try not to get caught

Summary:

Yosuke learned something new about Yu and it was something he hadn’t anticipated at all. He discovered that the usually composed expressionless guy was actually the… clingy type. You know, the type of person that desperately clings to the touch of another’s skin whenever prompted.

Unbelievable, yes. Only because this was Yu, the former leader of the Investigation Team, he was talking about. The image of him acting like so wouldn’t exactly cross anyone’s minds. It never even crossed Yosuke’s mind, ever. It just… didn’t feel right.

That was what Yosuke initially thought as well. If someone were to say that Yu Narukami was the type of lover that yearns for physical contact, he believed he would have laughed straight into their faces without a doubt.

However, he witnessed it himself. Yosuke saw Yu Narukami in the flesh craving for physical intimacy. Craving for his physical touch. Not that he was complaining obviously. If anything else, Yosuke was loving the attention he was receiving. It just caught him off guard was all.

Yosuke never really minded it until it was already out of hand.

Notes:

hyperfixation so hard i wrote this in one sitting (help me) whenever i say ill just write a short fic, it always ALWAYS ended up being 5k words like wtf is up with that? anyway this just consists of 2 chaps, maybe 3 if i decide to add some 𝓯𝓻𝓮𝓪𝓴𝔂 time but highly doubt it coz i can just write a separate fic for that. as usual, not (never) beta read coz im impatient and it makes my head hurt

Chapter Text

The first incident happened right in the Samegawa Flood Plain. It was the main route towards their school, Yasogami High, so it wasn’t that uncommon for them to occasionally run into each other so early in the morning.

The brunette had his two hands tucked in between his armpits as an attempt to warm himself up a little. Summer just ended at the time and it was a few days after the needed wardrobe change as he walked to school.

He was also a tad bit sleep deprived, with Yosuke accidentally pulling an all-nighter because of a TV series he was finishing the night prior. The boy only realized how late it was when he saw the sun rising from the horizon accompanied by singing birds just outside his window.

Yosuke thought a cold shower would help wake him up but he was faced with another problem and that was shivering uncontrollably due to the cold morning. He sighed, deeply regretting he bathed at that time. He should have stuck to warm baths during the night. At least those felt refreshing and relaxing.

“Good morning, Yosuke.” A familiar voice was suddenly heard from beside him and when he turned his head into that direction, he saw a smiling Yu who looked both amused and worried with the current state he was in. “Are you… are you alright?”

“I’m so cold, dude.” Yosuke managed to say without cluttering his teeth together from how low his body temperature was. Even wearing his midwinter uniform didn’t help with the cold, Yosuke now had his own arms wrapped around his body as he shuddered.

Yu only chuckled which irritated Yosuke a little. “That’s so like you, though.”

“What the hell does that mean?” Yosuke retorted. He wanted to flail his arms around like he usually did whenever he wanted to get his point across. But it was a little impossible today it seemed.

Yu reached out a hand at him which earned the other a very confused look from Yosuke, his eyes darting from the open hand and to his smiling face. “Give me your hand.”

“What?” Yosuke asked with a little bit more of indentation at the word that may come off as sounding him being a bit rude. “Why would I give my hand to you?”

The silver-haired boy blinked, a little perplexed as to why his partner wasn’t automatically getting the message. “I’ll help you warm up.”

Yosuke narrowed his brown eyes at Yu, “And what exactly do you have in mind?”

“I’ll share my body heat?” Yu tilted his head to the side slightly, still a bit confused as to why Yosuke was being unnecessarily defensive that morning. “So you can warm up?”

“Wha–!?” Yosuke suddenly felt a blush creeping up to his face, his eyebrows knitting together. “W-We can’t do– Not here, Yu! We’re out in the open!”

The brunette now whipped his head at both his sides to see if there was anyone nearby that could be eavesdropping on them by chance. Yu could only blink stupidly, bewildered by how Yosuke was behaving oddly.

Yosuke and Yu had started dating for a couple of months now, maybe half a year at best. After finally solving the case and essentially killing a god, the two of them decided that perhaps it was about time to face their feelings for each other after they had found their true selves. Cliche but that’s just how it goes.

