Work Text:
Sometimes things happen for the strangest reasons. To Seungcheol that was how he saw his relationship with Wonwoo. Wonwoo is his husband who he met through his family. They had been married for the past one year, although sometimes it still felt surreal for him.
Fate was the strangest thing for Seungcheol. It had its own rules, once you thought you had understood it, it would change its course. Fate had brought them together unexpectedly. The fated mate wasn't a lost fairytale, however, it rarely happens these day. Yet, he and Wonwoo were one of the pairs that managed to come together.
Wonwoo was the director of the company he used to work for. They first were introduced to each other when Seungcheol was still a manager. Throughout the 3 years working in the company, they never crossed path for some reason.
Seungcheol went from an excellent worker to a diligent househusband just after marrying Wonwoo. He knew a lot of people disagreed with his decision, some even accused Wonwoo of forcing him to quit. However, it was completely his choice to stop working and focused on being a good mate for his alpha.
Deep down it was something he had always wanted — giving his everything to care for his family and watching them grow with it. Gratefully, Wonwoo had given him freedom to choose his own path and was always supportive of him. Staying at home, managing their household was his responsibility he took with pride.
One of his favourite moments was when he greeted Wonwoo from work. Once Seungcheol heard the rumble of a car engine entering the driveway, he was grinning joyfully as he leaped to the front door. Seungcheol excitedly opened the door to greet his husband.
Stepping aside he took Wonwoo's briefcase and his coat just as Wonwoo entered the house. He backed up further into the entryway, watching his alpha take off his shoes before turning toward him. Wonwoo slumped against him, Seungcheol almost stumbled with the sudden weight on him but he steadied himself.
“You have worked hard,” he murmured, circling his arms and patting his back. He released his scents to soothe his husband. He might never admit it but he did get satisfaction when Wonwoo melted against his body just by the scent, nuzzling his nose closer to the scent gland like he couldn't get enough of it.
Their routine was almost the same every night, spending time together while eating dinner he had prepared. Then snuggling together watching dramas in the living room. It was more of Seungcheol watching his favourite show and Wonwoo just wanted to spend the night with his mate. Sometimes Seungcheol turned the night into a rant session about his day. Hands flippant as he was immersed in telling his stories. Seungcheol always he caught himself too engrossed in it, he had to hold back.
Nonetheless, Wonwoo never stopped him, eyes crinkled as he told Seungcheol to continue. Seungcheol blushed, averting his eyes, still not used to Wonwoo's gentle look for him. Seeing that, Wonwoo teased him further until he whined, squirming in embarrassment.
He had heard how Wonwoo's gentleness reserved only for him. Wonwoo's friend had joked that Wonwoo became a new entity when Seungcheol was around. Although he never worked with the alpha himself, he had heard his reputation before they got together.
Wonwoo was very stoic, almost expressionless. His blunt words made him more cold than he actually was, making him scarier at work. Wonwoo always said that it was just his personality and because he took his work very seriously.
Yet Wonwoo turned brighter to Seungcheol. The way his eyes sparkled when Seungcheol was in his line of sight. His face softened, melting Seungcheol's heart all the same. Even when they argued, he never raised his voice at him.
It was the bond, he thought. They are a fated mate, a soulmate. A pair made for each other. A pair which the universe would bring together even if they lived on each end of the world. A string pulling each other closer day by day. Everything that happened between them was only to bring them together eventually.
Seungcheol had believed that Wonwoo cared for him. He had found solace in him like no others. The bond brought them together. However, he would let himself getting pull without resistance. Despite never imagined himself in love, so profound and pulsating in his heart. Wonwoo was an exception.
Both of them were two sides of a coin. Too workaholic and work-driven. Seungcheol only knew work and all his focus was poured on his work. After graduate, he accepted a position in smaller company. Since then, he had spilled his blood, sweat and tears for his work. It worried his parents, particularly his alpha dad.
For years his parent had been pestering him to find a partner. In the end his parent had set him up on a blind date. He reluctantly relented and went to the meeting, only to find his mate sitting across him. Seungcheol had heard stories about it. The electrifying jolt one felt when they met their mate. He had fantasised it, being a hopeless romantic himself. But nothing could prepare him when he saw Wonwoo.
