After all the chatter Logan was hearing during the past weekend, he knew that the announcement was close to happen. He thought he was prepared for it, prepared for the public to know that Carlos Saiz would replace him after this season. Prepared for the amount of comments regarding his career and the cheers that he will be gone. But he wasn't. He was casually scrolling through Instagram, when his feed updated and exposed him to different posts, reporting the news. His heart shattered to pieces and while he wanted to just throw his phone away, he ended up freezed and just couldn't keep his eyes away from the comments. He sighed. Not knowing what was worse to him, all those hyped comments for Carlos or the comments about him. Even the few nice comments didn't reach his head. And his mind went downright into spiraling.

The annoying and bad voice was back. Logan immediately buried his face into the pillow and went into a spiral of crying, sobbing and screaming. Everything became too much. He tried to calm back down, but it was impossible.
Oscar, who was packing his bags some rooms away, immediately took his as well as Logans keycard when he became aware that the news broke out. He was already by Logan's side when the team started to care less and less about Logan and when they both got wind of James wanting to sign Carlos. Oscar was the only one who knew what all those things really did to Logan and he was the only one who knew about the voice in Logan's head, the voice that made Logan drown in spirals of self doubt and depression more often than not.
He almost ran over to Logan's room and let himself in. Oscar sighed when he saw Logan. He walked over to the bed and sat down on the bed beside Logan. Logan looked up from his pillow and tried to smile when he saw Oscar. His face rather showing a grimace than something that could have been considered a smile. ,,Do you need a hug or do you want to hold my hand or do you want me to just be here?", Oscar asked and gently caressed Logan's head. Logan slowly got up and shifted into a seating position, still crying and also shaking a little. ,,Please don't leave me.", Logan mumbled and threw his arms around Oscar. Oscar wrapped his arms around Logan. He held him and caressed his back, letting Logan cry into his shirt.
,,I am never leaving you.", Oscar whispered into Logan's ear and sighed. He knew their relationship would likely be harder to handle with Logan in another racing series or doing something else, but it was something he would take without question. His love was strong and he was sure that he would be able to handle any form of long distance, just to be able to still be with the man he loved so so much. ,,But I am shit and you are so good. Why would someone like you want to be with someone like me?", Logan mumbled into Oscar's shoulder. ,,Because I love you. I love you so so much and I couldn't care less about your racing stats or stuff like that. I will love you even if you are never ever racing again after this season. I will love you, if you race in IndyCar, endurance or somewhere else. I will love and support you probably in every step you make, because you are the most important person in my life.", Oscar answered with a slight smile and turned Logan's head so that he was looking at Oscar. ,,Are you for real?”, Logan asked and slightly tilted his head. Oscar chuckled. ,,I am for real, darling.”, he said and gently kissed his boyfriend. Logan slowly returned the kiss and leaned more against Oscar. He hated that it was so hard for him to believe Oscar now. Even though Oscar was telling and showing him again and again, how much he loved him.
,,Why can’t I be like you?”, Logan asked after some time. ,,Because you are you and I am me. You are loved for being yourself. You are wonderful, even if it’s difficult for you to see. F1 was hard for you and on you, but that doesn’t mean that you can’t thrive in another environment.”, Oscar answered and gently caressed Logan’s cheek. ,,Why are you so sure about that?”, asked Logan. ,,Because I know you and because I know that you are able to race and are capable of more than what we saw in F1.”, Oscar countered and smiled. Logan sighed and snuggled up against Oscar. ,,How about we stop thinking about it for a moment and just cuddle?”, Oscar suggested. Logan nodded and they both lied down, snuggled up against each other. Oscar moved his hand up and down Logan’s back, hoping that Logan was able to get his mind away from the sport for a moment and just focus on them in the bed, cuddling like they always did. Logan closed his eyes, focused on listening to Oscar’s heartbeat. His emotional outburst had drained him and just some minutes later, Logan was asleep. Calm in the presence of his boyfriend. Oscar smiled when he realized that Logan was asleep and kept caressing Logan’s back and the back of his head.
After some time, Logan turned around to lie on his back. Oscar smiled, happy that Logan seemed calm. He kept one arm slightly wrapped around Logan and also closed his eyes. Around an hour later, Logan woke up again and turned back around towards Oscar. ,,Good afternoon.”, said Oscar and gave Logan a kiss on his forehead. Logan leaned in and wrapped an arm around Oscar. ,,Do you feel better now?”, asked Oscar and looked deep into Logan’s eyes. Logan sighed. ,,Not fully, but I think I will be. It just needs time.”, said Logan. Oscar nodded. ,,It’s probably good that summer break is coming up.”, he guessed. Logan nodded. ,,I’m so ready for summer break and the possibility to not think about racing for some time.”, said Logan. Logan started to draw circles on Oscar’s back and went into a thoughtful moment. ,,Maybe I should try to get a seat in IndyCar.”, he said after a while. Oscar’s face light up. ,,That sounds like an amazing plan, Lo.”, said Oscar and kissed Logan. ,,I just want to find true happiness and light in racing again.”, Logan mumbled. ,,You will, you will.”, said Oscar.
They both went into the summer break together, spending some days in Monaco, before heading south, to a private house with a private beach, hoping that they would be able to zone out from the racing world and just relax. Some days into the holiday, Logan suddenly got a call. ,,Huh?”, he showed Oscar his phone. ,,Just take the call, maybe it’s important.”, said Oscar. Logan took the call. ,,Hey?”, he said, unsure of who to expect at the other end of the line. ,,Hello Logan, this is Prema, I am calling you because we wanted to ask you, if you are potentially interested in an IndyCar seat and joining our IndyCar project?”, asked the guy on the other side of the line. ,,Rene?”, Logan asked with confusion. ,,Yes, it’s me. So what do you think?”, Rene Rosin answered. Logan looked shocked and Oscar looked at him with confusion. ,,I would feel honored to get this chance, but why are you contacting me and not my manager.”, said Logan. Rene chuckled. ,,I tried to, he just also is on holiday, so I tried to reach you.”, said Rene. ,,I forgot about that.”, said Logan and laughed a little. ,,So, how about we meet up whenever we are able and just talk and if it sounds good to you, we could go into contract negotiations.”, Rene suggested. Logan smiled brightly. ,,Let’s message and figure out a date after Oscar and I are back from our holiday.”, said Logan. ,,Deal. See you then.”, said Rene and they ended the call, after Logan also said goodbye.
Logan smiled brightly. ,,What just happened?”, asked Oscar with a hint of confusion. ,,Rene Rosin just called and I guess we will have a talk about a potential Prema IndyCar seat.”, Logan explained. Oscar's eyes widened in surprise. ,,Oh my god, I am so happy.”, he said and pulled Logan into a tight hug. ,,There is a light at the end of the tunnel.”, Logan mumbled into Oscar’s shoulder.