Although, their romantic relationship wasn’t exactly out in the open. Nobody knew they were dating each other besides themselves. Even their friend group had no idea and especially their parents and guardians.

It wasn’t like they wanted to hide and keep their status a secret to everybody, Yosuke just felt like he wasn’t ready for such a revelation. Thankfully, Yu didn’t mind their current situation as long as they had each other. Yosuke felt extremely grateful and thankful for that.

“Oh. Alright.” Yu’s smile dropped a bit as he withdrew his hand as well, now facing the road ahead looking a bit dejected as they walked beside each other. Yosuke frowned as he bit his lower lip, feeling guilty he had to reject Yu just from being considerate.

“I… I didn’t mean it like that.” Yosuke spoke up, his voice sounded small. “I mean, I would love to hold your hand, partner. It’s just… you know…”

“Are you saying you’ll take my hand if there was no one else around?” Yu asked, now looking at his boyfriend again. Yosuke kept his head low as he nodded, feeling slightly embarrassed as to why he had to reveal such a thing to the other. “I mean, yeah–”

Yosuke was cut off when Yu suddenly grabbed one of his wrists and pulled him somewhere. Yu just pushed him against the sturdy trunk of a nearby tree on the side of the road. The copper-haired boy was too surprised to even process what just happened, all he could just register was how close Yu’s face was to his.

“There’s no one else around, Yosuke.” Yu murmured, his silver eyes staring directly at Yosuke’s warm ones. The latter immediately reddened and felt his anxiety rise to his chest. He wanted to push Yu and yell to scold him but his body seemed like it didn’t want to listen.

“What are you doing?! What if somebody sees us?” Yosuke hissed through gritted teeth, a scowl present on his face. But Yu didn’t falter one bit, now leaning closer making their chests touch. “I told you, there’s nobody.”

“How can you be so sure? We’re in the middle of the floodplain! It’s easy to spot us!” Yosuke complained but made no effort in shoving his partner off of him anyway. If anything else, his heart rate just picked up as it thumped violently against his chest. He felt a bit worried and wondered if Yu could feel how fast his pulse was.

Yu couldn’t help but chuckle at how Yosuke was panicking, “Relax. I brought us into a corner. Nobody should be able to see us from this angle.”

Yu was right. The spot they were currently in seemed like a blindspot to anyone walking across the road. The huge tree they were under was also a factor that made them hard to spot unless they were actively sought out.

Yosuke just let out a shaky sigh as he gave up on trying to convince Yu, his once tensed shoulders slumping down. He hesitantly placed his hands on Yu’s arms, having the most difficulty in lifting his gaze to look at his partner.

“What do you want…?”

“You.” Yu smiled as he now pressed their foreheads together, the tips of their thin noses touching each other. Yosuke blushed even more, still avoiding his eyes. “H-How can you say cheesy stuff like that with a straight face? I swear sometimes I feel like you’re not real, man.”

Yosuke heard Yu laugh and the former could look away, somehow getting more flustered with each passing second. He could feel Yu’s hot breath against his chilly skin, making him tingle as he gulped. “That’s what you like about me though.”

The ginger-haired boy snapped a look at the other and open his mouth to protest only to close it again when he realized that Yu was right. “I hate that you’re right.”

“Do you, now?” Yu smirked as he grabbed Yosuke’s chin before pressing his lips against his. It made the shorter of the two tense up from the contact but he soon relaxed into it, sighing as he could feel himself melting from the kiss.

The kiss they shared was gentle and full of affection. Yu’s lips felt cold against his due to the weather but Yosuke could slowly feel it warm up against his mouth as their lips moved in sync. Both of them would sigh occasionally from contentment, feeling their shared hot breaths.

Yu now wrapped his arms around Yosuke’s waist to pull him closer, now their bodies tangled in each other as Yosuke’s hands remained on his partner’s strong arms. Yosuke could now feel how fast Yu’s heartbeat was against his chest, their hearts seemed to be beating in the same speed and rhythm.

