asked, earning a nod and leaving Katsuki to melt like honey into the cushions on his own. It wasn't obvious…but it was? It was so easy being with these two dorks, he should’ve realized they practically were dating. But there’s three of them…because they wanted affordable rent closer to their agencies. He felt stupid every time he reminded himself they were just roommates, especially because they were nothing more than roommates that morning. Stupid half and half not being able to wake up like a proper adult. And Izuku just laughed , the shithead. When his roommates returned, his clay mask had been aggressively scrubbed from his face, causing Deku to pout. Katsuki set down a bottle and three glasses. “Let’s drink.”

------

They were thoroughly sloshed if Izuku’s giggles were anything to go by. With that guy’s dense muscle, he was a heavyweight far superior to anyone Katsuki had met. They each had their own chair or couch respectfully, just chatting and blowing off some steam in a less calm way than an hour ago. Fuck peace. Laughing with friends was better. “Hey. Any of you shits dating someone?” Katsuki asked, the nagging in his head pushing him to do so. Maybe they were normal, unlike him. Maybe they were just affectionate because they were sweet, kind people who needed protecting from this cruel world, and everyone else’s bastardization of the subject was tainting their pure hearts. Stupid shark teeth, didn’t know what he was talking about. “Katsuki I think you’d know if we were dating someone,” Shouto quirked an eyebrow. Katsuki tsked. “Just three single guys, 5 feet apart because we’re not gay!” Izuku sang from his couch, feet over the back and head dropping from the seat upside down.

“Hey! Remember when Todoroki kissed you this morning?” Izuku teased through a fit of self inflicted giggles. “I did?” the duo toned boy said shocked, eyes round in surprise. “Ha! Coffee creamer, you’re more sober when you’re drunk!” Katsuki laughed heartily. “Be nice Kaachan! He’s just a sleepy boy. Like a little kitten,” Izuku smiles and tips his head back. “Did I really kiss you?” Shouto turned to him with the cutest— shit —tilt to his eyebrows. Katsuki bit his lip for a moment, just looking at the soft concern on his features. He broke out into a grin and huffed one laugh before tapping his face and confirming, “Yeah. Smacked me right here while I gave you your bento like a good little wife.” Shoto broke into an alcohol fueled grin and tried to hide his smile by biting his own palm. Wasn’t that a cute image, Katsuki in his apron and kissing him home… “Sorry,” Shouto mumbled as his cheeks pulled tight. “Eh don’t be. Not like I’m getting any action," Katsuki waved off, “Ei told me today, I haven’t dated anyone in over a year. Got in my head.” The other two blink as they think for themselves, each eventually realizing they’ve also not dated anyone in as much time. They hadn’t even wanted anyone else, not bothering to look. “Why was he in your head,” Shoto asks curiously. Katsuki shifts in his seat, sinking a bit lower and rolling his head to the side. He took another sip of his drink— definitely unnecessary at this point —and scoffs, “He thought we were fucking.” Shouto’s cheeks burst into flames at the comment. “Seriously?” he asked in disbelief. Katsuki nodded with pursed lips, and the three fell into silence as they let the notion wash over them. They had never really contemplated that before. It wasn’t even an option. Hadn’t even thought about it, truly.

“Well I could fuck Shoto,” Izuku chimes in to break the deep contemplation clouding the room. “Yeah?” Bakugou says with a suggestive smile. “Yeah. He’s hot as fuck. And he’s so nice. Really good boyfriend material,” Izuku lists, talking as if he was alone and forgetting in a drunken haze just who he was revealing his secrets to. “Um…what?” Shouto chokes out around his surprise. “Shut it pretty boy. We’re talking,” Katsuki was quick to quiet him, turning back to Izuku with interest, “Who would top tho?” “Well, that doesn’t matter much to me. I love how he treats me tho,” Izuku continues his analysis, eyes moving from the ceiling to lock with Katsuki’s seriously as if both forgot Todoroki’s presence completely. “You do?” Shoto interjects, flustered. Bakugou turns to the pink tinged boy and nods his head in agreement easily. “Yeah, but you treat us really well, too, Izuku. You make the end of the day so sweet. I never thought I’d like all your foo foo crap…but it’s really nice to come home to something so calm after fighting a nasty villain,” Bakugou reassures him, not wanting to discount all the care Izuku puts in for them. Izuku hums. “But Katsuki, you make sure we wake up in the morning. And you cook. You keep us all fed,” Shoto interrupts. “Damn right shortcake,” Katsuki says proudly with his whole chest, settling into a spread leg manspread that takes up his whole couch, draping his arms across the back to stare down Todoroki like a challenge. They are rather pliant with the alcohol, more truthful than usual.

