I looked at the sun peaking out of the sharp mountains of ice, illuminating the quiet morning of Ooo. The next stop in my travelling journey was the infamous Candy Kingdom, which was ruled by Princess Bubblegum. I've heard a lot about her growing up, always wondered if I can meet her someday. Perhaps it was the time. As I slowly approached the gates of the kingdom(which I assumed it was also made out of candy) Two banana guards emerged from the shadows, blocking my way.
"Intrucduce yourself traveler!" Banana guard yelled. "Y-Yeah!" And another banana guard added. I gave them my ID which they stared at it for a while.
I was starting to get nervous after a couple minutes passed but they finally handed my ID back. "We actually dont know how to read." Banana guard explained "But you seem like a good pal!" the other banana guard continued. They backtracked, leaving the gates of the kingdom open to me. I laughed in disbelief and stepped in.
The town was full of decorations and colorful stands, which why I was here for. There was an festival, something about celebrating the creation of candy kingdom. Lots of candy citizens were out in the streets, either buying, selling, or happily talking to each other. There were a lot of outsiders as well, I quickly realized after catching a glimpse of the Ice King. I grimaced and decided I'd stay away from his way.
After visiting a few stands of sellers and buying stuff, a trumpet sound began. I looked at the source and lo and behold, there it was the ruler of the candy kingdom. Princess Bubblegum. She was donned in an reddish pink dress, her long heavy hair almost sweeping the floors. She had her shiny golden crown on top of her head. This was my first time seeing her, after hearing a lot of stories about her. Everybody talked about how generous she was. Everybody talked about how awfull she was. But nobody could've prepared me for the absolute beauty she were. She was miles away from me, but I could see her shining right away. I urged to go further in the crowd to get a better look but everyone must've thought of the same, I couldnt move a lot. In the stage with her, there was a young boy with a yellow dog behind her, and a little peppermint/butler candy person. They were probably her guards.
The little candy helper handed her a microphone and she began to spoke. "All citizens of the candy people and the beloved visitors! Welcome to the annual Candy Festival! It is pleasure to see such many faces take interest in our kingdom. Please enjoy yourselves! I will be visiting the festival everyday this week for an hour." An applause erupted from the crowd as Princess finished her speech. I wondered about this hours she talked about where I can meet her.
I decided to visit more stands and shop for a while. In the corner of my eye, I saw the young boy who was on the stage again, talking to Ice King. This was my chance I thought, to ask about visiting the princess. Though I was not giddy about having to talk ice king too. I waited a while to see if I can catch the boy alone, but it seemed like he was quite popular, always having someone beside him all the time. I decided I'll fuck it and go talk.
As I started walking towards them I started to hear the convo they were having.
"-not sure if you want to hear this, Ice King." The boy stated with an displeased voice. " but I'm pretty sure you are banned from visiting the princess hours."
"WHAT!" Ice king gave a cry of pure shock, as if the soul concept of that was a crime against humanity. "Why?? I didnt even tried to kidnap her for a week for this!"
The young boy pinched the bridge of his nose "Ice king. A no is a no. Or you'll get grounded for 6 months this time." He tried to reason with him.
"You cant do this to me Finn!" Ice king whined.
"Oh yes I can!" Finn yelled back.
I decided asking Finn for visiting hours after he said no to Ice King was a stupid idea, so I beatedly continued looming around the festival.
"Ugh. Who want to visit her anyway! Where they could be visiting, me!" A cunty voice caught my attention while I was shopping for some daggers. I turned around to see who that voice belong to. It was a lumpy purple...thing? Who was eating cupcakes looks like that finn guy. Ooo was a strange place that's for sure. I urged to go ask her where I can visit her, despite feeling like I was about to put myself in a stupid situation.
"Hey uh. Do you know where and when I can talk to the princess?" I asked with a little bit of a dread of what was gonna happen next.
Lumpy girl caugh off guard and started choking on her finn cake but quickly recomposed herself.
"Well, you can talk to me right now or whatever." She said condecendly while rolling her eyes. I gulped and said "Ahm I mean. Like. Uh-" right before I could finish my sentence, Finn emerged from nowhere.
"Are you looking for PB or something?" Thank glob. I nodded and he started walking me towards somewhere else, somewhere away from the lumpy girl at least.
"Thank you so much." I had to share my gratitude. "I've been trying to know when and where I can met her" Finn dude nodded at me.
"Well it just has been started now, it should be alright to go. She is waiting in front of the castle." He said. And something mustve caught his attention in the crowd he said "you go ahead, I'll catch you later"
I began marching towards the castle, where the Princess waits. Each step made me more nervous, but in a good way. When I arrived, she was just talking to this foreigner. I got in to the short line that has just started forming. She was even more beautiful from near I absentmindedly thought.
Even though the line was short, it felt like an eternity to wait. Each person really took their time with the princess. When there was only one guy left in front of me, that was when I started to get really nervous. My hearth felt like it was about to burst out of my chest. That thought made me uncomfortable for some reason? I was more closer to her than I've ever been now.