The silver-haired boy finally pulled away with speckles of pink dust across his cheeks. Unlike Yosuke who was now beet red, panting slightly with eyes half-lidded. Yu then proceeded to pull Yosuke into a tight hug, the former resting his face against the crook of his boyfriend’s neck.

“Wh-What’s gotten into you?” Yosuke stuttered a little, hands hesitating before he returned the hug. Yu spoke but it was a bit muffled considering he had his face buried deep into the delicate skin of his neck. “I missed you.”

“We saw each other just the other day in school.” Yosuke tried to reason out, now resting his head against Yu as he rubbed comforting circles around on Yu’s broad back. This seemed like Yu’s cue to finally pull away as he smiled gently at his lover, “Am I not allowed to miss my boyfriend?”

The copper-haired boy could feel a blush creeping up to his face again so he tried to play it out by scoffing and rolling his eyes. “You’re so dramatic, Yu.”

“Again, you like that about me.” Yu placed a quick kiss on Yosuke’s kiss before finally getting off him, now dusting off imaginary dust of his uniform. The shorter of the two was disoriented for a second and could only scowl at how fast the other recovered from basically making out a minute ago. “C’mon, we’ll be late.”

Yosuke could only pout as he abided, now using his hands to flatten out his brown hair and blazer. He kind of knew he looked a bit disheveled just from that quick kissing session. But then, he would be lying if he said he didn’t enjoy that at all.

There was this kind of excitement that had his adrenaline kicking. The excitement of getting caught while doing things he shouldn’t with Yu definitely got both his heart and blood pumping. At first, he liked the ecstasy he got from it. It felt good. But due to how often it was happening recently, that exhilaration soon turned into anxiety.

The second incident happened on the rooftop of their highschool. It was lunch time when it happened. Their group was eating either their packed bentos or lunches they bought at the cafeteria. It was just like any other day at school, eating while either talking and bickering like usual.

“Your lunches are always so delicious, senpai. Thank you for sharing your food with us. I’d like to taste your cooking again soon.” Rise complimented Yu’s cooking when he let everyone have a taste since he stated that he accidentally made more food than he intended.

Everyone was just tidying up as well since it was a mere matter of time before the school bell would ring, indicating that their free period just ended. Yosuke simply had bread and instant noodles like Yukiko and Chie did, so they had to bring their trash along with them.

“Ah, crap. I just remembered I still haven’t done my homework.” Kanji panicky exclaimed, his huge body jolting as he prepared himself to dash downstairs. Naoto simply sighed disappointedly as they deadpanned at the other, “I believe I reminded you this last night, Kanji-kun.”

“Y-yeah! But I accidentally fell asleep so…” The blonde boy slumped his shoulders dejectedly and soon said his goodbyes to the group before basically dashing down the flight of stairs. Naoto and Rise soon followed after him while chatting with each other side by side.

The rest of the third-years were also on their way back to their classroom when suddenly Yosuke’s phone chimed, indicating that he just received an email. “Ah, hold on a sec.”

“Yukiko and I will be going. Do make it quick, though. Kashiwagi’s our next period and I don’t wanna hear her yap.” Chie said and soon she was gone alongside Yukiko as the metal door creaked behind them as it closed. Their conversation could still be heard a little though.

“Miss Kashiwagi always runs her mouth though, Chie.”

“I know! It’s just sometimes she tells us stuff about the heat cycle of birds. Birds! Like I care about any of that!”

“I think it’s interesting, though.”

“Please, don’t sound so invested in something stupid like that.”

Yu was the only one left behind with Yosuke on the rooftop, the latter now reading the contents of the message he just got. His thin eyebrows soon furrowed together as an annoyed scowl was plastered on his face. “Aw, man. I have to work at Junes later after school. We’re extremely understaffed.”

“Does that mean we can’t walk home together later?” Yu asked with a hint of concern in his voice as he sat on the elevated cement platform. Yosuke could only sigh heavily as he pinched the bridge of his nose. “Yeah. I have to leave immediately once school ends.”

