The (Re)Awakening

Summary:

Imagine being haunted by the vampire who stole your heart twenty years ago and brought magic to your life.
For you, you have become hard and cynical and know that reality is not the same as fantasy and you have put away such dreams because no one else had those dreams. (As far as you knew?)
Here you are, today, living real life and going through the crazed stress of everyday life and one day, that dashing vampire somehow walks back into your life and no matter what, he will not leave you alone (because he won't be ignored)
This is Lestat's latest challenge: waking up the cynical, pragmatic woman (the reader) who has shelved him as fantasy and making her realize he can be real to her again.

Chapter 1: Prologue

Chapter Text

Prologue October 2000

It is a cool night in your hometown. After a massive heatwave, you are grateful for the cool wind to blow into your bedroom. As you sit by the window in your chair, you cannot help but be swept away by this passage from the new book you got at the library. The words speak to you and you wish they were happening to you right now:

“In my isolation now I dream of finding some sweet young thing in a moonlighted chamber—one of those tender teenagers, as they call them now, who read my book and listened to my songs; one of those idealistic lovelies who wrote me fan letters on scented paper, during that brief period of ill-fated glory, talking of poetry and the power of illusion, saying she wished I was real.”

“Yes”, you say, “I do wish you were real. I wish that more than any other man who could say they were Prince Charming coming to take me to his castle, where I could live my days as his wife”. Ugh, that fantasy—as much you find them charming and amusing, something to pass on to your children someday—it’s not the fantasy you hope for, though it is the one implanted in you since birth.

As you sit there, you dream of just that: instead of Prince Charming coming to climb your bedroom wall, it is that charming, mysterious, and dangerous vampire flying in instead. You dream of him looking into your eyes with his iridescent blue-violet ones, cupping your head with his large hands and saying exactly what he wrote: “Yes, darling”, he says, “and you don’t know how much I need you, how I love you, how I always have.”

It wouldn’t stop with a kiss as he suggests; he would bite your neck, just enough to taste you and you would not fight it because it is like an act of consummation; a primal ritual to explore you with his vampiric senses and not know where it will lead. But you know it will ultimately lead to your bed and he will tease your lips and neck and arms and everywhere else until you feel that warm pleasure down past your navel to your sweet spot—the spot that will explore all of your sexual desires and fantasies.

Yes, who needs a prince to come sweep you off your feet? This vampire, this blond, angelic beauty with the dark twisted soul—he is more that any prince you will ever need—or want. You fall asleep imagining him whispering in your ear, poetic yet savage, sensual yet sweet, to the point you fall under the spell of his voice.
