Work Text:

Kasper had just moved into his new apartment. He'd like to say it felt different, more free, than he felt at his old house, but it didn't. He was still alone. Except for Poptart, and Lampert, who was the one helping him move into his new home.
As of right now, though, it was empty.
Except for his computer, an odd couch, and his TV. Maybe a couple boxes here and there.
He was just waiting for Lampert to be able to hang out. Kasper knew Lampert was busy right now, he'd been working more than usual lately. It left Kasper alone. They'd talk online, but that was still rare.
He was alone. More than usual. He didn't mind, though. Not right now. He was too busy playing video games to pass the time. Currently, he would be playing some PvP game on roblox.

.

“AGH- DAMN IT.”
He was about to turn off his laptop after being killed once again. He hadn't been the same lately, and he was starting to notice it. It even showed in his skill in the games he once loved to play. His mind had been slipping.
Just as he was about to press the power button, he got a message.
“Huh??”
He clicked on the tab, and immediately perked back up. It was Lampert.
He clicked on the message box. The message read:

Hey Kas. I know we had plans later, but I'm kind of busy. I'm sorry. I'll try to make time to hang out later.

Kasper sighed. This had been happening for maybe a week now.
Lampert would make plans, then end up being too busy to even continue with them.
He shot a message back.
No worriez dude! We can always make plans l8r ^_^
He sulked back. He missed Lampert. He missed being with Lampert. He felt so alone. From what he could tell, Lampert missed him too. Maybe. He didn't know.
He shut the tab. His computers background was a picture of him holding up Poptart with Lampert standing next to him. They looked so happy.
He missed that.
He sighed once more, and shut off his laptop.

“I guess it's just you and me again, Poptart.”
He picked up Poptart and started petting him. “At least I have you.”
He smiled down and Poptart, and Poptart was purring back.
He's glad at least one of his best friends could be with him.
He missed Lampert, though.
A lot.
Especially right now, while everything is changing for him. He was getting to move in to his own apartment, no parents. Not like he had company from his Dad before, but even then, his Dad would be there every once and a while. Didn't matter if they talked, he was still there.
That's gone now, though.
He's completely alone. He felt empty inside.
He was also decently sure he was coming down with something, too. He wasn't sure what. He just felt different. It didn't feel like a cold, it felt like something more than that. It felt like a virus. He was usually good at taking care of himself, but it was getting hard to do so lately. He wasn't sure why. He just couldn't as well as he would be able to with just any illness.
That's another reason he wanted Lampert around him. Lampert would always try to take care of Kasper as best as he could when he was sick, even if Lampert was afraid of germs, he'd at least get him some food and medicine whenever he needed it. He'd keep him company. It felt.. nice. He felt loved. He felt cared for. He felt good.
He didn't feel like that right now, though.
Even if that's all he really wanted. He wanted to feel cared for, he wanted company. Not to be alone. Not to feel sad. Not to feel like this.

Kasper picked up Poptart from his lap, and checked his clock.

It was 6 already.

“Man…Did I really spend the whole day doing this?”
He stared at the clock for a while, zoning out, until he snapped back and got up from where he was sitting.

“I guess it couldn't hurt to take some medicine now..”

He went to grab some medicine from a cabinet, and just stared at himself in the mirror for a bit.

He looked different. He looked like he had been asleep for days. He was pale, he had dark circles, and his hair was long and untrusted. He hadn't gotten a haircut in forever. He couldn't even remember when the last time he had one was.
He could barely recognize the person staring back at him in the mirror.

“Who am I?”

He didn't even know the answer to this question. He felt himself slipping day by day. He was usually very good at taking care of himself. He slept well. He didn't feel as sluggish as he was feeling right now.

“What is going on with me..”
He sniffled, and tried to fix his hair.
It didn't look any better. He still looked the same.
He just wanted to be normal once more.
Why couldn't he just be normal again?

.

It was almost 12 A.M.

The medicine wasn't helping. He just felt worse. He felt miserable.
“Uuugh..”
He rolled around on his couch. It was the only place he could lay. He didn't have a bed. He didn't want to lay on the floor.
He was about to try to go to sleep when he heard a knock at the door.
“Huh..?”

He sat up, and pulled off his blanket.

“Hello? Kasper, are you in there??”

It was Lampert. He was here.

He rushed over to the door and opened it immediately.

“Lamp!!” He smiled widely, and waved at him.

“Hi, Kas. Are you… Okay??” Lampert looked at him worriedly, and slightly backed away. “You look ill.”

Kasper frowned.
“Yeah, I know. I think I'm coming down with something.. It's okay, though! You're here!!”

“If you say so.” Lampert said, hugging him. “I've missed you.”

“I've missed you too, Lampy!!”

They walked in Kaspers apartment, and Lampert sat down on the couch.
Kasper was about to sit down with him, but then he jumped back up.
“Oh, right! I got us both something!!” He rushed into his closet and rummaged through a box.
He found what he was looking for.

He walked back into the room Lampert was sitting in, and smiled excitedly at him.

“Shut your eyes!”

“Okay.”

Lampert shut his eyes, and Kasper put a bracelet on his hand, and a shirt over his head.

“Open them, Lamp!”

Lampert opened his eyes, and suddenly he had a huge smile on his face.

“I bought us matching stuff!! I thought you might like it since we haven't been hanging out lately, and I thought maybe it'll keep us connected even when we're away from each other-”

“I love it, Kasper.”

Kasper sat down next to Lampert, and pushed him over. He wrapped his arms around Lampert and squeezed him.

“I've missed you, Lampert!”

“I've missed you too, Kas.”

Lampert wrapped his arms around Kasper as well, and just stared at him for a while. He ran his fingers through Kaspers hair and smiled at him.

They talked about stuff that had been going on with them lately, things they wanted to share, anything.

They did this for a while until Kasper fell asleep.
Lampert yawned a bit himself.

“I love you.” He whispered to him, and dozed off as well shortly after.

They wouldn't be alone tonight.