It was time for the guy in front of me to go and he went ahead. Weirdly, he was wearing a cloak that covered most of his body, not that there were much to cover anyway. The guy was short, short
The princess did her regular greeting to the stranger. "Welcome, dear visitor! It is pleasure to meet your..uh" the princess trilled off upon realizing this dude hasn't been show off his face. Her face was stuck between a kind and welcoming smile with suspicious eyes and furrowed brows.
The unknown visitor however, was not phased by this at all. "It is my pleasure princess. To have the opportunity to meet you....again."
"What the hell are you talking abo-" princess cut herself with a loud gasp after the guy showed his cloak away, revealing beneath that he was a...hearth shaped guy? I didnt know. I could only see his back, which was really unfortunate that he wasnt wearing pants.
"You!!!" Princess exclaimed in shock.
"Yes! It is me! I've promised that I'll be back, and now our longing is over princess...It is I, Ricardio!" I confusedly watched the scene unfold beyond me. I did not know what the guy was talking about, but by the reactions from princess alone, I did not trust the guy a bit.
Princess looked around for something, or like someone, but whoever she was looking for they were not found. "Guards!! Take him away!!" She yelled to nowhere in particular with a firm voice. But no one responded to her calls. "Guards?" The guy started to laugh.
"The old fool took care of them all!! And right after he finished the job, I emerged." Princess shook her head in displease. "I swear to glob.."
My confusion quickly took over by alarm as Ricardio launched himself towards the princess. Without even registering what happened, my body responded as I quickly pulled out my sword and threw myself in front of the princes, and swayed my sword. Ricardio took a step back with a grimace. He was injured.
"Guh.. this canr be.." he took several steps back. "I will come back-!!" Without even managing to finish his testimony, Finn and multiple banana guards emerged and tackled him to the ground.
"Princess!!" Finn exclaimed running towards her. "Are you okay?? "
Princess, still seemingly trying to register what happened, slowly nodded. "I-I think so. Thanks to this brave swordswoman" Finn turned towards me at the mention and noticed the bloodied sword on my hands.
"You! Did you saved the princess? That's awesome!" I shyly nodded "uh-"
Before I can say something, ice king crawled out from the bushes.
"Uoghh..."
"Ice king!" Finn yelled groundingly.
"I didnt even do anything Finn..! He just hopped out of me like nowhere!" He whined
"Like I'd believe that! You are grounded for a year!!"
"NOoOoOo" ice king howled miserably. As the scene was rolling beside me Princess lowered her gaze to me. My hearth started beating faster in my chest.
"Thank you so much for saving me.."
"Y/n" I said with a small smile.
"Y/n." She smiled at me too. The way she told my name made a blush creep towards my cheeks. "To honour your bravery, you get to wish one thing from me, my kingdom. And I will make that wish come true." I gaped at her stupidly. She was honoring me...with a wish? I looked away to think about it and realized we had an audience waiting at my response.
"I wish to spent the rest of the day together, your highness." I blurted out without even thinking, and only the implications of my words dawned on me seconds later. The princess, looking equally appalled as the crowd, said "As in...a date?"
"Sure" I didnt know what gotten into me but I was feeling braver than i ever was in my life. With her face so close to me all I can think about was her and her essence. And as blurthed out the words i become more confident that I wouldnt want anything else in this world right now.
Princess nodded at me. Banana guards gasped excitedly, while the yellow dog patted Finns shoulder supportingly as he wore a crestfallen look.
"Your wish will be granted."

"Most people would have kill to spend a day with me." Princess started "You are one of the lucky ones" she smiled at my way.
"It is an honor, princess." I smiled back.
"Call me Bonnibel please."
We slowly began walking around the tower. The Princess has changed her outfit now, wearing a simple pink dress with a flower hair clip. Her crown is still attached to her head as always. She is beautiful than ever. For me, I am still in the clothes I once came here. Such a shame but it was better than nothing.
She stopped at the edge of the tower and gazed at the kingdom. I stood beside her and started looking at the view too. This was not my first date with a woman at all, but with a woman like her, feeling nervous wasnt a choice.
"Such a beautiful view" I said.
"Yeah. I still remember the early times of the kingdom" princess reminisced fondly, until something made her grimace with disgrace. She is full of mysteries, I absentmindedly thought. I thanked glob for giving me this chance of getting to know her more.
"What was it like back then?" I asked.
She sighed.
"It was hard...but I managed. Making candy people definently made me feel like I wasn't doing it all for nothing." She explained. "Making..?" I asked dumbfoundedly.
"Candy people are made in a lab, by me."
"Oh" I internally screamed at my dumbness.
"Do you have other lab projects you are working on?" I managed to change the subject successfully. By my question, she lit up excitedly
"Yeah actually, wanna see?" I nodded enthusiastically and we began walking inside. She escorted me through various corridors and stairs and we were finally in front of this door. "Wait a second." She took her lab coat out of a locker, put her glasses on and tied her hair up.
"Alright let's go." She said before realizing I was staring. A small blush formed on her already pink face.