It drew Seungcheol in, luring him into an abyss that of Wonwoo. That fateful night turned into countless sleepless nights trying to make sense of it. Slowly but inevitable, it had consumed him whole. Both of their parents were ecstatic when they learned about it; more than themselves honestly.
Everything after that happened so fast, he couldn't remember it all. It was fleeting but the feeling was vivid in his memory. The constant urge to see the alpha, to touch him, to be near him. His omega could sense Wonwoo's emotion and it would affect him greatly. The bond was too strong that when his parents started arranging their marriage he agreed instantly.
His parents went as far as planning the wedding for them. Wonwoo had proposed to him just a month after meeting him. The joy on his parent's face was enough for him to agree to marry Wonwoo. With the connection their parents got, they tied the knot just 3 months after that.
Loving Wonwoo though came slowly, a step by step he was still learning. Seungcheol cherished every little knowledge he learned about his husband. It gave him joy to see every part of his husband. Learning about his alpha was learning about himself. Sometimes he couldn't believe he could care about someone this much.
He still couldn't pinpoint the day he fell for his husband. Just one day he woke up in Wonwoo's arm. Through the night they had moved and ended up with him laid on Wonwoo's chest. Wonwoo's arms around him kept him close. This was something he had noticed, even in sleep they found each other.
He glimpsed at his mate, deep in slumber. He reached out, carefully brushing Wonwoo's bang away from his face. Capturing every little twitch of Wonwoo's face as he slept. His breathing synchronised with the alpha as he felt the movement of his chest. He knew it then.

Seungcheol smiled as he woke up from the sweet dream he had. He turned to his side and saw Wonwoo came out of their closet, all dressed up ready to go to work. A soft smile stretched on his lips as their eyes met. Wonwoo walked to the bed, ruffled his hair before leaning down to kiss his forehead.
“Morning, my omega. Stay in bed and rest, okay? I already cooked the breakfast for you,” he whispered, hand trailed down to his neck. His fingers outlining the marks he made from last night. Seungcheol brought his hand closer, kissing the knuckles, “thank you, I wished you didn't have to go to work”
Wonwoo chuckled softly before leaned down to peck his lips. Wonwoo cupped his cheek, thumb softly caressing his cheek trying to console him, “I wished I didnt have to go to work but I already be gone for a week and Jihoon gonna be mad if I missed another day,”
Seungcheol sighed and pouted just to stall his husband. He knew it working when the alpha's hand moved to his chin, finger trailed the corner of his lip. Eventhough he had anticipated it, he gasped when Wonwoo captured his lips again, devoured it into a long kiss.
“I'm sorry, I wouldn't be gone for long and will be back straight to you,” Wonwoo breathed out against his lip before pecking him again. Seungcheol nodded, letting go of Wonwoo like the good mate that he is.
Seungcheol watched Wonwoo pick up his things before he went to work. Seungcheol stayed in bed for a few more hours before he finally went down. Wonwoo had made him a simple breakfast, endearingly. Seungcheol giggled when he saw the sticky notes his mate left for him.
“cute, I love him,” he chuckled only to halt motionless when he realised what he just said. Though his smile widened a second later, feeling the love coursing through his body. I got easier to admit now, loving Wonwoo, falling for him every day.
Seungcheol had always been one to wear his feeling on his sleeves. Though he hadn't yet confessed, he had a feeling Wonwoo already knew. The fact that he made it his mission to make him fall deeper every day. With every little action, looks and even his smile. Earning Wonwoo's love was still something he was trying to do. They were still awkward sometimes, made aware of their differences, Seungcheol knew he had a lot to learn about Wonwoo.
Seungcheol spent the day blissfully. His body was still aching yet he was energised enough to do chores around the house. Tidied up his bed, putting away his nest and changing the sheet. By 6pm, he had already cleaned the whole house and cooked dinner. And like Wonwoo's promise, he went home immediately after work.
***
More than a year after their marriage, Seungcheol had shown him all sides of himself. Seungcheol let his soft side show more as he got comfortable with Wonwoo. While Seungcheol loved taking care of Wonwoo, he also loved being taken care of.
When Seungcheol clung to him, he only held him tighter. Wonwoo wasn't the type to do physical touch, though he let Seungcheol lean on him. They always stayed close to each other. Seungcheol could recognise Wonwoo just from his body heat.
