“Huh? Nagito…? Is everything okay?” Hajime asks, still sleepy but clearly starting to come to, and Nagito feels that panic rush through him again, shaking his head against his back.
He’s supposed to be helping Hajime go back to sleep so he doesn’t have to deal with him, but instead he’s making it worse. Just like he always does. If self loathing could kill, Nagito would have been dead long ago, and with Hajime’s love bringing him back to life, he’s sure he would die again now, now that he thinks he might have lost it.
”I-It’s fine. Everything is fine, Hinata-kun. Please go back to sleep, please,” Nagito says, blinking away wet tears, clinging to Hajime and silently hoping he’ll just fall back asleep.
Alternatively: Nagito has a terrible nightmare about his prosthetic and wakes up terrified Hajime doesn't love him anymore. Hajime is there to make it better, reminding Nagito that he'll always love him, and he's never going anywhere. Nagito has never felt so lucky than he does with him.
