Notes:

A random reddit comment gave me this fanfic idea and you know what? I'm going with that brainrot! I wanna see Teacher!Fukuzawa and Student!Mori interaction but in a crack way.

Note: I'm still progressing through the anime and if there are any inaccuracies within the fic regarding characterizations or the events/canon plot lines, my excuse will be "this is just an AU after all!"

Chapter 1: Prologue

Chapter Text

Kyusaku Yumeno was in the corridor, enjoying the chocolate bar the visitor gave to him. That certain visitor was quite the unexpected one, though… A meeting between the leaders of Port Mafia and Armed Detective Agency; Yukichi Fukuzawa and Ougai Mori that didn't concern the safety of Yokohama city or a discussion of another temporary ceasefire was quite unheard of.

Mori was having a hard time enjoying his free time before the meeting because Elise was making a fuss again. The expensive crayons scattered all across the table were making it hard for the blonde girl to find the color blue, and with each passing second, the little one got more impatient. How was she going to finish her drawing if she couldn't find the goddamn color?

“Elise, I really appreciate your dedication when it comes to working on your drawings, but don't you think that now is not much of a great time for occupying space in the table with your drawing stuff?” The Mafia boss forced a smile on his tired face. “You see, I am waiting for an important visitor right now, and you making such a fuss in the middle of the meeting table is not a pleasant sight at all, unfortunately-”

“Ugh, why do you have to be so boring all the time?” Elise pouted, crossing her arms together. “It's always those boring meetings, paperwork and business! And your precious Elise-chan must wait until she can have fun again wherever she wants, I hate it when it happens!”

Mori didn't have the energy to elaborate further. Today was a tiresome one, and his tea was getting cold. He took one last sip from his tea before hearing a knocking sound coming from the door. “Finally!” He thought.

The much anticipated visitor had finally arrived.

The butler opened the door for the visitor, and the blonde girl frowned even more at the sight of the visitor. “Rintaro!-”

“Elise, I kindly ask you to leave, please.” Mori's voice came out calm but stern.

“You didn't tell me that HE was your visitor!”

“Elise!”

“Ugh, fine!” The little girl packed up her crayons (she found the color blue on the floor) and then bitterly left the room.

Mori let out a tired sigh as if he was apologizing for Elise's behavior. And then, as if all of that didn't happen just now, he greeted his visitor. “Don't stand there like that, why don't you take a seat?”

Kyusaku was behind Fukuzawa, silently observing the things around him as the visitor sat at the opposite side of the meeting table, facing Mori. They followed Fukuzawa to the meeting room for some reason.

“It seems like Q liked you.” Mori's playful teasing filled the room.

“I don't know why he is doing that. I just gave him the chocolate bar I promised to give him after our last meeting and he now follows me around ever since I entered this building today.”

“That explains everything. It's not very often that Q receives gifts like that.” Mori said before ordering his butler to bring him and his visitor a fresh cup of tea.

“Have you been doing the practices I gave to you lately?” Fukuzawa asked.

“Oh, um… Which one are we talking about?” Mori answered his question with a new one.

Fukuzawa let out a sigh. “The one about ‘practicing kindness towards others’, the topic of last week…”

Kyusaku pretended to open the door and leave, and then hide behind a décor to eavesdrop on their conversation. This sounded like an interesting gossip topic. Elise would like to hear about it.

“Oh, that one, right…” Mori thought for a while, thinking of something that he did that would count as an “act of kindness” towards others… And the thinking session got longer… Heck, what was the criteria for an “act of kindness” anyway? He forgot about it all! “Uh… does starting a ‘good morning’ chit chat with the mafia executives and asking about their day counts?”

“Ugh… I knew you didn't pay attention to me during the last meeting, didn't you?” Fukuzawa frowned as he was searching for the notes of the last lesson. “This will be the third time we are going to repeat this topic, and if you still don't understand it, then I will have to add an additional one and a half hour for today's meeting, so pay attention!”

Mori, a little bit tired, wasn't very excited to hear that, but a part of him was delighted about it as well. Feeling an exhausted and even slightly annoyed Fukuzawa's presence around him was such a joy to him, and it was much easier to get on his nerves that way. Each class was just another tiresome effort of Fukuzawa trying to teach him the rights and the moral ways of being a “good person”, which concluded with him giving up at the end of each class, wondering if something even slightly good could come out of this hell of a rotten being. And the cycle continued a week later, with new lesson notes Fukuzawa prepared with much dedication and care with the help of his subordinates at the Agency.

Mori, being the exceptionally awful and inattentive student he was and still is, enjoyed the entirety of this comedy show.
