[Bakugo]Friday 6:14pm: Kirishima

Bakugo stared at his phone feeling the pit in his stomach widen. Against his better judgement he had slowly been letting Kirishima into his life for quite some time now and he had never really gotten over waiting for the other shoe to drop.

Was this it?

He looked at the time and noted it was now almost an hour since the last message and he still had no idea where he was supposed to meet them or at what time. Kirishima had mentioned tickets, but had never given him one, so how the fuck was he supposed to get in and meet them? Was Kirishima expecting to meet him at the entrance? But, which entrance? Surely the festival had several though Bakugo wasn't really sure. He had assumed that Kirishima would be walking with him so he had never bothered looking up any of the details.

Grumbling to himself he pulled up the festival information on his phone and noted there were three entrances, the closest of which was about a 20 min walk from the dorms. Should he just start walking and hope he heard back? Bakugo stared at himself in the mirror and was conflicted. The old him wouldn't have agreed to go with anyone to a festival, let alone a bunch of people he didn't really know; he would be wearing comfortable sweats and playing video games. Instead here he was wearing a pair of dark jeans and a fitted black shirt cause he wanted to look nice and considering heading out without having a clear plan simply because he didn't want to let Kirishima down. Dammit, he was even wearing eyeliner for that stupid idiot cause he always said he liked it.

Or, at least the thought Kirishima liked it. Now he was wondering if he really knew anything about the redhead, and why did it matter whether he liked it or not anyways.

Bakugo dropped into his desk chair with a huff and considered just playing video games until he heard from that stupid red haired idiot. If Kirishima messaged then he could pretend like he had forgotten about the festival but could still go out and, if he didn't, well then he had a night of video games. Bakugo checked his phone again and stared out the window.

Fuck it. He wasn't going to wait around in his room like some loser. He jumped from his chair, stepped onto his balcony, and used his blasts to propel himself away from the building; purposefully skipping the common room and any questions from their classmates. When he reached a good distance away he started walking, hands in his pockets, one gripping his phone which for once was not on silent.

Surely Shitty Hair would message him before he got to one of the entrances.

Ten minutes went by and Bakugo slowed to a stop. He was about halfway to the closest entrance but was this the best to go to? The east one was closer to Fat Gum's agency and Kirishima had said they were coming from work. He opened his phone and stared at the map.

For someone who was always so sure of himself, he was at a loss of what to do. It had seemed stupid to wait back at the dorm but wouldn't it be worse to run all over Mustufu, waiting at one entrance and then another only to never find them? He pressed Kirishima's name and listened as it rang 5 times.

He didn't answer.

Bakugo hung up and stood staring at the busy street. Normally he hated being dragged along to these type of events but right now he felt incredibly left out. Paranoid that everyone around him knew what had happened he hunched his shoulders forwards and turned around to hurry back to the dorms.

He could probably find Amajiki or Togata's contact information through the school and contact one of them, but that just seemed to scream of desperation. He didn't want to admit Kirishima hadn't though of him enough to formalize a plan. Stupid Shitty Hair, how hard is it to have a plan? He was probably having fun with the others right now and had forgotten all about him. Blinking back tears Bakugo rounded a corner to be back within site of UA. He quickened his pace and decided to blast back up to his room to make sure he didn't see anyone again. Why couldn't Kirishima have made a plan earlier than today? Why wasn't he texting him back? Why couldn't he just show up and make this whole problem go away? Ugh, Bakugo was wishing for this so hard he almost could hear Kirishima call after him

"Bakugo!"

"Bakugo!"

"BAKUGO!!!!"

"Kirishima?"

He focused his eyes in front of him and realized the redhead was jogging towards him from the dorm wearing a huge smile. He caught up to where Bakugo was standing and put a hand on his shoulder to stead himself as he caught his breath.

"I am SO glad I found you! I left my phone in my hero costume and didn't notice until we arrived at the festival when I went to share our location with you. Togata offered to contact you but I knew you didn't have his information and that you often block people so I ran back to the dorm to get you myself but you weren't there."

He panted heavily for a moment before standing up straight and knocking his fists together. "I am so sorry I didn't plan this better Bakugo. It was very unmanly of me to invite you and then leave you hanging like that."

Bakugo felt himself blush deeply hearing Kirishima's apology and how concerned he had been. Guess his worrying had been for nothing. "It's whatever Shitty Hair," he grumbled.

"No, no it's not." Kirishima surprised him as he dropped his manly stance, softening his voice, and reached down to take one of Bakugo's hands. "I want you to know you can depend on me, ok? I fucked up but I promise I won't do it again."

Well, if he wasn’t blushing before he was now. They locked eyes and for a minute Bakugo felt like time stood still, they were the only two that existed, and he felt more seen than he ever had before.

The moment started to feel too big to handle though.

"Not sure you can promise you won't forget your phone in your hero costume again?" He joked with a slight cough. He tried to pull his hand back but Kirishima held him fast while breaking into a wide smile.

“Fine. Maybe I can’t promise that, but I promise I’ll always come find you.”

Bakugo shivered. In the context of the festival it was a reassuring sentiment that he hadn’t been overlooked by his friend. However, it was impossible to ignore the obvious connection to Kamino. Kirishima squeezed his hand tightly.

“Yeah, ok,” he said softly squeezing back. “So uh, aren’t the tickets on your phone? We gotta go all the way back to the agency?”

“They’re in my UA email. I can just login from your phone so let’s go.”

Kirishima pulled him forwards and chattered about work all the way to the entrance. He only paused when they arrived at the entrance to get the tickets on Bakugo’s phone for them to enter, and then went right back to his story. Bakugo listened to him prattle on and for once wasn’t annoyed by the constant noise. Instead he focused on where their fingers were laced together, and had been, since Kirishima had come to find him.