He still got teased by his friends about how much he had fallen in love with Wonwoo. Jeonghan especially would scowl at him everytime he acted lovey dovey with Wonwoo in front of him. He would fire back, saying it was a payback after all those years he had suffered witnessing his friend being disgustingly in love with his mate, Mingyu.
“You are worst, you only know him less than a year,” he exclaimed.
“I would know him longer if you had introduced us before,” he teased.
“Hey, you can't hold that against me, how would I know your mate was Mingyu's friend. He never around when we hang out,” Jeonghan whined, he would looked angry with the frown if not for his pout.
Wonwoo is one of Mingyu's friends. Fate was playing with him, when they all learned this. Jeonghan and Mingyu were college sweethearts. They had been together throughout their college years and Seungcheol, who was Jeonghan's childhood friend, had seen them together. Nonetheless, Seungcheol never met Wonwoo. Not even on Jeonghan’s wedding day.
Seungcheol responded with a cackle, recovering his mouth when Jeonghan’s frown deepened at him, “I was just teasing,” he laughed, “anyway thanks for coming, I was bored,”
“Where is your mate? I know you got a pass to visit Wonwoo in his office because everyone like you,”
“I don't want to bother him, he had a lot of work,” he explained
“Don't lie, Seungcheol. I know you, you would be at his office by now even if Wonwoo had mountains of work. And I know Wonwoo would mind that at all. What happened? Did you guys fight?” Jeonghan accused.
Seungcheol sighed, he knew Jeonghan would see through him. There's no point in lying, Jeonghan knew him like the back of his hand. If Jeonghan was an alpha, he would bet that he was his mate.
He was grateful how the universe brought them together. Having Jeonghan on his side for years, he was his support system before Wonwoo. Jeonghan, though, still had a distaste toward Wonwoo. His friend had known Wonwoo and his reputation.
Wonwoo wasn't a bad guy per se, though he did play around. He had few partners before, never too serious. He only had one serious relationship before. Wonwoo never sought a serious relationship, only finding partners to fill his time. Seungcheol didn't mind, and known it as Wonwoo confessed to him a day after they met.
Wonwoo didn't go to meet Seungcheol to find a mate. He wasn't looking, yet Seungcheol's presence called on him. That day Wonwoo had told him he wanted to court him sincerely and Seungcheol believed him. Though Jeonghan might need more convincing. He couldn't fault him, Jeonghan had always been protective of him. Some might accuse him of being possessive, being in love with Seungcheol. He had heard rumors of him using Mingyu to cover up his feelings toward Seungcheol.
Seungcheol would laugh at the ridiculousness of it. Only he knew Jeonghan’s true intention. He had seen him hurt once, and swore to never let it happen again. So when he found out about Wonwoo, he was the first to object. Nevertheless, he relented but that didn't mean he will stop disliking Wonwoo.
“Nothing happened. I just…” he sighed before hesitantly muttering, “You might hate him but he is the father of my child,”
“He what now!?” Jeonghan shouted, making Seungcheol flinch. For a second Seungcheol took pity for dropping such a big surprise on him like that. He could have worded it better. He sighed, turning away from him.
“I'm pregnant with his child,” he repeated nonchalantly, subconsciously his hand caressed his flat belly.
“Since when? How did it happened? You never said about having a child” Seungcheol would have laughed at how shocked Jeonghan looked at him if the situation was different.
“My last heat I guess, also we never talked about having a child, that's why” he replied meekly.
“Cheol-ah,” Seungcheol winced at the change of tone, he hated it when people pitied him. He almost cursed when he glanced at Jeonghan, only to see the way his eyes drooped, face softened. He hated it when Jeonghan pitied him.
“I'm fine, it just too sudden. I never expected this. I dont know if we are ready for this,” he whispered, thoughts that had been troubling him since he knew his pregnancy.
Seungcheol had noticed his mood changed. Always wanting to surround himself in Wonwoo's scent. When the alpha was home. he had became clingier, Wonwoo pointed it out once teasingly. But later he realised it was one of sign of pregnancy.
It took a while before he decided to take the test. His hand trembled as he waited for the result. He took few tests just to be sure. He cried when he saw the result, even after the third test he still couldn't believe he was pregnant. He was too shocked to be happy about it, he didn't know what to do.
