    Summary

While most of the windows and doors had been boarded up by the efforts of their patrols, Finn couldn't help the paranoia that had him glancing up every few minutes to survey the balconies with their ghostly shadows dancing in the empty silhouette of old windows. He felt like the eyes of the dead who once called this place home were watching him. That their figures still lingered despite the battle tearing their homeland apart. It made him uneasy since the moment he stepped foot in this city.

While wandering camp, these eerie shadows kept stealing his attention, causing his gaze to rise where no one else cared to follow. It was there that he saw it.

The shadow of a man perched atop the third floor balcony overlooking the camp. The snow slipped down the shattered tiles to heap along the platforms giving him a sturdy enough berm to hide himself behind. His heart quickened as the man’s gaze surveyed the camp laid out below him with a pair of binoculars. A heartbeat passed when his attention dropped to where Finn was currently standing.

A jolt of something, whether it was panic or adrenaline, felt like it seared through his nerves.

“Oh no.” Finn hissed through his teeth.
