Noticibly Different

Summary:

From upon my arrival to this team, from god knows when, I havn’t made one connection, not even a single thing to contribute to the team. This was my time to shine.

“Oh my God get up!”

With dried up drool stringing to the side of my face, I awake with a scare. Bedsheets pulled fully off my body.

“I’m up already..” Turning around on the now stripped bed, I prayed they would give up on trying to pry me from my very comfortable position.

“Do you think that works? Lucia, we had a whole speech about this yesterday!” From the voice, I realize Allem was the one after me, forcfully shaking me back and forth.

“Yeah, yeah. I was just about to get up. It’s just hard to open my eyes near you, since you’re always practically glowing.” I shoot him a look after arising from my position, only to see an annoyed face before stomping out.

Quickly changing my clothes, I snag on a brave face in the mirror and run out.

Notes:

This is really just me making a fic about my two favorite! But I did want to change things up a bit. Make sure to read tags if your ever confused who everyone is!

Work Text:

Being stuck in space is somewhat “fine” when you don’t think about the mass amounts of stress put over you by Allen and literally the rest of the universe, not to mention how you might never see your family again.

But whats not okay, is how I have no way to actually keep clean in this stupid 11000 year old ship.

Or;how everytime I try to take a long shower, Im forced to talk about how to fight some shitty galrans. Like for example, this very moment.

Scrubbing my scalp with some random substance to be defined similar to shampoo by Allem, I get called out from my somewhat peaceful state and hurry to get to the crews side.

“Lucia? What took you so long?!” Allem practically screaches, hands streached put towards me, while I walked fashionably through the automatic doors.

“You act like Lucia being late isn’t a normal thing.” Pidge crosses his arms, already being in his dsignated seat like the rest of the crew members.

“But what if we had a crisis needing all of us in the same location!? And we needed that in a short time?!” Allem shoved a finger at my torso allowing a small blush to fall on my face as I realizes the small space between us. With his forein accent, he speaks again. “Point is. We need you to see this as important. The black lion is still being held captive, and we still arn’t able to fully form Voltron without it!”

Allem turns, taking all his anger away from me to look outside at the star filled space. “Plus, the Gulra are so close to finding out our plans, they know someone is up to something by taking the rest of lions. It’s only soon that they find us out here.”

His face shifts serious, after finally speaking out his fears. I always hate to see Allem like this, my worries all alighn with his. The Galra will find us one day, what will we do then? How will we be able to literally save the whole, entire universe? Especially, if I wasn’t helping the team.

But it was my job to keep spirits high, I needed to be there for him.

I place a hand on his shoulder, drawing attention to myself once again. “You’re right im sorry.” I force a small smile through my deciving lips, hoping to fool him enough to transform the mood. “It will be fine.”

“Thanks Lucia, but you don’t need to comfort me.” Allem shoves my hand off as he walks towards the front of the ship.

All this does is make my heart flutter more. He’ll warm up to me one day.

Hunter sighs from the side. “So, whats the problem, Allem?”

“Right.” Allem continues to head to his seat located in the middle of the rest of the paladins.

As he touches buttons and navigates his hand around the screen, while I head to my own seat.

It was like any other long and boring meeting. Allem would ramble about things we need to do better, or keep underrapts. Then he would talk about how i’m being set on a mission inside the blue lion alone. The usual.

Wait.

“WHAT.” I shove myself up from the arms of my chair, noticibly making it clear how crazy this is to me.

“Luce, it’s the only reasonable option.” Allem makes a small sigh before explaining further. “I know going in pairs would be better but Shira is still injured, and Hunter and Pidge are needed here.”

He says this in a softer tone, attempting to let me take in this information better, in which, I didn’t.

I honestly don’t know what to say to that. Being put into space with 5 other people is aready insane, especially with 2 of them being actual aliens, but being told I needed to go on a solo, secret mission was, well… Cool I guess?

Me, secret detective Lucia, sneaking on a Galran ship, with a soon to be leader, to try and get information to obtain the black lion again; sounded like something straight out of a movie.

But, am I really qualified?

“Great. You broke her Allem!” Hunter yelps from her seat, making an overly dramatic face.

