Work Text:

Ratio wrapped three a towel around his neck and fixed the knot on his white bath robe. His hair was still drenched from his bath as his body was still wet and steamy from the steam filled room. He walked over to the sink counter and picked up some lotion. He squeezed some out onto his hand and gently applied it to his face. He never cared for skincare as much as he does now. His lover was overseas for a department meeting and never gave him a date when he’ll come back. He idea of wanting to look the best whenever his lover was around started since they started seeing each other. Ratio evenly applied a moderate amount onto his skin and tapped it out trying to make sure it takes up the moisture. He closed the lid of the bottle and set it aside.

He goes over to the open book on the counter of the sink near the bathtub after grabbing a toothbrush and applying some toothpaste on the bristles. He leaned against the counter and turned his body to the opened book, carefully trying not to get any water droplets sink into the pages. He was reading this book while he was bathing before, quite a long and big one it was.

With Aventurine gone, he had nothing to do to pass time. Usually the gambler would be making small talk to Ratio. Telling all about his day, the people he met, the things he done… complaints, suggestions, comments, Ratio indulged in all of Aventurine’s needs and replied in either two ways. His truthful thoughts or replies that satisfy Aventurine’s needs which is not far from his truthful replies. But with Aventurine on his trip, not knowing when the other man will come back, Ratio has no one to pass time with unless it’s with the company of a book.

Ratio spat out the toothpaste into the sink and rinsed his mouth with water. He placed a bookmark where he last left off on the book and closed its pages letting it sit still on the sink counter. He doesn’t know how many more of these types of days he’s going to get introduced to but it didn’t bother him as much as he thought it will be. With the absence of Aventurine, there was a invisible label of solemn in the humble bathroom of Veritas Ratio’s where he could finally enjoy a good thesis. But netherless he still missed the man. He missed bathing with him and watching him do something stupid once in a while. Those small actions of him made him even cuter Ratio thought.

He opened the door from the bathroom of his bedroom and stepped out of the white room. He saw a figure by his bed, standing next to the bedside desk. He quietly took his steps closer to the figure. At the sound of the bathroom door opening, the figure by the bed turned around to the sound. Before, tensed, at the sight of the doctor, the figure’s body language immediately relaxed as he softened his shoulders and smiled at the doctor.

Aventurine turned around at the sound and smiled. He didn’t expect Ratio to be in there for such a short period of time but at the same time, he did arrive home at a pretty late hour. His face instantly lit up at the sight of Ratio’s as Aventurine waited, shifting his weight from leg to leg as his doctor approached him. “Good morning to you Doctor,” Aventurine smiled cheekily as he leaned to the side and cocked his head.

Ratio was about to melt from the younger man’s smile. “You came home late,” Ratio said, fixing his hair out of his eyes. “I would have prefer if you came home earlier than in the middle of the night.” He really was finally back. Ratio rubbed his eyes a few times to make sure he wasn’t imagining a hallucination of his lover. Aventurine thought Ratio had some eye problem and made a mental note on the back on his mind to order some new and improved eye drops for him.

“I don’t even get a ‘Welcome back’ from you?” Aventurine joked with a smile. Aventurine sat down on the bed next to him, head tilting up to look at Ratio looking down at him.

The gambler was still wearing his business attire just not with the jacket. His tie was loosened and the cologne on his neck faded a bit. His hair had a few strands out of place but his face was exactly the way Ratio remembered it to be.

The educator leaned forward to blonde and reached his for his face. He held up his chin and slowly trailed his fingers like iceskates on ice over to his neck, collarbones, to his right arm. He trailed his hand until it reached the tip of the finger. Gently, the scholars pulled away the black glove concealing Aventurine’s hands from him. Once the glove was off, he placed it aside on the bed and Ratio raised the other man’s hand up to his lips and kissed his knuckles. Such soft hands that doesn’t deserve the labor he was working for.

“Welcome back, Peacock,” Ratio said, lips still on the blonde’s hands. His breath tickled the skin of the gambler’s hands

Aventurine was about to explode. He never knew ratio could be this sexy. Aventurine smiled and giggled lightly as he untied his hands from ratios and pressed them together next to one another, finger tips touching as well as their palms. Ratio’s eyes dazzled.

At that moment, Ratio took the blonde’s hands and slowly interlocked their fingers together, keeping his pale reddish pink eyes casted on the smaller man’s fuschia cyan eyes. He pulled Aventurine off his comfortable position on the bed and stood up with him, turning him around off sitting on the bed and led him to the middle of the bedroom. The doctor took his arm and snaked it around the gambler’s waist and squeezed it affectionately as the gambler returned this with moved his free arm onto the doctor’s shoulder, fingers caressing his warm skin. Aventurine gave out a small laugh.