Yosuke decided to sit right next to Yu, suddenly feeling exhausted just from the thought of having to work a full shift later in the evening at Junes. He let out a heavy sigh as he slumped his body forward.

“Do you want me to help you out?” Yu offered, hating to see his partner look this distressed. Yosuke was surprised by the offer, now giving a soft smile. “No, it’s okay. I can pretty much handle this on my own. But thanks, partner”

Yu mirrored his smile and nodded his head in understandment while Yosuke stood up again to stretch his arms and body. “We should get going too.”

As Yosuke was about to walk away, Yu suddenly grabbed his wrist that made him stop in his tracks promptly. He was surprised though from the sudden contact that he flinched and yelped a little. “W-What’s wrong?”

Yu had a troubled look on his face as he kept his grey eyes downward, as if he was debating whether he should voice out what was going on inside of his mind or not. In the end, Yu decided to say it out loud anyway.

“Can you… can you come here for a moment?”

“Huh?” Yosuke was beyond confused but he still obeyed what Yu was requisitioning, taking small steps forward until he was standing right in front of his partner. “Is something the matter? Is your stomach aching up? Was it something–?”

He trailed off when Yu suddenly grabbed him and wrapped his arms around his torso, greatly perplexing Yosuke who instantly panicked and blushed from the gesture. The brown-eyed boy didn’t quite know where to place his hands so he had them up in the air stupidly. “Y-Yu! What–!?”

Yu looked up as he rested his chin against Yosuke’s soft stomach, eyes pleading and expecting. “Can we stay like this for now?”

Yosuke felt his pulse quicken from merely seeing his boyfriend plead with nothing but his eyes. Honestly, he was starting to think that Yu was personally bad for his heart. It was just romantic to call it “his heart skipping a beat” because in reality it could be something serious like arrhythmia.

Yosuke was a weak man though.

“Yeah, sure…” He managed to say and he witnessed how Yu instantly brightened up, feeling his partner’s hug around his waist tightening as the latter basically buried his face on his stomach. Yosuke gulped as he hovered both of his hands over Yu’s head, desperately wanting to feel the silky hair strands run in between of his fingers.

It didn’t take long enough for the shorter of the two to gently place his palms against Yu’s head, slightly ruffling his hair. Yosuke liked the soft feeling of Yu’s silver hair against his hands that it made him smile and feel all fuzzy inside. He kind of wished they could stay like that forever.

Yu then proceeded to slightly pull his face away, now taking one of Yosuke’s hands into his own before intertwining their long fingers together. The brunette felt his heart beat fast as his eyebrows quivered, feeling elated at the sight of them holding hands.

Yosuke fixated his gaze on their joined hands and he loved how Yu’s hand perfectly fit his like puzzle pieces. It also felt warm against him and it was certainly enough to make him blush again. He could also feel Yu's thumb lovingly caressing his skin, making his breath hitch.

“Yosuke,” Yu breathed out and Yosuke couldn’t help but jump from the sudden mention of his name. “Yeah?”

“I want to kiss you.”

Yosuke felt like if he would feel more flustered than he was at that moment, he might actually die. He could feel all the heat in his body travel straight to his face, spreading across his cheeks and up to the tip of his ears. Yu Narukami might be the death of him.

“W-What!? We can’t! I-I mean, we’re at school!” Yosuke struggled with his words trying to knock some sense into his partner but unfortunately it wasn’t working. Yu only frowned, “But there’s no one around.”

“That’s not the point!”

“Just a simple one.” Yu pressed, now looking at Yosuke with the same pleading eyes he used back then on him on an occasion like this one. Yosuke felt like he was having deja vu. “Please, Yosuke?”

Yosuke closed his eyes to try to muster the self-restraint he had left but alas he had none. Yosuke was a weak man when it came to temptations, a very weak one in fact. He groaned, “Fine! Just one.”

Yu quickly curled his lips upwards as Yosuke awkwardly leaned down, eyebrows still knitted together in annoyance and eyes shut close as he waited for his partner to kiss him. The silver-haired boy first cupped one of his cheeks and glided his thumb on the spot under Yosuke’s eye.