“I-“

I take a breathe.

I’m not really needed on this team. I’m just here as a filler, so maybe, just maybe, this will be a chance to prove myself.

“You bet your butt I’ll do this. I’m like, super excited actually.”

I shove my feet ontop of the panel in front of me placing my arms behind my head, looking totally natural. Completely ignoring the voices telling me to cowardly run away.

“Oh. Well, that was easy.” Cat laughs from beside Allen.

“You’ll leave first thing tomorrow.”

Tomorrow?!

“Lets go eat shall we?”

Eating our green, gooey dinner- I couldn’t help but realize this plan won’t work. Me, Lucia, the most optional one on the team, was being sent out as a guinea pig to retrieve more data about the hidden black lion. Not to mention the fact that this ship is one of the most important because it involves one of the most important people to the Galrans.

I’ll admit i’m scared.

But I will do this.

After dinner I headed back to the lion’s den, as I like to call it.

I need to talk to someone, I needed to talk to Blue.

After entering, Blue immediately put down her defenses and welcomed me with open arms, and an open mouth.

I sat on my chair, and began to rant.

It’s just hard to open my eyes near you since your always practically glowing.” I shoot him a look after arising from my position, only to see an annoyed face before stomping out.

Quickly changing my clothes, I snag on a brave face in the mirror and run out.

“Great, you’re here Lucia!”

Upon entering everyone had a different thing in hand, ready for this mission I was set to persue.

Allem went on about the set up of the mission, practicly embroiding it into my mind already from the past day.

Step one: Travel with Blue to the assigned planet.

Step two: Sneak aboard the parked ship.

Step three (this was the most important step): Watch the time, I only had a limit of 6 hours after my leave.

Step four: Acquire the location of the needed lion.

Step five: Leave and head back to the castle ship thingy.

Pretty easy if I do say so myself..

“Here, Lucia,” On my way to the hangers, Pidge stopped me in my tracks.

“This is an extra communcator, it should bypass the Galran tech making you able to communicate with or without your helmet. Keep this just in case you, you know, Luce things up.”

Pidge gave me a slight shove in the stomach, only really because that was the closest reach for him.

I give Pidge a small smile.

Though I havn’t made true connections on this ship, I hope to see that change between me and Pidge. With him going through the loss of his family members in space, I feel I could potentially help him ease up a little if he ever needs it.

“Thanks dude.”

“Now get going, we only have a limited time.” Pidge turns around, already aiming back to the main room.

“You stopped me!”

“Don’t care!”

With a small chuckle, I get back to the task at hand.

I climb inside Blue being somewhat ready. I know I can do this.

“Lucia, you there?”

Hunters raspy, but calm voice, wakes me up from the stressful trance.

“Hunter! Yeah, whats up?”

“Pidge is sending you the cordinites for the planet now. Once recieved make sure to be careful on your way there, don’t let them see you!”

To myself I may or may not have wispered; “Yeah, I’m pretty good at that. Because you guys sure as hell can never spot me in a room when im on time.” But, this mission was more important then my ignorance.

“On it.”

“And, be safe will you? We’re counting on you Lucia.”

“Yes ma’am!”

By the end of “ma’am” I increased the spead and was off.

The planet wasn’t to far from the original location of the Castle of Lions. The travel would only be about 2 hours, which wasn’t bad.

It gave me a little me time.

Whenever in battle, my hair, reaching just below my buttocks, usually didn’t get in the way. But I wasn’t about to risk it.

So taking my hair band, looking in the only mirror this lion had to offer, I stared back at myself and the countless glowing objects behind me, and I pulled up my hair.

For just anyone, tying your hair up shouldn’t be that dramatic, but for me it was.

Mosty because the pony tail was terrible.

Hair stuck up in places I thought I had completely pinned down and the tie was so loose that my pony tail just continued to slide, worsening it further. So I went to war.

Trying about 30 times for the perfect pony tail, with tactics like; bending over- or going slower, I soon gave up. Thought I didn’t count this as a defeat, usually my parents tie my hair up. Consider this a first timer.

Hopefully it won’t get in my way as usual.

