A Class day at Wizzro's

Summary:

A simple day it was with all the Interns sitting outside, ready to practice using the Echo Rod after Nabiu used it successfully.

But who said using one is easy?

Or: A Slice of life after Canon at Wizzro's class!

Notes:

THANKS FOR MY FRIWND BETA-READING IT, YOU HAVE SUCH A BIG VOCABULAR

I pretty much wrote this one since I don't got any ideas and need to write the other first...SO IF YALL GOT ANY REQU3STS, I MIGHT DO EM

Work Text:

“Alright, Interns. I want you all to get your prototype Echo Rods out.”

The voice of Wizzro was calm and composed as he spoke to his students, starting a new lesson.

After giving Nabiu the Echo Rod, having entrusted it to her provided she use it carefully, just to hear back that she accidentally threw trees into the air, shoved enemies through walls, saved a grandma, and adventured an entire campaign with it to find his chair, Wizzro saw some potential in giving it to other interns; perhaps for practice, perhaps for the very much needed protection factor regarding the priorly listed events.

Maybe using it just outside of the woods could make the other Interns more interested in learning if they use a tool ALL by themselves!

That's why they stood right outside the home he lived in, sitting on tree stumps whilst listening to their Mentor on how to use this staff.

Wizzro internally hoped they wouldn't try to fight with it.

In the back, Nabiu had sat down on a tree log just to watch. Beside her, Karoto was leaning on it, resting his arms and watching the old man do his work with a quiet sigh, his green ‘hair’ simply slumped down.

After the whole adventure, Karoto had the slightest change of heart, deciding he wouldn't steal the chair! …buuuut he still got caught for his crimes by the broccoli guard. Somehow though, the blueberry convinced the broccoli army to let the thief do community work for Wizzro!

…Which sounded dumb, sure, but it was better than keeping the claustrophobic carrot in a cell to later be visited - and it meant having another helper and friend around the house.

“This is boring,” Karoto muttered under his breath, as he slowly kneeled down on the grass, using the wood log to lay his head down onto his arms and relax a bit, “I don't know how you concentrate on all this so easily.”

Nabiu briefly looked over to the tired thief, simply chuckling to herself as she adjusted her blue cloak and watched her Mentor without any care in the world. “I think it's rather easy! But that's probably because I love magic!”

The soft snickers that came from his small sibling-like-figure did get his attention a bit, bringing the smallest of smiles to his face as he proceeded to watch the little kids whilst Nabiu propped her hat up.

Currently, the kids were playing together with their different-coloured Echo Rods, lifting up rocks and sticks happily, sometimes even lifting up their hats as they ran around while Wizzro kept watch.

They seemed to all have fun, but one specific little intern with a white mask had an interesting idea.

Perhaps if they used a bigger object like a log, everyone would be impressed by the sheer weight of the thing they’d lifted up, like Nabiu, and they'd be congratulated!

So, with a lot of determination, they looked over to the only real log that was there… which had Nabiu and Karoto on it, peacefully talking to each other about anything at all.

Eh, they'll just fall off, it's fine!

With a quick tug, they pulled out the green Echo Rod, pointed it toward the log with absolutely no anticipation and lifted it in the air, leaving everyone watching in awe!

Well.

That was supposed to happen.

But no one ever said that this kid was really aware of how to properly pinpoint what they wanted to lift up into the sky, especially not on specific heights.

So, instead of properly lifting up the log (perhaps even with Nabiu and Karoto on it), they instead caused Karoto to develop a sudden green glow, making the carrot look down at himself-

“Wha- whyyaaAAAAAAAAAA-”

-And get thrown into the air at mach 50 speed.

Nabiu flinched as the knock-back sent her flying into the right direction, yelling out to her friend lost into the atmosphere of the globe, “KAROOOTOOOO-!”

Nabiu looked rather flabbergasted, staring up at the sky as the other interns stared up in pure awe and Wizzro looked like he questioned his life decisions.

The small Intern who was responsible for the whole thing simply shrunk a bit down into their cloak with their tentacles shriveled like dried-up noodles.

Sadly, nobody could do anything but wait, so that's what they did.

For almost 30 minutes.

Some things happened in those 30 minutes.

Wizzro had a small talk with the kids that they should make sure to always have an open area for practice and a single object, so they don't accidently take another person with the Echo Rod.

They reassured the small green intern, who was currently looking rather ashamed, that it wasn't their fault and that they were just trying things out, but were warned not to do it again.

And Nabiu was sadly sitting down on the grass, hoping that her friend would come back down to mother earth and only be half as flat as a pancake.

But instead of her friend returning by falling from a far height after the 30 minutes passed-

Presence tipped off by the sound of heavy armor approaching, Karoto came back, held by his jacket by the big broccoli knight that chased the thief in the first place, shaking in his grasp and coughing.

The broccoli held the carrot like a frail burger, his whole hand big enough to almost fit Karoto entirely into it and squeeze him firmly, as if he was just a small potato without any significance.

He also dropped him like a dumb potato.

A wheeze came from Karoto as he fell from the ground and onto the soft grass, indirectly complaining as Nabiu checked up on him by kneeling down. “I fell… FOR TWENTY MINUTES-!” It was forced out with the sound of a squashed lung.

Nabiu quietly mouthed a ‘thank you’ to the knight, the broccoli man simply giving a polite nod back as the clattering of heavy armor faded out with him leaving.

They were rather kind, all things considered.

Karoto groaned as he sat up with the help of Nabiu, holding his chest - massive bags of hay in some random old carriage didn't feel that nice when you hit it at high speed.

At least the knight took more notice of his situation other than seeing the thief do it on purpose, so he offered to carry him along, and with his hurting stomach?

Karoto gladly accepted.

The intern in green who previously threw Karoto up into the air came over, silently apologizing under their breath with heavy sweat running from their face.

Normally, the carrot would have angrily stared at them, probably would have berated the small kid for being so stupid as to throw him in the air- But… Karoto wasn't any better in the past.

He once experimentally put fireworks into a chimney, so Karoto couldn't judge at all.

So, with slight reluctance, the carrot forgave the horrified child, giving him only the slightest stern stare as they ran off, very nervously lifting small rocks again.

Wizzro chuckled softly, with Nabiu only secretly joining in as Karoto grumbled under his breath.

This was a daily class at Wizzro's.

You really COULD expect anything.
