“Mommy my tummy hurts“.
Olivia wakes up to these words,she quickly opens her eyes and sees you standing infront of her bed,holding onto your favourite stuffed animal,a little kitten,tears running down your face.
She sits up and pulls you onto the bed with her where she gives you a hug immediately.
“Your tummy hurts?“
You nod.
“Yeah“,you say pityfully.
“Oh honey it’ll be okay“,she says soothingly to try and calm you down and starts massaging your stomach.
She takes the stuffed animal and uses its paws to wipe away your tears and lets it stroke your stomach,which made you feel better immediately.
You were still very tired so you lean against Olivia‘s chest and close your eyes.
With every minute your stomach began to hurt less and less and soon enough you fall asleep again.
Olivia looked down at you in her arms and saw you fast asleep.
She quickly put the kitten down in your arms so that you were cuddling it and sighed.
Usually she’d take the day off to stay at home and take care of you but they had been working on a very important case that also included her having to be be present at court today,she couldn’t miss this,they had fought so hard to get this case to go to trial,so she gently got up and placed a pillow under your head and walked over to the living room with her phone in her hand,as to not wake you up.
She tried calling one babysitter after the other but no one was available.
“Well I guess I gotta take her with me then“,she mumbled.
An hour had gone by,it was now 8am,Olivia had quickly called the school to let them know that you wouldn’t be coming in today as you were sick and then she quickly packed you a bag with some toys,snacks and a water bottle before she went back over into her bedroom,where you were still asleep.
She walked over to the bed and placed a hand gently on your head.
She frowned,you were really warm,hopefully you weren’t developing a fever.
“Y/n honey,wake up“,she softly said,stroking your hair.
You open your eyes,still being very tired,to see Olivia smiling at you.
“I‘m taking you to work with me today okay? You’re way too sick to go to school and no babysitter is available“,she says.
You nod,being a little bit excited because you’ve always wanted to see what it was like where your mom worked.
You had met Amanda and Fin multiple times before when Olivia had invited them over after work to just hang out and talk,so you knew that they’d be there too and you wanted to see what they did at work all day.
“Alright“,Olivia said.
“Can we get you dressed and ready then,because we have to leave soon?“
You nod again but you didn’t want to get up so you just hold out your arms to Olivia.
She giggled a little but picked you up and got you dressed and ready for the day.
After about 20 minutes you were both ready and started driving to the Precinct,which you arrived at shortly after.
You let Olivia pick you up out of the car and carry you because you didn’t feel like walking.
You wrapped your arms around her neck so she wouldn’t put you down and just looked around as you walked through the door.
You had never been here before so you didn’t know what to expect.
When you guys walked in you saw Amanda and Fin talking to eachother,looking at you with surprise.
Olivia stopped right next to them.
“Hey guys,I brought y/n with me today,she’s sick and no one was available to babysit“.
“Hey honey,you’re sick?“,Amanda asked and smiled comfortingly.
You nod.
“Yeah my tummy hurts but Mommy made it not hurt as much before we came here,but it still hurts“,you say.
“Oh no that’s not good“,Amanda said sympathetically before turning her attention back to Olivia as she began to talk again.
“I mean usually I would take the day off but you know,the case we’ve been working so hard on goes to trial today and I have to be present and….omg“,Olivia continued and looked at the clock in shock.
“I didn’t realize it was already this late,I have to be in court in 20 Minutes,I have to go“,she said and put your bag into Fin‘s hand.
She then quickly handed you over to Amanda and before the both of them could say anything she rushed out of the door with a :
“Could you guys please watch her for me until I get back,thank you so much“ and then she was gone.
Fin and Amanda looked at eachother,baffled by what had just happened.
“I guess we’re babysitting today then“,Fin said.
“Guess so“,Amanda replied and bounced you up and down in her arms gently when you cry out:
“Mommy!“
“She’ll be back soon y/n,I promise“,she said in a high pitched voice and sat down at her desk with you on her lap as you refused to let her put you down.
You liked Amanda and Fin so you didn’t mind staying with them but you’d rather have your Mom with you.
As you were sat on Amanda’s lap while she was filling out some paperwork your vision kept getting blurry and you felt yourself getting tired again.
The two adults noticed that you kept rubbing your eyes.
Fin bend down to talk to you.