Soon after, I was alerted about my closeness to the planet, including the information for my approach.

We knew the exact location of the parked Galran ship, the course of action for me was to arrive slowly on the planet from a close enough point, but not close enough to be a short walk.

I began to enter the planet’s atmosphere bracing for the short tourbeluence that it would bring to Blue and me.

Just beyond the horizon of their ship, I parked my own lion.

The planet was a beautiful blue color, all the weird and new plants stood with no wind. Making everything seem still.

Even myself.

I decided to hide Blue behind some rocks and other random debree. Making sure it was easy enough to move if anything goes south; and I need to quickly remove myself from this planet.

Always thinking ahead of course.

Exiting, I started to walk towards the location with the Galran ship. Around me stood tall trees and other shrubbery, all multiple shades of blue. While walking, things grew quieter, with the recent movement of a bush.

No one has contacted me since I left off from the ship. I wondered if I should report in, at least of my position.

“I made it on the planet, Im heading towards their ship now.”

I continued to walk, waiting for an answer.

“Great job Lucia! Keep at it.”

Hearing a great job from Allem brought me nearly to tears. I hardly recieved praise from the prince.

His words was all the motivation I needed for this trip.

Finally, the forest came to an end, and though the shadows of the cloudy sky made everything appear darker, the ship finally came into view.

Even though seeing one of these before, the look of it always casted a shiver through my spine. It was a misty black color, with bright purple lights, all seemingly in some sort of pattern. The ship was scary to say the least, and honestly the pure feel of it made me want to run away like some rabbit in the face of a bear.

How would I even enter this thing?! The forest ended here, and I wasn’t about to openly walk in a clearing to preach about how; I’m Lucia looking to take back my lion!

Already getting worried, I began to scan my surroundings. When I spotted part of the ship parked over fallen trees it’s almost as if I heard a light bulb ding.

I started to scurry through the forest.

I only had about 4 more hours, earth time, to get on, place this weird thing ontop of their main transmitter, and get out.

4 hours was honestly to long, I could do this in 30 minutes if I wanted to.

Allem had obtained the whole map of the ship, giving me a good idea of the inside. With this, I knew that this little extension of the ship was safe to enter, and the best option due to the fact that most of it was surrounded by thick trees. It held mostly storage, which I had no idea the Galrans even needed to begin with.

I quickly unscrew a small square of metal located on the side of the compartment. Once open, I can’t help but crack a smile. Already inside with 3 hours and 42 minutes left.

With my lankthy, tall, and very attractive body, it was honestly hard to pull myself into the small place. After finally in, I Slid the metal peice in sideways, and put it over the hole to show no noticeable exit.

Navigating the place wasn’t a big deal, except the fact that I kept mixing up my left and rights before taking the next turn, enabling me to finally use my fingers to help make the L, to at least know the side of my left.

Walking around I was finally close enough to hear the slow murmurs of the officials.

“Yes sir, I have sucured the gem we have come here for.”

“Good.” The guy continued to talk things I couldn’t understand due to the distance.

Not long after hearing the conversation, the two men left the room. Understanding this. I quickly hung out behind the corner breathing as quiet as im able.

Soon, the footsteps dissipated and I ran to the room once realizing I was in the clear.

“Alright, I just place this weird thingy anywhere near this, I think..”

My face grew confused after sitting down the Pidge made device.

For a short time the device continued to blink green as usual, suddenly staying a red light.

I assumed this meant it was working, but why would red be the color to resemble that?

I began to walk around the room examining the small details that was laid out on the walls. Posters of potential quest and plans hung to one wall, and the other was filled with bags of random materials that clung to its base. It made me wonder why they didn’t stick that in the perfectly good storage room which I had entered in?

With the posters I realized a small photo. Barely sticking to the side of the wall, including 3 people. One galran and 2 humans stood in the picture together. Almost like a- family?

“Put you’re hands where I can see them, now!”

I quckly looked back to the entrance where the loud roar came from. A girl stood with a gun aimed right for me, her face appeared to be furious at the sight of me in her office.

This won’t be how it ends, i’ll get this information, and this random girl, wont be the one to get in my way.