“Well, that makes me feel loved,” Shoto admits. “What?” Bakugou freezes. “No one cooked for me growing up. You give me something special. I love that,” Shoto lowers into a shy whisper with all the eyes on him. “Would you date Kaachan, Shoto?” Izuku asks contemplatively. “Oh um…” Shoto taps his knee, unsure how he should answer that question. They’re roommates after all. He wouldn’t want to make it awkward. He’d never thought of it before and he feels on the spot, but wasn’t surprised as he thought through the steps in his head. He couldn’t imagine it any different than they were now. “You two would make a cute couple,” Izuku tilts his head, obviously imagining it. “I bet you kiss really soft,” Katsuki nods along, agreeing as he visualizes it too. Shouto chokes on his breath, hitching and freezing it in his chest. It rattles out of him as he stares back at the lingering eyes appreciating him. “C-can I try?” he asks cautiously. “To kiss me?” Bakugou asks. Shoto doesn’t respond, but instead shifts up from his seat and moves closer. He brushes a finger over Katsuki's cheek and grows his confidence. “Come here,” Katsuki demands, tugging him gently into a solid, strong kiss. After a moment, Shoto gave in fully and fell into him. They broke apart and Katsuki kept him in his lap, rearranging him. Shoto looked lost but content at the same time.

Izuku, now upright and attentive, placed his crossed arms under his bent knees and shuffled his chin down to hide half his face. Bakugou looks over at him, thinking through their history together and everything they’ve overcome. He nods his head to gesture him over. Izuku pops his head up in surprise. “Want to taste you too. I’ve got to compare,” Katsuki plays. Izuku nodded and moved closer on the couch, leaning in to dip their mouths together tentatively.

It was amazing. Kissing them both felt amazing. How had Katsuki never thought of this before? Shoto tasted like sweet berries, and Deku like the spiced whiskey they drank. Shoto had really soft lips, while Izuku’s were a bit firmer. Katsuki could feel the hair prickle on the back of his neck as he enjoyed Izuku’s mouth pressing against his own. When Izuku pulled back, an almost nervous expression crossed his features as if asked ‘ Is this okay? ’. Katsuki smiled and brought a hand up to drag a thumb across his bottom lip. He shifted to cradle Izuku’s face and the boy finally broke their gaze, opting to let his eyelids drift closed and settle his cheek into the rough palm. As Izuku slid down to his knees and settled on the couch next to Katsuki, Katsuki looked back at their other roommate, now looping his arms around Katsuki’s shoulders for balance. “Do you want to kiss him too, pretty boy?” Katsuki asks softly, watching Shoto’s features carefully. He caught the slight hitch in breath and blown pupils when he called the pet name. It made Katsuki smile wolfishly. “Yeah,” Shoto nodded his agreement.

Shoto leaned over to kiss Izuku, cupping his jaw with his free hand while still hanging off of Katsuki’s shoulders. And it was…kind of awesome. Katsuki was close to both of them, and they were hot. He guesses he always knew they were hot, like objectively, but he hadn’t realized he thought they were hot.

They were hot.

And they were really sweet, too. Katsuki felt like such a sap admitting it, but they both kind of were the perfect partners. They had started living together out of necessity, but not once can he remember any of them having serious issues. Never being annoyed, never having big fights, never pushing each other unnecessarily. And Katsuki wanted to kiss them. He wanted to keep them forever. He hadn’t even realized when that happened, but he had felt this whole time that he had already had them. Sure, he definitely was taking them for granted, but he’ll take responsibility for it now. He’s not one to wait around for the things he wants. No, he takes them. When his Christmas coded roommates separated, Katsuki called both of their attention. “Hey,” he smirked, “Do you both want to be my boyfriend?” A giggle from Izuku, and a shocked blink from Todoroki. “You’re gay?” the peppermint asked. “Must be if I’m into you,” Katsuki quipped with a shrug. Izuku burst out into full blown laughter now, throwing his head back in hilarity. Shoto looked over, asking, “What?” cluelessly. Katsuki looked at him and grinned.

It was hardly even an adjustment for them. The softies (because Katsuki could never classify as soft, not to anyone else at least) decided they’d spend their 2 year anniversary with their friends. They rented the whole place out and Katsuki couldn’t keep his hands off them all night, a beer in one and trading boyfriends in the other. When Deku stepped out of his grasp, an annoyed grunt would call after him. “Don’t pout, don’t pout,” he’d chuckle, shoving their other boyfriend to replace his spot in Katsuki’s I-swear-I’m-not-needy grasp. Katsuki kissed the top of his head, drawing him in, and Shoto easily took up the space reserved for him. Katsuki manages to snag Izuku’s belt loop before he escapes, drawing him in with Shoto. “I’m going to marry you both one day,” Katsuki whispered into Shoto’s scalp, looking at Deku. “We’d love that, Katsuki,” Shoto smiles as Deku blushes and flusters, hiding his face in Katsuki’s opposite clavicle.

Thank you so much for reading! I planned on making this smutty and didn't, but let me know if anyone wants an alternate ending 😉
