Blur

Summary:

None of them had ever really considered that Barry's healing might have limits. And Cisco doesn't know how to help with that, but he knows how to make sure Barry doesn't go through this alone.

Writer's Month Day 29: sense/bus

Work Text:

Something smelt really good. Barry turned his head in the direction of the smell and the door closing.

“I brought lunch,” Cisco said and Barry smiled as a blurry shape sat next to him.

“How are you feeling?” Cisco asked.

“Tired,” Barry admitted. “How’s everyone else?”

“We’ll figure this out,” Cisco promised. “Barry, about what Caitlin said.”

“It’s fine,” Barry brushed him off. “I’m fine.”

“You’re my bff, dude,” Cisco said. He patted Barry’s hand. “You don’t need to lie to me.”

"Other people deal with this and worse and they're fine," Barry said. "You just live with it, right? What other choice have I got? I have to be fine with this."

"Eventually," Cisco said. "But not right now."

“I’m supposed to be the Flash,” Barry flopped down. “How am I supposed to do that now? How am I supposed to stop Zoom when I can’t see him?”

“You don’t have to do this on your own.”

“I have super-healing,” Barry said. “I’m supposed to be able to heal.”

Arms wrapped around him and Barry felt soft hair tickle his nose as Cisco pulled him into a tight hug.

“I got struck by lightning and woke up from a coma with abs,” Barry said.

“I don’t know how your healing works,” Cisco said. “But Caitlin did say she really damaged your eyes. They might heal, in time.”

“Caitlin doesn’t think so. She said this level of damage is the permanent kind.”

“Then we will figure it out,” Cisco promised. "I know Patty figured it out last night but the glasses worked for most of the date, we could try those again. I can make a costume and go out there with you. I don't really know how visions would help but I could."

"Are you okay?" Barry asked. "With us knowing?"

"You're my best friends," Cisco said. "If I can't tell you, who can I tell? Besides, you have bigger problems."

"Harry outed you," Barry said. "I can kick him out S.T.A.R. Labs if you want. It's my building."

"It's cool," Cisco shrugged. "I mean, it's not, but I don't know how I was ever going to tell you otherwise. I know you wouldn't judge me for it, but I just couldn't stop thinking about what Thawne said, about these being a gift of his love."

"It happened because he murdered you in an alternate timeline, I don't think he ever gets to say that," Barry said.

"I guess," Cisco said.

"We must make a pair," Barry said. "You see too much and I can't see much of anything."

Cisco leaned against him with a soft smile Barry could feel against his arm, and Barry sat back and sighed.

"I have no idea how I'm going to explain this to Captain Singh," Barry said.

“I'll help you,” Cisco said. “You’re not alone, Barry. I promise.”
