In the woods

Summary:

«Yeah, lucky us, big bad jock decided that bullying the bullies was better than bullying the gays,» Felix ironically says, sitting next to Sam that, after worrying for Jake, decided that everything was okay and that his food was more important.

«The gays ? We’re not gay.» Andy protests.

«Aren’t we though ? I mean, cuddling guys, kissing guys, hiding with guys and loving guys seem like pretty gay things to do, for a dude.» Felix answers.

Or : the four boys go in the woods with their class after everything happened

Work Text:

After everything they’ve been through, actually going in the woods with their class felt different. Well, obviously it wasn’t going to be the same, Andy thought, since the last time Jake still used to bully them and Felix hated Sam. And Andy and Jake. Felix probably hated everyone in school except for his brother and Ellen.

Now, it really felt like hanging out with his friends. They were walking in the forest and Jake wasn’t complaining about them being too slow -in fact he was, but it was clearly not the same as the first time-.

«C’me on, Andy, we’d go faster if I was carrying you !» Jake teased him with a smirk and, when Felix chuckled, he raised an eyebrow. «Same for you, Dracula.»

Felix rolled his eyes. At least he was faster than Andy, and even if it wasn’t that hard, it was still something. Besides, he knew that no matter how much Jake complained, he didn’t think any of it. The four boys all were more than happy to have this opportunity to go out in the woods like that. Reminder of old time, as Felix said before Sam and Jake made fun of him for talking like an old man.

It’s only a bit later that Sam turned to Andy.

«Jake, you should actually carry him. I mean, is it just me or is he going slower and slower ? At this speed, I fear we’ll never arrive.»

«Stop it, all of you, we all have our abilities, and I am not sporty, that is all. Leave me alone, I’m better than you in all of our classes.»

«Yeah, very useful right now.» Jake answered, walking to Andy to present him his back. «Jump.»

Andy sighed as he obeyed, climbing onto Jake, not forgetting to whisper a little «not my fault if I’m not gigantic».

And Jake wasn’t his sport team captain for anything : he carried Andy during all the way to the place they were supposed to eat.

«Faster, Felix !» Andy yelled at his friend who simply gave him the finger in answer.

Even if Andy made sure to be back on the ground when they came into the place where all of the students met, he couldn’t stop Jake’s old friends from mocking them.

«Ya shouldn’t stay with those dudes, Jake. I mean, you could have come with us. It’s not because you’ve been stuck with them for weeks that you now need to be with them all the time. Quite the countrary.»

He glances at Andy who awkwardly looks at the ground. They were back home for less than a week, and even if he couldn’t imagine his life without any of the three other boys, he has to admit that he often wonders if Jake wouldn’t rather go back to his friends : the kind that are not goth and nerds. The kind that are more bullies than bullied.

«Thanks for the advice, man.» Jake answers, not paying too much attention to them.

It seems to annoy his three teammates, since they come at them, taking Felix and Andy’s food away from them.

«C’me on, Jake. You can’t say you actually like those guys ? Never seen anyone more creepy than this freak, and more ridiculous than this nerd.»

When Jake starts to hesitate, Andy think with fear about what it would look like, if everything was really back to normal. If he again had to bless Felix for existing, because thanks to him, he wasn’t really bullied. Well, «thanks to him», not really : he’s pretty sure that Felix never chose to be bullied to prevent anyone else from it.

But Jake doesn’t seem to be down for it as he takes their food back with a cold face.

«Piss off, the three of you. Never asked for your opinion. And, honestly, stop doing this bullshit. Think you’re funny ? You’re not.»

«The hell’s wrong with you ? All of a sudden you’re not like us ? You’re so much better, defending freaks and weirdos as if they deserved it ?»

They kind of all figured out that Jake had anger issues sooner, but it appears to be even more obvious when Jake punchs one of his supposed ancient friends in the middle of the face.

«Jake !» Andy shouts, going to the blond boy. «Why did you do that ?»

«They pissed me of.» Jake only answers.

«We don’t do kissing or loving.» Jake corrects as he sits, ignoring the fact that he just hit a guy.

«Yes we do.» Sam says.

When he realises that everyone has gone quiet, Sam raises his head and frowns.

«What ? Felix and I do the kissing and loving part, that’s all I’m saying.»

«You do ?» Andy shouts loudly before pulling a face and repeating, more quietly. «You do ?»

«Yes ? Shit, was it supposed to be a secret ? We don’t do the secret thing anymore, do we ? I didn’t like discovering that I was used for a spell, so I thought we were being honest.» He quickly says, looking at Felix that smirks.

«Don’t worry Sam, it wasn’t a secret.»

«Ok, so you two are... A thing ?» Jake asks, his sandwich still intact in his hands.

«Yeah. We’re boyfriends. And you two should try the kissing and loving part too. Even if, if I may, I think that one of those has already been tried.» Felix admits, grinning.

Andy opens his mouth to answer that even if he were gay, he wouldn’t have anyone with who doing all of this, but he stops when he realizes what Felix fully meant.

«Andy and I are not the same as you guys.» Jake then says, and Andy can only nods at his words, not that he would hate being a thing with Jake, but he knows it can not happen.

