In a drone assembly building which has heavy security is a drone in a lab coat tinkering with a computer in his office lab, there is a nameplate on his coat :Eddie:. he gets frustrated since he was working on something big but nothing was going how he wanted it too.
POV. Eddie
;I've been going for hours! This is driving me nuts! how can this equation for the program be so stubborn as to not work?!;
Eddie stopped and looked around his lab or office to recollect his thoughts, there was oil stains everywhere and there was arms and legs in a pile he has dubbed :spare parts:, his lamp was flickering then and then in a random pattern that he has stopped trying to figure out, tools was in disarray with no rhyme or reason, and beside his computer lays a metal cube connected to his pc with a sticker on it with :E.N.D: written on it in cursive. He sighed and went back to his desk where he had his computer running a trial program. He looked at his reflection that was coming from the computer screen, his red ovals stared back at him with exhaustion, his eye bags looked horrible and his lab coat looked like it had never been washed. Eddie sighed and decided to take a break and went out of his office.
outside his office was clean and proper and there were a couple drones in white clothes talking or playing different games with each other like no tomorrow. out of the 12 drones in the room only one had different clothes then the rest, he had red ovals and had an electric guitar strapped on his back, he had a red skull on his shirt and a black punk jacket with red highlights and spikes on his shoulders and wrist, he was wearing a red beanie and had modified fingerless gloves so it could fit a drone, his shoes also had spikes and had a red skull on the sides.
The punk looking drone noticed the tired lab coat wearing drone and started walking towards him with a happy smile stretching out on his face, he stopped and hugged the ragged drone and after a couple seconds he stepped back.
???“heya dad. finally out of that cave of yours huh? Did you hit a roadblock or something?”
Eddie“no- I I MEAN yes, yes i hit a roadblock with my project so i am taking a break and was going to head outside for fresh air and clear my processor”
???"yes please do, not too be mean but it looks like you haven't rested in years with how ragged and dirty you look”
Eddie“heHA!, right you are Ed, how about this? after i've taken a walk i will go to bed and rest as much as i need, how about it?”
Ed”yea sounds great. anyway i'm going to go and practice my guitar in my room, see ya later dad!”
The punk looking drone turned around and gave his father the peace sign and left. Eddie also turned around and went to the front entrance, waving and greeting different drones on his way. After he came outside the heavy fortified building he took a deep breath and thought about his life.
At the start of his life he worked with humans to figure out better alternatives and solutions to problems when it came to the design of drones and machines made by JCjenson in spaaaaaaaace. Originally he was a normal worker but after helping a personnel with an equation that no other human or drone had figured out, he was relocated to help with drones and machines problems. but after the core explosion he took the nearest drone assembly building and made it his home. After a couple months he met a drone who he fell in love with and they got together. It was paradise and he basically became a drone doctor for all the nearby drones who needed help with different injuries. Then he had a child with the woman he loved and named him Ed since both of them sucked when it came to names, and he was happy.
Then THEY came in a drop pod, there was screaming and oilshed, many lives were lost, among them was the love of his life. The few who survived the attack either went to a drone who was named khan door-something, or the ones who were hurt ran for his building which was heavily fortified since competitors have tried to break in to get info or sabotage. After it all was done and everyone was safe Eddie did all he could to help everyone he could but some lives were lost, then when most things calmed down everyone mourned their lost ones. a couple years later almost everyone had recovered but Eddie was horrified by a diagnosis that his son had, his core was produced wrong and now every now and again he loses some control of one or two limbs and they become semi limp, so some parts of a limb goes limp due to the fact the power gets cut of at some areas at random.
and now here they are years later, hiding and trying to survive from the sky demons all while trying to have some normalcy in their lives.
he sighed for the tenth time and went inside the building, reddy to go to sleep mode.

he had done it. he finally managed to get the program he managed to copy of a dead drone to work! now to erase the parts of the program he does not need and overhaul this
absolut solver to do what he needs it to do. hes ecstatic, this took 2 years to crack but he's finally done it.
While Eddie was quietly celebrating his success, a certain punk looking drone snuck in and watched his father celebrate. ever since he could remember his father had taught him what he knows about drone anatomi and programing and has helped him develop as a person.