The brunette shakily breathed when he felt the tingly sensation to where Yu was touching him. It didn’t take long after when he felt Yu’s lips against his, it felt incredibly soft and warm like always.

Yosuke loved it when he was kissing Yu. He loved the feeling when their lips would dance with each other to the rhythm only both of them knew. He also loved the occasional teeth clashes whenever their kiss got a little too passionate, their hot breaths mingling. It was one of those moments though, their gentle kiss turning into something more.

The ginger-haired boy felt Yu’s hands guide his lower body, pulling and tugging him closer until he was now sitting on top of Yu’s lap all while not breaking their heated kiss. Yosuke now had his thin arms wrapped around his partner’s neck, involuntarily bucking his hips upward as soon as he felt Yu’s hands going under his shirt.

How he managed to do so was a mystery to Yosuke since they were wearing their winter uniforms and he had his blazer all buttoned up to his clavicle. But he was too preoccupied to ponder at the moment when he felt Yu’s hand massage the delicate skin of his stomach, feeling fluttery all over.

Yosuke suddenly gasped into the kiss when he felt Yu’s hot tongue pushing its way inside of his mouth, his pulse quickening even more. Their tongues swirled together as Yosuke felt himself melting directly into Yu’s arms. Their passionate make-out came to a halt when they heard a familiar voice behind the rooftop’s doors.

“What are you guys still doing–?! Oh…” It was Chie and her outburst immediately stopped when she witnessed Yosuke kneeling down on the ground with his back against Chie, head hung low. Yu could only awkwardly look at the short girl. “What’s up with him?”

“I think he ate something that upset his stomach.” Yu stated as he rubbed Yosuke’s back, twitching his body as if he was about to throw up. Chie had a worried look on her face, “That looks bad. Should I call a teacher?”

“No, there’s no need. I can take him to the nurse’s office myself.” Yu reassured his friend but she still looked a little unconvinced. “You should head back. We’ll be there once Yosuke feels better.”

And with that, Chie nodded as she ran off. A quick moment of silence remained in the air as Yu made sure the girl was out of earshot before kneeling right next to Yosuke, who in reality was just very flustered just from almost being caught. Both of his face and ears were bright red like a tomato.

“Yosuke–”

Yu was cut off when Yosuke screamed as his closed fists hit the former’s chest, the silver-haired boy releasing a sound like he was in deep pain. “You dumbass! I already knew it was a bad idea! We almost got caught!”

“S-Sorry…” Yu managed to apologize as he clutched his hands close to his chest, his voice sounded a bit hoarse as he was still recovering from the pain of being hit right in the solar plexus.

Yosuke pointed an accusatory finger at his partner as he continued screaming, “Can you imagine if Chie saw us?! I just know she wouldn’t let that go! Oh my god…”

The brunette attempted to calm himself down by covering his face using his palms, breathing rather heavily as the red blush was still evident on his face. He could feel his own heart thrashing against his ribcage violently. He could even hear his own heart beat in his ears, now feeling his temples pulsate.

“We are not doing something like that again! You hear me, Yu?!”

“Yes… I’m sorry…”

Yosuke also liked doing what couples do with Yu but not as risky as doing it in public where anyone could just walk in on them. Sure, there was still unexplainable thrill in doing so but only to an extent. Too much of it was actually bad for Yosuke’s heart.

The last and recent incident was during a chilly evening at a school night. Yosuke was bored out of his mind and he didn’t have anything fun to do back at home. He also wasn’t in the mood to deal with Teddie and his shenanigans so he decided to step out of the house and hang around the town’s shopping district.

While he was at it, Yosuke ran into Yu who looked like he was also out for an evening walk. The two of them decided to hang out with each other, basically just talking about the usual topics they talked about. They went on and on, not realizing soon that it had become so late.

“It’s getting late, we should head back home.” Yosuke proposed when he finally noticed the time when he took his phone out from receiving an email from Teddie asking him where he hid the snacks in the house. He instantly ignored him and put his phone back into his pocket.