They walked around in a fluid motion around the room little by little as the two never broke eye contact. Ratio let go of his lover's hand and spinned him around then quickly lacing their hands back together, it seemed like the doctor did not want one second to be wasted for them to be together. Aventurine smiled softly and gave a few giggles as they performed this dance that mimicked the ballroom dance they saw at the IPC’s last party. Aventurine wasn’t so familiar with dancing but with Ratio taking lead, he felt all the motions were so familiar and fluid as the steps just came to him. He copied Ratio’s steps as he stayed aware of his surrounding and eye contact, trying not to break those ties with his reddish pink pupils.

Aventurine stepped closer to Ratio as he leaned his head against the scholar’s beating chest, listening to his heartbeat. He missed Ratio so dearly. “It was a bit difficult to sleep at the hotels they assigned me to. None of the pillows had your scent on it,” Aventurine said with a smile, closing his eyes as he felt Ratio’s hand which was on his waist, placed on his head, fingers rubbing his skull through the golden locks of his hair. “Even some of the clothes I had lost your scent.”

Aventurine kept moving around the room slowly, following Ratio’s lead. He could see how Ratio was taking his steps smaller and slower to comply with himself. Ratio leaned his head onto the blonde’s and softly murmured for only the two of them to hear. “I’m here now, gambler,” he said. The scholar took both hands and raised up his lover’s face, gently caressing the softness of his cheek’s skin. This man in front of him, his lover, was god’s favorite. It’s like the gods blessed him with everything. Ratio swept his fingers through Aventurine’s eye lid as the younger man closed them. Ratio felt the blonde’s long eyelashes. Features carved by god alone. He was truly a gem in this world. “I’m here.”

The gambler smiled. “You are,” he cooed as he wrapped his hands behind Ratio’s neck, gently pulling him closer to his face. “I missed you.”

“I missed you too,” Ratio said pulled away, regaining form of their dancing positions and part. He grabbed the other man’s two hands and twirled him in place. He came back together and continued their slow steps.

“You’re shampoo smells nice. I missed it,” Aventurine said, playing with the still wet strands of hair on the back of the doctor’s nape.

“It’s peach and osmanthous,” Ratio said. Aventurine already knew that. Ratio knew he knew too but indulging the man like this was something he couldn’t stop himself from. Aventurine smiled brightly back at him.

“I never knew you were such a dancer, Doctor,” Aventhrine remarked as they pranced around the room, hand in hand.

“Neither did I knew you would be able to dance,” Ratio said with his usual nonchalant face. “My parents assigned some lessons for me when I was younger so this is all from muscle memory.”

“You are quite good at taking the lead,” Aventuribe replied, stepping closer to Ratio but the doctor swiftly steps back to keep an even distance between them. His doctor was lovingly taunting him. “But you never do dance in the parties the IPC host.”

Ratio adverted his gaze a bit, embarrassed. “I rather not like an novice dancer like me to be showcased on a floor. I never did have a partner to do so too.”

Ratio gave Aventurine a twirl and dipped him outwards, back bent over, supporting his weight with the arms around the gambler’s waist.

Aventurine was a bit caught off guard by this move. Ameature dancer Ratio says, Ratio could be performing on stage Aventurine thinks to himself. He’s a bit jealous of this talent Ratio has.

“Dance with me,” Aventurine said, eyes looking up at Ratio’s as the guy kept him in this dip position. “Next time the IPC throws a party at one of those fancy venues the rent, dance with me.” Aventurine smiled as he hears a sweet sarcastic scoff from the man holding him.

Ratio, in one sweep motion, brought Aventurine back up with the arm on his waist and grabbed his head and pressed their lips against each other. Ratio pushed his tongue pass the gambler’s lips into his wet cavern and pulled their lips apart. As the doctor pulled his lips away from the gambler’s, a string of saliva kept their lips connected to one another as Aventurine quickly tried to wipe it off. His face was flushed in red from the surprise kiss.

Ratio smiled. “Deal,” the doctor agreed. He pressed their lips again together for a quick peck before kissing the blonde’s eyelid. Aventurine submitted to Ratio’s actions and only gasped softly. Ratio pulled his face apart from his and gave him a smile, “only if you also get better at dancing, Peacock.”

Aventurine eyes lit up. “I’ll ask Jade to find me a tutor!” He said with determination.

