Tallulah, in loose sleeping clothes, looking grey in the dim light of the night. She stood at the window, up on her toes, peeking down on the streets.
“Tallulah?” Phil asked, confused and tired. The girl turned. She walked up, and reached her hands out to him.
Carefully, gently, Phil picked up the fragile, small child into his arms. Sleep and stars clouded her eyes as she blinked at him. She rested her head on his shoulder
“Where is Chayanne?” Tallulah asked. Phil saw moonlight reflected in her tears. “Where is Chayanne?”
“Tallulah,” Phil whispered. “Tallulah, who is Chayanne?”
Tallulah was asleep in his arms.