Since then his mind plunged with all kind of thoughts. Wonwoo just took a few projects, and he would be busier now. Having a child now didn't seem like good timing, also he was still unsure if he was ready. He knew nothing, never one to explore this topic. None of his friends were ever pregnant, so it's not like he could ask advice from them.
“You have to tell him. Never say this is from me, but he will listen to you,” Jeonghan said, concern painted across his face. Seungcheol was thankful for Jeonghan, grabbing his hand, squeezing his hand. He was relieved to let it out to someone, the doubt was eating at him.
“I will, don't worry. I couldn't hide it anyway, soon my scent will change and he will definitely notice it,” he hoped Wonwoo would notice it.
***
Wonwoo didn't notice. It has been a week since he smelled a different scent on himself. His scent had become sweeter mixing with the milky scent. His fingers trailed over his scent gland. He wondered if the scent wasn't strong enough for Wonwoo.
The phone rang, interrupted his thoughts. He scurried to answer the phone. When he saw his mate's name on it, he cleared his throat before picking up the call.
“Seungcheol,” his heart softened at the sound of Wonwoo's voice. His lips twitched into a small smile before he answered him.
“Yes, wonwoo. Why are you calling?”
“I'm sorry but I think I might come home late again today,” Wonwoo breathed out in one breath. Seungcheol was more surprised that he could talk that fast then the fact he would be home late tonight. Wonwoo added before Seungcheol could responded, “You don't have to wait for me,”
“I wait… I'll wait for you,” he responded hastily. His smile dropped, his other hand nervously played the hem of his clothes.
“No, Seungcheol I could be really late,” Wonwoo objected. Seungcheol could feel his heart breaking but he persisted.
“No, it's okay. I'm fine, I can wait for you,” I will wait for you forever .
Seungcheol hand dropped with the call disconnected. The sizzling of whatever he was cooking before the call didn't look appetising anymore. The kitchen was dimmed, he looked out the window. It's already dusk. The sun was at the horizon coloured the sky in a dark hue of orange.
He took a deep breath and straightened his back. Holding the spatula as he focused on his cooking again. His phone laid face down on the counter. Forgotten, left untouched even after a series of beeps of notifications. Wonwoo's texts left unread.
He set the table like how he would for every dinner. Took out two sets of dinnerware even if he knew one would never be used. He turned on the television, let whatever was playing, filled the house with noise. He let the noise be the facade of the night while he ate alone again.
Seungcheol watched the television after dinner. He kept his eyes on the show however his mind was elsewhere. Throughout the night he couldn't help glancing at the door. He caressed his belly, his heart was heavy with a mix of emotions.
Despite his determination to wait for his husband, he didn't realise when he fell asleep. He stirred awake when his back touched the soft of his bed. Wonwoo came home and carried him to their bedroom.
Wonwoo was about to pull away when he anxiously grabbed his hand. “Don't go,”
Wonwoo squeezed his hand before letting go of his hand. Seungcheol dared himself to look up at him. The facade he built on began to crumble when Wonwoo pushed his fringe, softly carding his fingers through his hair.
“Please,” he pleaded, let the vulnerability seeped through his voice a little.
Wonwoo leaned down to kiss his forehead tenderly. Seungcheol closed his eyes, basked in the feel of Wonwoo's lips on his skin. The warmth that spread through it. The silence rang in his ears, deafening. Yet Wonwoo had a hold of him as he whispered, “I'm not going anywhere, my omega,”
He leaned on Wonwoo's hand as it cupped his face. Finally he opened his eyes again. Wonwoo was so close, his eyes almost crossed together just to stare at the alpha. His sweet pheromones heightened, he couldn't help looked at Wonwoo's lips before glanced back to his eyes.
They were so close, he only need to leaned forward slightly just for their lips to touch. Wonwoo must have noticed it as the alpha gleaned smugly at him. Despite the blush that had coloured his face he kept his eye contact with Wonwoo.
They continued to stare into each other eyes until Wonwoo leaned down, taking his lips. Seungcheol yelped, kissing him back, slow and soft. Wonwoo pulled away from the kiss only to land a peck on his lips again. Then he mumbled, “Let me took a shower first, then I'll join you,”
Seungcheol watched Wonwoo walked away, taking off his suit before going to the bathroom. When the sound of shower turned on, he let his eyes closed again. He yawned, suddenly the sleep caught on him again.