Ratio cupped one of the gambler’s cheeks and gave him a smirk. “No need for a tutor. I can teach you myself.” Ratio gave his other cheek a light kiss.

Ratio lead them two back near the bed as now it was reverse. Ratio sat on the bed, hands behind him as he leaned back for support and Aventurine’s hands on either side of Ratio’s waist.

The doctor undid the gambler’s tie in this position as Aventurine closely watched his doctor’s skillful hands with practice and eagerness. The doctor thought the blonde looked similar to an eager cat. Once the tie was undone and discarded to the side, Aventhrine tackled the doctor onto the bed and pressed his head against the chest where the bathrobe barely covered.

Ratio ran his fingers through Aventurine’s hair as he massaged his head with care.

“The business trip was fairly boring,” Aventurine said. “Ten stonehearts was required to attend besides Diamond for some reason.”

“Mhm,” Ratio gave off a sound to let Aventurine know he was listening to him.

“Sugilite is soooo annoying,” Aventurine groaned tiredly. “That man is never getting a boyfriend or girlfriend ever with the way he acts. Pearl had Topaz to keep an eye out for him since he always seemed to cause trouble somehow.”

“Sounds troublesome,” Ratio said, patting Aventurines head.

“It is, you won’t believe what the business trip was for anyways. We were basically commercial people and was sponsoring items and some place for tourism to raise,” Aventurine complained. “We went into hotels and cruises and shot some footage at a restaurant and that’s basically all we did until we had to meet up with some clients but it was mostly Opal and Jade who took these. Obsidian was complaining about how bright all the lighting was everyday so I got to hear all about that too.”

“Well you’re not on that trip anymore so take some rest,” Ratio said. “Also what is that.” The doctor pointed at a white bag on the table that had been sitting there since Aventurine arrived.

Aventurine perked up and turned around to where Ratio was pointing, he quickly got off Ratio’s body as the doctor also began to sit up.

“I thought it would be nice to bring back a this as a gift,” Aventurine said excitedly. He took out an expensive looking bottle of wine and held it out to Ratio to present his findings. “It was the best wine they had there, they were selling it at an auction so I bought it.”

Ratio sighed hopelessly with a smile. Oh how he’s so in love. He listened to every word that came out of that pretty mouth of the younger man. Where the wine was made, how old was it, who made it.. basically the entire history of the wine.

“I also bought two wine glasses,” Aventurine said, taking out two beautiful wine glasses from the white bag as well. He gave Ratio his wine glasses in his hand and smiled. He placed his glass down and got a cork screw from his pocket and popped open the wine’s cork. Ratio tilted his wine glass forward as Aventurine took the pleasure in pouring his lover a glass of expensive red wine.

Ratio held the glass up to his eye and swirled it around. It was a beautiful deep ivory color and its aroma was certainly something. The doctor waited for Aventurine to finish pouring himself a cup as he watched his fluttering excitement and expectations in Aventurine’s eyes.

Aventurine placed the bottle down and stood in front of Ratio on the bed. They clicked they glasses together and took a sip.

“You sure know your eye in these types of things,” Ratio hummed and enjoyed the taste of liquor. “This is good wine.”

Aventurine’s eyes twinkled. “Shall I buy more? You know I can buy maybe another dozen of this—.”

“That doesn’t mean you should buy more, don’t get ahead of yourself there, Peacock,” Ratio scolded, flicking Aventurine’s forehead. “I would like to taste this only once.. and cherish this memory of it forever. You understand that don’t you, Love?”

“Yes I do but if you really do like it I can—.”

“Only buy one more bottle of this but only one.”

Aventurine smiled brightly. He took the bottle in hand and leaned forward towards his doctor. “Shall I pour you another glass, Doctor?” He smiled sweetly.

“Please do, my love,” Ratio said, playing along with this act. Ratio can’t help but mentally comment how beautiful Aventurine looks doing anything. If he was one of those hosts that pours drinks for people at bars he would surely be the favorite of everyone there. But Ratio would never let Aventurine work in a place like that, he would want to keep this image to himself. “Would you like a dance in return?”

Aventurine smiled, his eagerness showing. He placed down the wine bottle and stood in front of Ratio. “Yes please, teach me how to dance, Doctor,” he took out his hand for Ratio to take.

Ratio stood up from the bed, before taking Aveturine’s hand he placed down the wine glass and turned back to the shorter blonde. He gave him a quick kiss, licked his lips and took the blonde’s hand.

“Let’s start your first lesson then.”
