Skystar week 23rd Crowns

Summary:

Skyfire has a picnic date planned for Starscream.

Work Text:

Skyfire smiled as he led Starscream up the hiking trail. The two had a day to themselves, where they didn’t have to worry about any hunters, testing waters, or upcoming deadlines. They could just have a wonderful day between the two of them.

”Where are you taking me?” Starscream asked as they continued upward.

“It’s a surprise!” Skyfire said with a laugh. The were owl could feel Starscream roll his eyes, but the long hike would be worth it. It would be just them, in a remote part of the forest. Skyfire had flown ahead that morning and set up a picnic for them in a clearing filled with daisies. It would be a romantic moment, something special for the both of them.

Starscream deserved to feel special, especially after the past couple of weeks. The scientist had been put through the ringer, between getting his samples spilled by the kids, Powell trying to pull the plug on Starscream’s research and get him sent back to the city, and Rodimus eating a frosted brownie that the scientist was holding onto for his zoom meeting day. Starscream deserved a day where he could enjoy himself, and not worry about anything.

Skyfire had planned the day out to a T. He had gone with Optimus to go get a replacement brownie for Starscream. He had made Starscream’s favorite sandwiches, and gotten a bottle of sparkling cider. The scientist was going to feel special after his trying past couple of weeks.

Spying a couple of daisies, Skyfire could feel himself smile. Everything was going his way; it was going to be an amazing day.

“This is beautiful,” Starscream said as he looked at the daisies, “a whole little clearing full of them.”

“I know! I found this place by accident,” Skyfire said, “but it's a nice place for peace and quiet.”

”Sap,” Starscream joked. Skyfire smiled and took a step back to hold Starscream’s hand as they made their way through the daisy field. Just as they neared the picnic blanket, Skyfire could spy a splash of red and white that wasn’t there before. The picnic basket was turned over and there were crumbs all over the place. The bottle of Apple cider were left alone though.

“Rodimus,” Skyfire whined as he saw a little head pop out of the other side of the basket. The little werefox looked at them, before darting away back down the mountain towards the town. Skyfire let out a deflated sigh, he should have known better than to leave a lot of food unguarded. No matter where, Rodimus was going to find it.

“Did you plan this for us?” Starscream said softly.

”I did,” Skyfire said with a sigh, “though I forgot about Rodimus and his ability to find food anywhere in any place.”

“That was so sweet,” Starscream said, “thank you.”

”I wish we could have had the sandwiches and brownie,” Skyfire said.

“That’s alright,” Starscream said, “I brought some trail mix, and he left the apple cider.” The two burst out in laughter and made their way over to the picnic blanket.

Starscream smiled as he weaved another daisy into Skyfire’s hair, making a flower crown that merged with the bright white hair. It was so sweet for Skyfire to prepare a wonderful picnic for the two of them. Even if Rodimus had eaten all of their food. It was the thought that counted.

Though the past two weeks that he had gone through, it was nice to have a day where it was just him and Skyfire. A day where he didn’t have to worry about deadlines, or Powell trying to cut funding on important projects. No online meetings or ruined samples. It was just him and Skyfire, and it was everything he needed.

“I’m sorry,” Skyfire said softly.

“What for?” Starscream asked in confusion. If anyone should be sorry, it should be him. For the past two weeks, he was so busy that he barely saw Skyfire. It was to the point he was eating meals faster than Rodimus and going back to his work. The only time they had spent together was at night where they cuddled and fell asleep. It wasn’t fair to Skyfire that he was barely around for the past two weeks.

“That I didn’t think about putting some sort of safe guard around the food,” Skyfire said, “I wanted this to be special for you. You’ve been so busy with your work, not to mention how stressed you’ve been. I wanted to make you feel special.”

“You make me feel special everyday.” Starscream said, “I’m so lucky to have someone like you in my life. I should be the one apologizing, I’ve been so busy with deadlines and Powell being an idiot, I’ve barely had enough time to spend with you.”

”Don’t be sorry about that,” Skyfire said as he sat up. “Your job is important, I just wish I could have helped more.” The were owl held a daisy flower crown in his hands.

“You’ve done so much,” Starscream said with a smile, “thank you for being there for me.” Skyfire had the biggest grin on his face as he placed the flower crown on top of Starscream’s head. For Starscream, everything was perfect. There was nothing that Starscream could ever want or need, as long as he was with Skyfire.

Skyfire always made his heart flutter, and feel like he was one of the most important people in the world. Skyfire listened to his rants, to his special interests. He was always there whenever Starscream needed him. He felt safe in Skyfire’s arms when they cuddled. Starscream’s heart always skipped a beat when Skyfire landed in his Owl form, it was just majestic and beautiful.

Starscream hoped that he made Skyfire feel the same way. The were owl was one of the greatest things in Starscream’s life. He could only hope that Skyfire could say the same about him.

“I love you,” Skyfire said.

”I love you too,” Starscream said. Skyfire leaned in for a kiss and Starscream embraced him. At that moment, everything was right in the world.