He didn't know how long it was. He felt the mattress dipped under Wonwoo's weight as he climbed the bed. He purred in his sleep as Wonwoo slithered his arm around his body. He could feel Wonwoo lapped on his mark yet the slumber was heavy on his eyes to do anything.
***
Seungcheol did notice Wonwoo tried to be home more often after that night. At first he thought the project wasn't time consuming like his other projects before. However, he did notice the phone call he rejected when he's home.
It has been a month since then, Wonwoo was in his study answering a call. Seungcheol holding a tray of black tea with some fruits outside of his office. He knocked on the door first before turning the knob.
“I will call you back,” Wonwoo muttered hurriedly when he realised Seungcheol. His grip tightened as he brazed his steps further into the study. He didn't know why his heart hurt the way it did seeing Wonwoo like that. Somehow he blamed himself for disturbing Wonwoo's work.
Nonetheless, he forced a smiled as he went to Wonwoo’s side, putting the tray on the desk. The slight shake of his hands fortunately went unnoticed by the alpha as he hid it behind him.
“You are my saviour,” Wonwoo sighed, snaking his arm around his waist pulling him closer. His breath hitched when Wonwoo nuzzled his face on his stomach. His body tensed up at the little touch for a second before he relaxed again.
He brought his hand to card through Wonwoo's hair. The dark ebony hair created a contrast against his pale skin. He liked the way it felt. The way the strands smoothly slide through his finger. The thickness of it. The soft feeling against his skin. He is beautiful, that happiness thrumming inside of him just by looking at his face.
“You smelled nice,” Wonwoo breathed, he continued, “Thank you the tea,”
“You've worked hard,” he forced a smile to reach his eyes when Wonwoo pulled away a little.
“I'm almost done with work, will you sit with me while I finished this report,”
Without missing a beat he responded, “Ofcourse, I would love to,”
They had moved to the sofa, Wonwoo was typing furiously on his laptop to finish whatever report he was supposed to. Meanwhile Seungcheol curled near him, leaned his head on his shoulder. On his hand was one of the books from Wonwoo's collection he had picked. From time to time, Wonwoo sipped on the tea or munching the cut of fruit he brought. He couldn't help but to have his heart swell with happiness at it.
They were fine. Everything was fine. Seungcheol could hold on this moment and be content.
***
Seungcheol went up to his bedroom after he was done with breakfast. He saw Wonwoo in front mirror tying his necktie. Seungcheol looked up to see the alpha was already staring at him through the mirror. His scent spiked as he moved toward his husband.
Though just as he stood behind Wonwoo, he felt his stomach starting twisted inside of him. His mouth taste bitter as his stomach content refluxed into his esophagus. Seungcheol had never ran fast in his life as today. Before he knew it he already kneeling beside the toilet bowl wrenching.
Wonwoo worriedly had followed him into the bathroom. When he near him, Seungcheol got a whiff of his cologne and got the urge again.
“Go away!” Seungcheol yelled when Wonwoo almost kneeled beside him.
Wonwoo stood frozen in the middle of the bathroom. Confused at getting yelled at. Seungcheol pitied his husband but unfortunately didn't have time to explain as he vomited again.
“Your perfume. It made me sick,” he breathed out, no longer able to tolerate it. The small bathroom made the smell more intense and his stomach started to churn again.
“Oh…” Wonwoo scurried out of the bathroom as it dawned on him. Seungcheol sighed in relief as the scents faded away. He got up and washed his face, trying to steady himself.
When he went out of the bathroom, the room was brighter. Wonwoo had opened the window, the morning breeze blowing the fresh clean air into their room replacing any remnants of his perfume. His husband had taken off his blazer, standing further towards the end of the room, opposite him.
He couldn't help but to smile fondly at Wonwoo. He chuckled at the bunched wipe tissue on the vanity beside Wonwoo. When he strode toward Wonwoo, his husband was quick to stop.
“Wait, are you okay? I probably should change my clothes,” Wonwoo said nervously. He never had his morning sickness when Wonwoo was around. He definitely never had any reaction toward Wonwoo’s perfumes.