If Sam doesn’t argue more and also nods, Felix simply eats with food without giving any answer to the other guy.

«Heard me Felix ?»

«Heard what, Jake ?» Felix mimicks.

«I am not gay. And not with Andy.»

«Yeah... We’re... We’re not.» Andy repeats.

Felix simply shruggs, glancing at Andy who’s blinking, the distant look on his face probably meaning he is imagining himself and Jake kissing. When he finally stops, he starts to blush so hard that Felix has pity for him.

«Sam.» He calls as he gets up.

Jake had always found fascinating how Sam obeyed Felix without complaining, but now he understands the full reason of it.

«Where are you going ?» Andy asks, suddenly worried at the idea of staying alone with Jake.

«Do a lot of kissing,» Felix mocks, smirking.

Even if it was meant to be a joke, their two other friends could see on Sam’s face that he wouldn’t hate it to become real.

«So the two of them as a couple,» Jake awkwardly says, trying to break the tough silence between them.

«Yeah. I had no idea. Well, it’s indeed not true, since I had kind of guess that Sam had feelings for Felix, but I don’t really understand when it could have happened. I mean, weren’t we almost always together since I’m back ? Or maybe was it when I wasn’t there ?»

«I wasn’t really paying attention to anything, back then, so I couldn’t tell.»

«Why ?»

«Well...» Jake looks away before answering. «You weren’t there, so I was more worried about you being in danger than whatever was happening between them. That’s all.»

«Oh.» Andy is only capable of saying before blushing even more.

It’s only Felix fault, but his mind is now filled with images of him kissing Jake, and that’s embarrassing. He knows it would never happen. Gosh, he’s not even attracted by Jake in any way. Ok, maybe a bit, but Jake’s handsome, literally everyone would agree.

Jake opens his mouth to talk, but after looking at Andy’s cheeks, he stops and starts laughing.

«What ?»

«Felix knew.»

«Knew what ?» Andy insists, frowning.

«You’re blushing, Andy. Right after we were talking about kissing each other. Is it because you realized you’d like to try ?»

Andy coughs as he shakes his head.

«No ! I don’t.» He says, his eyes desperately searching for someone to save him.

Suddenly, it feels like Jake is going to start bullying him again, and he hates it. If Jake figures out Andy likes him, it’s pretty likely that it is what will happen. After all what jock would like a nerdy boy for boyfriend.

Jake goes closer to him, his smile widening as he keeps talking.

«You don’t ? Sure ? Even if I offer a free kiss, just to try ?»

And Andy can not stop himself : he glances at Jake’s lips, wondering what it would feel like.

«You’re hella gay.» Jake says with a laugh. «May I kiss you ?»

«You... You want to kiss me ?» Andy asks, looking everywhere but in Jake’s eyes.

At this, Jake stops. It’s one thing to tease the water boy, but it is an other one to actually show interest into him. It’s only when Andy takes it for an answer and steps back that Jake realizes he has to do something.

«Yeah. I kind of do.»

All of a sudden, Jake doesn’t seem so confident, and Andy makes a little smile.

«Oh. Really ? Because... Because I’d like to. Kiss you, I mean.»

Jake’s eyes widen and he leans back to Andy, softly kissing him. And yeah, they definitely should have tried the kissing part sooner, because Andy’s lips are super soft and sweet.

In his head, Andy quite agrees with this. He feels like he has been waiting forever, and when Jake steps back, he keeps staring at his lips until the jock kisses him again.

«Didn’t know you’d like that that much,» Jake whispers against his lips before chuckling when Andy smiles.

«So you two do the kissing now !»

Jake and Andy quickly steps away to look at Sam who just talk to them. Next to him, Felix sighs as he hits his boyfriend’s shoulder.

«Couldn’t you just let them, Sam ? They were busy.» He tells him.

«Sorry, sorry...»

«It’s okay,» Andy says, his cheeks fully red.

«Not really, Sam.» Jake says. «Next time leave us alone.»

«Next time don’t kiss in a public space.» Sam answers.

«That’s homophobic,» Felix says, cutting off the discussion as Andy and Jake starts to laugh.

Sam just sighs before sitting back next to his friends.

«All of you are boring. I don’t even have food anymore.» He adds, looking at his empty lunch box.

«Lucky you, I guessed you’d be still hungry.» Felix says, pulling out another sandwich out of his bag.

Sitting his shoulder against Jake’s, Andy realizes that he wouldn’t like his life to change for anything else. He might not be loved by everyone, or the sportiest guy, but he loves his life. He loves his friends, their dynamics, his powers, and, may he say, he might love Jake too.

And considering the way Jake look at him, maybe he loves him too.

«What ?» Jake asks, seeing Andy staring at him.

«Nothing.» He says, as he thinks that he’s one of the luckiest boys alive.

Notes:

Hope you liked it and it didn't suck too much, I haven't written in English for years, but considering the fandom, I thought doing it in French would be kind of pointless lmfao (I feel so alone in this fandom)

I think (and hope) I'll get better at writing in English with time ! Thanks for reading !