“Oh yeah, I didn’t notice the time.” Yu agreed, exhaling as visible fog pooled under his nose and mouth. Yosuke didn’t want to let go of Yu yet as he still wanted to spend more time with him. So, he proposed. “I’ll walk you home. And before you refuse, I insist.”

“Thanks, Yosuke.” Yu smiled warmly at him as the began to head towards the Dojima residence side-by-side, both of their shoulders grazing occasionally. It seemed like Yu felt the same as Yosuke.

It felt more chilly that night as the two boys would occasionally shiver as they shoved their bare hands into their respective pockets. There was a slight wind picking up as the magnificent shine of the moon befell on them, it looked particularly great on Yu as it looked like his silver hair was shining.

“Are you cold, Yosuke?” Yu suddenly asked, which slightly caught Yosuke off guard. “Huh? Oh, a bit. It’s not a problem though.”

“Do you want to hold hands?” Yu offered and the shorter of the two immediately tensed up as he felt both his face and ears heat up. He wanted to cover his face with something, anything. So, he just decided to bury his mouth inside the collar of his fuzzy jacket while keeping his gaze somewhere else.

As if reading Yosuke’s mind, Yu added, “There’s no one around.”

“I-I know that,” The ginger-haired boy bashfully turned his head away. He could feel his heart thumping loudly against his chest. Yosuke wanted this, he wanted to hold Yu’s hand in his so bad but he was afraid. But afraid of what? How would people perceive them? What would people say about them? How would people judge them?

Yosuke didn’t even realize that Yu was standing very close to him, gentle pretty eyes looking at him with so much care and understanding. He felt his breath hitch that soon evaporated into the cold night, staring directly into Yu as those mesmerizing orbs felt like it was seeing every part of him including the ones he wanted to hide.

“It’s no good?” The silver-haired boy was slightly pouting that it tug at Yosuke’s heartstrings. Yosuke could only sigh in defeat as he shook his head, a pink blush still evident on his slightly freckled cheeks, “No, I… I want it.”

Yu broke into a full grin as he took one of Yosuke’s hands into his own. His hand didn’t have the same usual warmth whenever they held hands but the usual familiarity was still there. It felt comforting, soothing even. Yosuke always felt right whenever he was with Yu like this.

And so, both of them walked down the quiet streets of Inaba with joined hands. Yosuke loved it whenever Yu would squeeze his hand alongside with affectionately grazing at his knuckles using his thumb. The sensation was all enough to send electric shocks on the areas Yu was caressing, feeling like his skin was on fire.

It didn’t take long for them to finally reach Yu’s house, Yosuke now furrowing his eyebrows together because he didn’t exactly want to let go of his partner just yet. The taller of the two immediately noticed this so he cupped his free hand against the other’s face, making Yosuke flinch from the contact.

But soon enough, Yosuke began to relax. He closed his eyes as he nuzzled his cheek more against Yu’s palm, sighing in contentment. Yu positioned his fingers right behind Yosuke's red ears, playing with it while his thumb continued to graze his high cheekbones. “I have to go, Yosuke.”

The copper-haired boy’s frown only deepened, releasing a small sound of displeasure. “J-Just a bit more? Please? Don’t… don’t go yet.”

Yu felt his chest swell as he chuckled at how Yosuke was acting this adorable right in front of him, “You’re so clingy today. What’s gotten into you?”

Yosuke flinched as he began to panic a little, he couldn’t exactly get his mind straight as it was only full of thoughts of his partner. “I mean, yeah we’ll see each other in school anyway. But, it’s not the same as this , you know? God, what am I babbling about?”

The grey-eyed boy now took Yosuke’s face with both of his hands, forcing the latter to look directly at him. “I feel the same way too, partner. Would a goodbye kiss make you feel better?”

“A goodbye–!? What are you saying?! We’re right outside your house!” Yosuke was quick to retort, now attempting to pull his face away from Yu’s touch but the other wasn’t letting him. “C’mon, just one peck.”