“It's okay, it's gone now,” he smiled reassuringly at Wonwoo. He nodded as he moved closer to his husband.
“I'm fine now,” he continued, Wonwoo's brows furrowed together, concerned. When Seungcheol just stood there no more feeling nauseated, his husband finally stepped forward.
“Are you sure you are okay?” Wonwoo inquired, still voice laced with concern. Seungcheol softened at worried look Wonwoo had on his face.
He tried to soothe him, brought Wonwoo's hand to his face. He leaned into the touch as Wonwoo caressed his cheekbone. Stepping closer, he could smell Wonwoo's pheromones. Wonwoo boldly cupping his face, shoulder dropped as he checked Seungcheol out. Seungcheol could see his emotions coursing through his face. When concern morphed into relief, like he could tell when the worry left his body.
“Don't worry, I'm fine,” he whispered again.
“How can I not, you never had a reaction like that,” Seungcheol looked up at his husband. His eyes look down at him, never leaving his sight. In that moment, he inhaled a deep breath, a courage built up in him as he reached for Wonwoo's hand and brought it to his lower belly.
“Someone else seemed to not like it,” he mumbled, voice so quiet only for Wonwoo to hear. He placed his hand on top of Wonwoo's. He waited for Wonwoo to say something.
“Since when you having this symptoms?” He was waiting for the shock to come at Wonwoo. Alas he was the one taken back at Wonwoo's reaction, or the lack of it.
“Wait, why aren't you surprised?” Seungcheol staggered backward, perplexed at Wonwoo's calmness.
“I knew it already.” Wonwoo said, as a matter of fact. Seungcheol, however suprised at the turn of event.
“Why you never said anything?” He was confused. His frown deepened when Wonwoo grinned wider at him.
“I smelled you once and I just knew. Alpha instinct, I dont know,” he shrugged, “You seemed lost in thought everytime I mentioned your scents or heat. You didn't seem ready. I was only waiting for you to say something.” Wonwoo explained, and Seungcheol could feel the joy seeping deep into his bones.
“Oh no, please don't cry,” Wonwoo muttered, pulling him into his arm. Seungcheol let himself melted in his embrace, blinking his tears away. He relaxed a little as he inhaled Wonwoo's pheromones.
“I'm not ready,” he whispered, “We never talk about a child, I messed up my birth control pill now we ended up like this. I'm scared, I don't know what to do. You gonna be busy with all your projects, and I don't want to bother you,”
“shhh, don't say that, I will always make time for you, anytime.” Wonwoo rubbed his back gently, comforting him while embracing him tight.
“Don't blame yourself. I knotted you so it was my responsible too. It's okay, we're going to figure it out together. One step at a time,” Wonwoo said to his ears, he felt the kisses he left on top of his head.
Half of his doubts lifted off his shoulder, making him lighter. The emotions surging inside of him became overwhelming. He was trembling like a leaf as he cried on Wonwoo's shoulder. Wonwoo, stood there holding him, whispering sweet assurance until he stopped crying.
They stayed like that for a few more minutes, drained from all the feelings they felt yet an excitement had sparked a little. Wonwoo pulled away first, wiped Seungcheol's face and led him downstairs.
They ate their breakfast together, and Seungcheol had to reheat everything. He hummed alongside the chirping of the birds. The sunlight peeking through the curtains showered the house with warmth as if the same warmth seeped into him, spreading through his body.
His heart blossomed the love for his husband tenfold when the alpha embraced after they cleaned up the kitchen. Seungcheol pulled away a little to look at Wonwoo.
“Shouldn't you go to work, Wonwoo?” He cheekily giggled but couldn’t help staring at his husband. He never would be tired of being mesmerized by his beauty. The way his glasses crooked on the bridge of his nose.
“I never want to leave you,” Wonwoo mumbled against his skin as he kissed his forehead. Wonwoo held his chin in between his thumb and fingers, angled his face to make eye contact with him. They stared into each other's eyes before Wonwoo leaned down to kiss his lip.
Wonwoo called the office to inform his absence even before Seungcheol could protest. They settled at his study, for Wonwoo to work remotely. With Seungcheol by his side lazily curled on the couch. They spent the morning quietly. Only the sound of Wonwoo's fast typing and the flipped pages reverberating across the room.
