Summary
Catnap is was born, feeling nothing.
He felt cold, and everything was painful and annoying. Then the prototype gave him the option of freedom, his first salvation. But that didn't fix the frigidness of his heart. Then there was the sun, who warmed him up and let him feel. His glorious light that he had to keep for himself.
Sure there's a difference between his gracious god and his sunlight, though the dead could no longer differentiate what Catnap was thinking after a certain point, as they watched over them from the afterlife. The critters could only watch over their leader as catnap kept him from them, in the living world, like a hostage.