Even if Ed is not interested in becoming a doctor or anything similar he had loved learning about it with his father and even if he could not be with him as much anymore since this project is all his father has started thinking about, he's happy his father is happy.
Ed slowly snuck out of the lab with a smile on his face and a hint of pain in his arm
Ed;great, my arm is limp again;

pov Ed
Ed was awoken by frantic movement from outside his door and the sound of happy whispering. He sat up groggily and looked for his spiked jacket and red beanie, he then turned on the lights and looked around. there were clothes all over the chair and floor, there were posters above his desk with different rock bands and pop rock bands, on said desk was different machine projects that he was tinkering with to improve his guitar which he made himself, his bed sheets were on the ground and his blanket was folded into a ball, there were a shelf where he had books and music discs, along with figures made of scrap that he made himself, his guitar was hanging on the wall beside the bed with a paint job of yellow skulls, red flames and a black background.
he walked towards the door and opened it which gave him a heart attack since a zombie was on the other side. no wait it was his father who has probably not slept in days.
Ed“HEH!? DAD WTF ARE YOU OK!? DO YOU NEED MEDICAL TREATMENT?!”
Eddie“Wait, what? No! nonono, im fine just not slept in a while but Ed. I've done it. ive finally done it!”
Ed sighed and walked outside of his room and tilted his head in suspicion.
Ed"It's done? the project that you have been working on for years and not told me about and put your well being in the back of your mind? That project? the same one where I've been worried out of my mind that you have been consumed by a work project? that one?”
after each word that came out of Eds mouth slowly chipped away at Eddie's smile and slowly turned into horror and worry. Ed felt bad for saying all of that but his father have been so consumed by this project of his he had been neglecting his own health and slowly been more and more obsessed with said project, so Ed feels that his father needs to hear him spell out what was the problem that he and his father was having.
Eddie“i- i didn't know that it was that big of a deal, i'm sorry son i didn't mean to worry you. hope you can forgive this old man for selfish and stubborn”
Ed rolled his eyes playfully and hugged the ragged zombie doctor looking drone and started to lead him out of their dorm and towards the lab his father has practically lived in
Ed“All forgiven or whatever, just don't do that again. say you said you were done with the project? mind telling me what you created?”
Eddie"Oh! yes! you know your core problem you've had for most of you life now?”
Ed“yea? you have said that we can't replace it due to the fact that if we try to disconnect it for even 0.46 seconds it can kill me. Does it have to do with that?”
Eddie“yes. i found a drone cadaver with healing capabilities stronger then normal when i scanned them to file their name and date of death, so i copied the program in their system called the absolute solver and tried to get the program were the regeneration code string to work and relised that it needs nanites to work, so i created my own nanites that consumes metal to create more of the said nanites, like cells from a human. but the problem was that i could not extract the string of code to where the regeneration works from the whole program intact and that is what has held me back for two years but i finally found a way to get it to work. only problem was it was unstable so i took the program as a whole and overhauled it so it works since there were strings of code containing a C.Y.N and figured out it was an AI that was causing me problems so i cut it out of the program and changed the program so it works completely different from before. and now i finally managed to upload the program into my nanites and here we are!”
By the time he was done talking about his project they were in the lab and ready to demonstrate the project.
Ed was a little shocked and confused. What does this project have to do with his core? sure regeneration might help with his limbs going limp but the rest confuses him. and the part he is shocked over is the fact that his father used someone's dead corpse to do something so morally wrong, but at the same time the dead can't complain can they?
Eddie went to his desk to grab something that looked like a cube. it smelled of old oil and rust and it was dark, Ed briefly wondered if drones can lose eyesight in prolonged darkness like humans. Eddie showed him the cube with a sticker on it spelling out :E.N.D:, he was hoping on the balls of his feet and was excited.
Eddie”i call it E.N.D, its an acronym for Eds. Nanite. Destabilizer. and it's going to replace your core completely and without needing to worry about you dyi-”
Both Ed and Eddie stopped moving as the sound of metal bending against its will was heard all over the building coming from the front entrance. Then came the sound of screaming, deranged laughter and the sound of the alarm going off. Both of them looked at each other in horror across their faces. they got in.