Though the sweet moment ended sooner than they would want when Seungcheol's stomach acted up again suddenly. He had been in the bathroom for a solid 10 minutes. Wonwoo stayed beside him, rubbing his back and trying to relieve his pain. He whined sickly at his husband as he leaned to his side. Wonwoo helped him wash his face, rinsing his mouth off of the bitterness.
Wonwoo sat him down against the headboard, and went down to get him a cup of water. He sighed after taking a few sips of the water before putting it down.
“Let's go to the hospital.” Wonwoo suggested. He hadn't waited for his response and Seungcheol was too tired to say anything as Wonwoo collected his wallet and picked him up.
His head lulled to the side weakly as Wonwoo drove to the hospital. Thankfully the car ride didn't made him sick, though he couldn't feel anything, his head was too dizzy.
His senses came back to him when felt chill from cold gel and scan probe. His eyes began to focus again, squeezing Wonwoo's hand that was holding his. He realised he was in a treatment room as the doctor scanned his belly. Everything was fuzzy until he heard the thubbing sound.
“Dub,dap. Dub, dap,”
Immediately he recognised his baby heartbeats, frantically looking at the monitor. Despite not knowing what to look for, his heart swelled to the sound of his unborn baby's heartbeat. His heart fastened and synced with its beats. The same excitement sparked in him, he had one thought, “I want to protect and love this baby with my whole heart,”
When their eyes met, Seungcheol let out the tears he had been holding. Nothing else mattered at the moment, if he was not too weak, he would've jumped into Wonwoo's arm in an instant. Instead he squeezed Wonwoo's hand, he knew then this baby would be loved so much by both of them.
Seungcheol couldn't help staring at the scan film of his baby, holding onto it the whole car ride. He still couldn't believe he was growing a baby in his belly. He was just 10 weeks pregnant but he couldn't wait for the day he finally meet his baby.
From time to time, his hand went down and rubbed his flat belly. The whole car was scented with his sweetest pheromones without him noticing. His elation had bursted out of him, making Wonwoo excited. Seungcheol, who was focused on the picture of their baby, missed out the sparkling eyes Wonwoo had when he glanced at his mate.
“We can ordered food tonight,” Wonwoo suggested as they entered their house.
“How scandalous, not in my household, Jeon Wonwoo.” he objected, despite feeling tired.
Wonwoo couldn't argue before he was banished from the kitchen so he decided to wash up while the omega cooked. Seungcheol began taking out the ingredients from the refrigerator. Cleaning the counter and sink a little before he began his cooking.
Seungcheol hummed a melody stuck in his head, swaying a little as he cooked their dinner. Such a mundane daily activity but the atmosphere was peaceful. Wonwoo, already showered and changed into his pajamas, went straight to the kitchen.
He leaned on the door frame, admiring his omega. Seungcheol in his own world, preparing their dinner. Although the omega’s back on him, he could see the satisfaction as he cooked.
He looked beautiful, his sweet scents implified more since he was pregnant. Wonwoo didn't think he could get enough of it. His happiness radiated so brightly that it affected his surroundings. Many days he felt exhausted from the work but a look on his husband could vanish all of his fatigue.
Like now, the same emotion stirred inside of him. It coursed through his body until it overflowed. He wanted to let him know, to shout it all out so Wonwoo confessed softly. His voice was deep and low as he said it, “I love you,”
“Huh? What?” Seungcheol froze, spatula halted in the air. He was stunned and turned so fast, Wonwoo was worried it would make him dizzy, “What did you just say?” He repeated it again.
“I love you,” Wonwoo repeated, a little louder. Wonwoo crossed the threshold into the kitchen. He felt he was too far away from his omega. He wanted to pull him close, cradled him with the utmost love he could muster out of his heart.
“I… I…,” Seungcheol staggered, eyes widened. The vegetable sizzled behind him was the only sound for a while, “Wait, a second,”
Seungcheol turned around to put off the stove then turned back up to Wonwoo. Wonwoo chuckled at that, endeared by every Seungcheol.