“Dude, a peck for you is a ten-minute long french kiss! Ain’t no way I’m falling for that ever again!”

“It’s dark and no one else is here.”

“That’s what you say every time!”

“Then, stay the night. We’ll have all the time and privacy we want.”

Yosuke became even more flustered as he felt like his own heart was going to jump out of his throat, his vision swirling hazy with his mind malfunctioning. “W-W-What!? N-no!”

“Then let me kiss you right here and right now.” Yu was smirking amusingly, clearly enjoying himself at teasing Yosuke like this. Yosuke scowled to show how displeased and opposed he was with the idea, his jaw tightened and his brows shaking.

But it wasn't like Yosuke had the power to actually oppose Yu.

So instead, he just released a sound of annoyance before closing his eyes shut. He knew Yu would never let up the opportunity to kiss him whenever he could. The boy was right, the next thing he felt was Yu’s cold and slightly trembling lips against his.

They were kissing, and Yosuke felt himself melt again directly against Yu’s warmth like he always did. Yu slowly moved his lips against Yosuke that made the latter sigh in pleasure as his legs felt like jelly.

Just like Yu said, he only wanted a simple peck so their kiss was short. He slowly pulled away and smiled to see Yosuke’s blush even reaching the tip of his nose. That probably wasn’t from the intimate moment they shared but because of the cold night.

Yu smiled happily before rubbing the tip of his nose against Yosuke's, which elicited an even cuter expression from the latter. He pulled him into a very tight hug, Yu taking a deep breath as he absorbed his partner’s scent that never failed to make him feel at ease.

“I’ll see you tomorrow, partner.” Yu said as he pulled away, the loving smile on his lips still evident on his face. Yosuke could still feel how hot his face was so he just replied with a nod, too embarrassed to hold eye contact with his boyfriend.

“What are you two still doing outside?” A familiar voice suddenly boomed nearby and when the both of them turned to the location of the sound, they found Dojima standing only a few meters away from them with a confused look on his face.

Yosuke felt like his fight or flight response activated as his pulse quickened, feeling how anxiety was coursing through his veins. As expected, Yu seemed unfazed as he greeted his uncle like usual. “We were hanging out just now. Yosuke is just walking me home.”

“G-Good evening, Dojima-san. I was just about to go h-home.” Yosuke tried his best not to make his voice shake or his tone tremble from how really nervous he felt. He even attempted to flash a fake smile and he swore Dojima was looking at him funny. Luckily for them, the older man didn’t say anything about it.

“I see. Thanks for accompanying my nephew all the way home. But I don’t really see the need for you to do that.” Dojima simply stated, an unreadable expression was seen across his face. “I mean, he’s almost a six foot tall guy.”

Yu just chuckled, “I get it, uncle. Plus, Yosuke really needed to go. Right?”

“Huh?” Yosuke looked at Yu all confused but he soon realized that he had to play along from when the latter widened his eyes at him in warning. “O-Oh yeah! I really have to go now, Dojima-san. Goodnight! I’ll see you tomorrow, Yu!”

And with that, Yosuke took that opportunity to flee the scene and let his wobbling legs take him as far as it could. He could still feel his heart thump against his skin, the feeling of dread still hadn’t left his system yet exactly. But he wasn’t that far from the house yet so he heard fragments of the conversation Yu and Dojima were having just now.

“Were you with a girl with that Hanamura kid just now?”

“Huh? A girl? No, I was just with Yosuke. Why?”

“Nothing. I thought I saw you–” Dojima sighed. “Nevermind. Let’s just get inside. I’ll make some coffee.”

Yosuke felt his entire body tensed up once again. Did he hear that right? Was Dojima going to say he almost saw them kissing? The brunette couldn’t help but stop on his tracks as he crouched on the ground, his breathing was too fast for his liking as he hugged his own arms around himself hoping that it would help in calming him down.

The boy put his head in his hands, internally screaming and panicking. The nervousness he felt all over was making him think like his entire heart would jump out of his chest. That was it. Yosuke finally decided that Yu’s non-existent self-restraint must be disciplined.