“Do you wanna take a nap in one of the beds here y/n,you look tired?“,he asked.
You shake your head.
“Nooo“,you say in a whiny tone and wrap your arms around Amanda’s neck,burying your face in her shoulder.
It’s okay,Amanda mouthed to Fin and he went back to work.
Soon enough you end up falling asleep anyways but neither Fin nor Amanda dared to move you to one of the beds because they were afraid of waking you up,so you stay on Amanda’s lap like this until you wake up a bit later again.
You open your eyes and look up when you hear people talking.
Turns out Carisi had arrived and was giving Amanda a kiss.
When they realized that you had woken up they stopped and Carisi introduced himself to you.
“Hi,I am Dominik what’s your name“,he said,bending down so he was at your eye level.
You were a bit shy around new people so you look up at Amanda and she nodded,so you say:
“y/n“,in a quiet tone.
“Well it’s nice to meet you y/n“,Carisi said warmly and looked back at Amanda again.
“I promised the girls I’d take them to get some ice cream later tonight,is that okay?“,he asked.
Amanda nodded but sighed.
“If you have already promised them that,then why are you asking me now?“,she said.
“Sorry,it’s just Jesse begged me for ice cream this morning when you were in the bathroom so I said that it’s too early but that I will take the both of them to get ice cream after work tonight,so that she would stop begging“,he explained.
Amanda smiled and giggled a little.
“Fine,I don’t mind,I can’t say no now anyways“.
You interrupt their conversation.
“Did Mommy come back yet?“
“No,not yet“,Amanda said,stroking your hair.
“Does your tummy still hurt?“,she asks.
“Not so much but I still want my mom“,you reply.
Amanda nodded.
“Do you miss her?“
“Yeah“,you reply while playing with Amanda’s hair.
“Well I just saw that your Mommy packed you some toys in your bag to play with while she’s gone,so why don’t you have a look and do that?“,Carisi suggests.
You nod and climb off of Amanda‘s lap.
As you were searching through your bag you didn’t notice Carisi leaving,but since you didn’t really know him you wouldn’t have cared anyways.
You find your favourite Barbies and take them into an empty interrogation room to play with them.
You do that for a while and notice that it was getting darker.
Since you couldn’t read the clock yet you didn’t know what time it was but you knew that it was getting dark in winter earlier,so you weren’t too concerned that your mom hadn’t gotten back yet.
“Playing alone is boring“,you mumble to yourself and run back out to Amanda and Fin who were discussing some work stuff.
You jump up and down excitedly with your Barbies still in your hands and interrupt them.
“Amanda,Fin,come play with me“
You tug on Amanda’s arm.
“Honey we have to work….“,Amanda starts.
“Pleeeeease“,you beg.
“I guess we could take a quick break and play with the kid for a few minutes,Liv won’t mind“,Fin says.
Amanda nods.
“Okay“,she agrees and your face lights up.
You quickly assign one Barbie to each of them and the three of you sit down on the floor in Olivia‘s Office to not distract anyone else.
You hadn’t been playing Barbies for more than 10 minutes when the door opens and Olivia enters the room.
Surprised she chuckles:
“What are the three of you up to?“
You all turn around in sync and you throw your Barbie on the floor and run towards Olivia who picks you up into a hug and then settles you on her hip.
“Mom you’re here,I missed you!“
“Ohhhh I’ve missed you too“,she says and kisses your forehead,noticing that you weren’t feeling as warm as this morning,so that was a good sign.
“Amanda and Fin played Barbies with me“,you say happily.
Olivia smiles.
“That’s nice of them“.
“But we also worked“,Amanda clarified quickly.
“I‘m sure you did“,Olivia replied,thanking them for watching you and quickly telling them about the case and that Court went well.
Fin and Amanda were relieved to hear this.
Olivia then looked at the clock and said that she wanted to get home early today to take care of you now that Court was over and that Fin was in charge for the rest of the day.
She then quickly picks up your toys and puts them in your bag so you could go home.
Still carrying you she went to walk out of the Precinct but before you guys reached the door you yell: “Bye Amanda and Fin“ and wave to them which made them smile and they both yelled :
“Goodbye y/n“ back.
Olivia smiled and kept walking to her car as she said: “I see you’ve had great babysitters today“.
