~ AN ~
It was a normal day. Hard classes, Rui and Tsukasa causing trouble, and Vivid BAD SQUAD practiced in the Sekai later that day instead of Weekend Garage.
After running through the new song Toya composed, MEIKO made them some drinks for a quick break.
“You sounded really good in that, Azusawa. You’ve really improved since we first met.” Toya commented.
“Oh! Thanks Aoyagi! I really like this melody, it’s very lively!” Kohane responded. It was so nice for An to get to see her smile so often.
“Your solo is also really good An!” Rin adds, “you always sing so well when you’re with Kohane!” Akito coughs off to the side.
An feels her face heat up a little bit, and her heartbeat picks up when Rin says that.
“W-Well we are partners, so of course we sing well together.” An collects her self quickly, she’s been getting good at hiding her crush on Kohane. Akito coughs again.
“Akito are you ok?” MEIKO asks.
“Huh? Oh yeah, I’m fine. I just drank too quickly.” Akito quickly retorts. An looks at him annoyed.
Akito has Hanahaki disease. She found out a few weeks ago after practice when he decided to stay behind at the Weekend Garage for a bit longer and he ended up coughing flowers in front of her.
As for the person Akito was in love with? Toya. Quite obviously. According to Akito, he caught it via asking Toya if he was open to dating (“I didn’t ask if he was interested in dating me, but just in general,” Akito had explained.) and Toya said that he didn’t really know, and was worried his dad might be problematic about it.
Akito’s stupid brain took that as unrequited love and somehow the disease manifested. It’s still not known exactly how Hanahaki happens, but Akito got unlucky.
The only people who know are An and Len because he owed her 500 yen.
The rest of practice went normally until the end when An seemed to be struggling to hit a certain note.
“Can I try An?” Kohane asked.
“Sure Kohane!” An replied.
Kohane hit it perfectly.
“Hm, since Azusawa does better with the note we’ll just change it so Azusawa sings this line, okay?” Toya asked the group and everyone agreed.
An should be fine. This was just a little thing out of her control Kohane smiled at An. Was she smiling? Or was she laughing at her? Was the girl she loved mocking her?
The world felt like it was spinning. Time had stopped.
She was going to puke.
“I-I have t-to use the bathroom!” An said quickly as she rushed away.
An ran into the Crase Cafe where a very concerned MEIKO tried to calm her down as she quickly guided her to the bathroom, KAITO and Miku following close behind.
The door shut behind An and she puked into the toilet bowl. When she finished she looked up.
There wasn’t puke in the toilet.
It was all blood and flower petals. An had caught Hanahaki.
“An are you— oh my god.” MEIKO opened the door to see how An was doing only to close the door and lock it behind her.
“An, are you ok?” An nodded. Looking at the petals, they were a pink-like orangey color. She didn’t even know this color existed.
“Hanahaki… it’s Kohane right?” MEIKO questioned, An nodded again.
“MEIKO! WHAT’S GOING ON?!” Miku called out, banging on the door, “IS AN OK?!”
“YES MIKU, WE’LL BE OUT IN A MINUTE.” MEIKO responded.
“Before you ask— I’ll confess. I just need time to plan… don’t tell anyone.”
“I can agree to that… for now.”
An flushed the toilet and they returned to the others.