"I always do this before I step into my lab, it feels wrong to not do so." She explained sheepishly. I laughed and took a lab coat from the locker too.
She began touring the lab to me, explaining what each machine does, her latest inventations, and what her future projects are. I just listened her in awe. I knew she was a smart woman, but she was not. She was a genius.
She was showing me her latest gadget when my stomach growled loudly much to my dismay. She began laughing meanwhile I slowly resembled a tomato.
"I think we need to grab something to eat." She said teasingly.
"Why would you think that" she began laughing harder as we walked outside the lab.
She asked peppermint butler to prepare our food instead of eating outside. Apparently Princess dating wasnt a regular occasion, and people would make a big deal out of it. I began dreading the consequences of the all high and mighty speech I made to the princess in front of everyone.
We began our lunch on the back tower of the castle, away from eyes. It was quite romantic. We ate our meal, which was candy, while chatting.
"The guy I slayed earlier...who was he?" I asked in the mids of our meal.
Princess grimaced "Ice King's hearth, Ricardio."
I had a lot of questions but princes had more to say. "We actually met couple years ago before I knew. He wanted to cut open me and be with my hearth, but luckily I was saved by Finn and Jake beforehand" I stared at her in shock. Upon seeing my reaction, she swayed her hands dismissively. "Oh dont worry it's fine. Plus, if he tried to do something like that again I have a brave hero by my side to protect me." She said with a look.
"Mhm. Finn is young but he seems tough." I said back. Princess dumbfoundedly stood there for a while before saying "I was talking about you." with a laugh.
"Ah." I realized it was a flirtatious look. "Uh. Thanks" I said awkwardly and wanted to bury myself 6 feet under. She mustve been find it amusing, she continued laughing after.
We finished our meals and began walked toward nowhere in particular until Princess decided she'd took me to her secret hangout place. I didnt know what that was, but went along with her anyway. I was getting confused when she opened the cabinet door and ushered me in. Then she swiped the hanged coats and it revealed a secret passage.
"This is a place where I go when I want to relax and get away for a while." She began explaining as we pass through the tunnel. The room was not flattering in particular and I wondered which part of it would be calming to hang out.
"Hold on a second- TIMMYYYYYY" Princess started yelling with a high pitched voice towars the empty space and a massive half white half pink cat emerged from nowhere as a response. Princess hugged the cat tightly and hopped on it. She patted the spot behind her and I begrudgingly hopped on it too. The moment it began jumping around I immediately clinged tightly to princess, hugging her without thinking. The cat, Timmy, stopped after dashing through various tunnels. Princess hopped off like it was nothing, while I had a hard time managing standing still. I tripped over my own feet and started falling. But right before my face met the ground, she caught me in her arms. My senses were overwhelmed with the sweet smell of her perfume, or maybe that was just her scent. Whatever it was, it wasnt doing good things to my brain. I dizzly got up with her help.
"T-thank you." I managed to say while trying to make my legs work.
"Im sorry y/n... I always do this so I didnt thought you'd get motion sick from this" Princess said, still not yet letting me go. With her face so close and looking so apologetic like that, I couldnt form a intelligible sentence and just nodded instead. She held me after a while until I get steady. I wondered if she could hear how hard my hearth was beating. When she finally released me, I let go off the breath I didnt know I was holding.
"Let's go" she said and I finally looked around my surroundings. The cat bring us at the top of the building, where it opens to a secret garden. We step in to the freshly mowed grass, our surroundings filled over with beatifull spring flowers. As we began walking, I took a white lily from the bush and carefully tucked it in her bublegum hair. She smiled at me coyly.
I realized the sun began to set as we sat down on a bench. I snucked a glance at the princess and my breath got caught in my throat at the sight. She looked beautiful under the sunset, orange pink blue hues highlighting her best features. She had the cutest pink hue on her right now.
She mightve realized I've been staring, she turned towards me with a small smile.
"This has been the most fun I had in a while" she began. "Thank you for wishing that, y/n."
"No, thank you for taking time out of your precious time to spend it with me prin- Bonnibel." I said.
"You finally called me with my name."
"I did"
Somewhere in the distance, birds chirped away, a slow wind began tussling with our hair. She scott closer to me and began to do the same. Face to face now, I could feel her breath tickling my nose. I began to say something, but all of it was lost after she pressed our lips together gently. I kissed her back, endolding as much as I can with her taste of bubblegum. After seconds felt like hours, we parted away. We began watching the sun fading away at the distance, and she put her head on my shoulder.
"Um, Bonnibel?"
"Yes?"
"Can you grant one more wish?"
"Mhm" she smiled at me knowingly.
"I want to spend the rest of my life with you."

From then on, you and bonnibel become a couple. You left your traveling job and started living in the candy kingdom, becoming her full time guard. She did a few lab tests on you, you fought ice king a lot, you kissed each other in secret. You two decided it was time to make it offical after a while. And you stood beside at her until the last day of your life. She sat next to your bed and held your hand at your last moments.
Maybe you were a little fraction in her life, but she was your whole world.
