The Carmine Series
History got a funny way of leaving empty spaces.
A few months here. A few quiet nights there. The world keeps moving, but nobody ever asks what happened in between.
The Carmine Series lives in those spaces.
Running almost parallel to AMC’s Interview with the Vampire Immortal Universe, this series embraces the events of Seasons One and Two while weaving together threads from Anne Rice’s original Vampire Chronicles, the 1994 Interview with the Vampire film, and Queen of the Damned. The destination remains familiar. The road getting there… not so much.
Set between Season 2 and the beginning of Season 3, these stories begin in August 2025, after Lestat’s failed return to music. His regional tour has ended. His album barely made a ripple. For once, he isn’t the loudest voice in the room.
Louis is.
For Louis, home has become more of an idea than an address. Louis drifts, searching for something neither relationship seems capable of giving him.
Then the past remembers his name.
A descendant of the du Lac family emerges from history carrying old wounds, older curses, and questions no vampire has managed to answer.

Daniel zips his jeans back up before heading back to the bar, but as he turns the corner of the alley he sees someone standing at the end. They both stand still there for a moment looking at one another, Daniel can hardly make out the man’s face under his hat aside from bronze skin being backlit by a street light. Daniel takes a tentative step forward, only to be mirrored by the other man. He takes another step, quirking his brow, and the other man matches his step. Daniel takes a step back and the man takes another step forward.
“I don’t want any trouble man.” Daniel attempts, holding his hands up. He hears the man let out a soft laugh.
The man takes another step, Daniel takes another step back. Sufficiency creeped out, Daniel turns tail and runs out the back of the alley, not wasting any time looking behind him as he runs the full six blocks back to his apartment. Daniel slams the door behind him, deadbolting the door and putting the chain on. Daniel huffs as he rests back against the door, wonderful, he’s picked up a stalker.

Summary
Daniel takes a sip of water and it soothes his dry throat as he turns around. He fucking chokes when he’s met with Rashid being about five steps too close to him. Daniel coughs as his heart races. He holds a finger up at Rashid as if to say ‘hold on’ or ‘stay there’. He finally hacks up the last bit of water and takes a few gasping breaths.
“What the fuck man?” Daniel half yells. “Did no one ever teach you what personal space is?” He asks.
Rashid is silent, just smiles like the little shit he is.
“Well?” Daniel asks as he sets the cup down on a counter so he doesn’t accidentally drop it.
“I assumed the last thing you wanted from me was ‘personal space’ Daniel.” Rashid says as he takes another step closer, forcing Daniel to lean back against the countertop.