Wonwoo moved closer, reached up and cupping his cheeks, he proclaimed, “I love you, Seungcheol. From the day I met you in that tiny restaurant. Everyday you make me fall for you and I love every second of it. I love every part of you. Everything that you do you pulled me in. Just watching you doing simple chore like cooking our dinner, I can't contain myself, I feel it so much in my heart,”
Seungcheol smiled tenderly, his eyes brimming with tears, full of joys, he surged into Wonwoo's arm unable to do anything as he felt his own emotions combusting inside of him.
“I have been waiting for you to say for so long,” he whispered, muffled as he hid his face in Wonwoo's chest.
“I'm sorry for taking too long to say it. I was never good with words but I will say it again and again till you grow tired of it,” he sighed, voice strained as he let himself out, “I love you. So much it consumed me, I'm yours forever,”
“Also, thank you for giving me the best gift ever,” Wonwoo muffled against his hair, he continued, his hand reached out to Seungcheol’s belly. “I will always love you and this baby forever.”
Seungcheol smiled against Wonwoo's shoulder. He was happy, and safe in his alpha's arm. Surrounded by their mixed scents interlacing each other creating a peaceful symphony.
“I love you too, alpha,” he whispered back after a long silence embracing them. Dinner long forgotten, he only needs Wonwoo, his alpha and he will be content.

Days passed, they finally talked about building a family together, of having a child together. It was overwhelming, especially to Seungcheol. He had made a mistake by going through a rabbit hole of raising a kid on the Internet. Panicked with how little knowledge he had about pregnancy and baby. Thankfully, Wonwoo was with him, able to calm him down.
Despite the joy of having his own child, Seungcheol was scared. He had his doubts and insecurities that he couldn't help succumbed to. Wonwoo patiently reassured him everytime he had a meltdown.
Surprisingly, Wonwoo did well in taking care of him and his need. He always on the call, ready to bolt home if Seungcheol needed him. He got rid of anything that could trigger Seungcheol's morning sickness, and always available to accompany him to the doctor's appointment.
Wonwoo came out of the bathroom, ready to go to another appointment today. Then, he saw Seungcheol standing by the bed, cleaning up the room. His stomach has been showing a little. He was wearing an oversized sweater, almost swallowed in it.
It was his, a proud smile etched on his face as he recognised it. Seungcheol had said none of his clothes was big enough for him to hide his bump. Secretly, he knew Seungcheol wore his clothes to calm himself with the scent.
“You look so cute in this sweater, look so small,” Wonwoo mumbled against his neck. His hands circled his waist, cradling his bump.
Seungcheol hissed as Wonwoo's cold hands slipped under the sweater. He teased, “You just like it because I was wearing your clothes,”
“That's true,” Wonwoo chuckled, hands caressing the small baby bump. Seungcheol put his hands on top of Wonwoo, scents spiked sweeter.
“Your tummy so soft, must be very conducive for our baby,” Seungcheol slapped his hand jokingly, taking his hands off his stomach.
“Stop talking nonsense, let's go, the receptionist gonna scold us again if we're late,”
“It's not everyday I got to spend my morning like this with you, also I only got half day with you today,” Seungcheol giggled at the whining as he turned around to face Wonwoo.
“Well, you are having the last meeting for the projects you have been working on for so long, so that we can spend the rest of the week together. I'm sure you could be patient till then,” he winked, rounding his arms around Wonwoo's neck.
Wonwoo's face darkened, leaned down until their lips almost brushed, “You know I could never hold myself with you. Once I'm done, we are never living the bed,”
Seungcheol gasped when Wonwoo snaked his hand around his waist, pulling him closer. Wonwoo took the opportunity to kiss him which immediately turned more heated once he pushed his tongue into Seungcheol's mouth.
They pulled away after a minute, Seungcheol giggled softly, half lidded eyes stared back at him. Seungcheol half jokingly hit his chest, “Stop pretending to be possessive alpha, that's weird,”
Wonwoo cackled, throwing his head back. He mirrored Seungcheol's wide grin as he looked back at him, pulling him out of the room, “Let's go,”
Seungcheol chuckled, intertwining their hands. They are going for his checkup, this time they finally would know the gender. His smile widened, his instinct was strong of it being a son. Wonwoo was gonna get another surprise, he thought.
Either way, he knew it didn't matter. As long as he had Wonwoo. Fate had helped them find each other. Finding him was like coming home. Wonwoo is home.
