Work Text:
Cerise Hood was the daughter of the famous Little Red Riding Hood who was her mother. Her mother was in the tale called “Little Red Riding Hood and the Big Bad Wolf.”
Because of this, she was to follow in her mother’s footsteps and was destined to be the next Red Riding Hood.
She was the protagonist of this story and the antagonist of her story was Ramona Badwolf, daughter of the Big Bad Wolf.
As expected to be the daughters of their parent’s enemies meant that she and Ramona Badwolf were enemies. After all, Ramona was destined to be the next Big Bad Wolf just like her father.
Simple right?
That’s what most would say if you asked Cerise because it was her destiny.
Now Cerise was well aware of how the story is supposed to go. Her mother hands her a basket of baked goods and has her delivering them to her sick grandmother. Her mother tells her to stay on the path to grandma’s house and to be careful. She goes out and encounters the Big Bad Wolf who asks Cerise where she is heading off to and tells the Wolf where she is going and who the baked goods are for. The Wolf then breaks into her grandmother’s house and eats her then disguises itself as her grandmother. She walks in and won’t be able to recognize her grandmother and then the Wolf eats her too.
That’s all. The last bit of her story however genuinely terrified Cerise because nobody wants to get eaten by a Wolf. What a cruel way to die.
That’s not the only reason though. Cerise has never told anybody except for Raven Queen, daughter of the Evil Queen and was one of Cerise’s closest friends.
Why? Because the Big Bad Wolf was actually Cerise’s father, which meant Romana Badwolf was actually her big sister!!
Crazy isn’t it??
Her sister was her mortal enemy, she was the one who would devour Cerise and their grandmother
This also means that Cerise and Ramona were never meant to exist. It was…wrong, as most people would say. If they found out that Little Red and Badwolf eloped and had hybrid kids. They would flip their crowns and lose their heads!
It was depressing, it really was. It was beyond frustrating too because Cerise and her mother had to pretend that her father and Ramona were enemies. They were meant to hate each other and never to be together.
Cerise and Ramona had to be at each other’s throats on a daily basis which didn’t help considering deep down they loved each other more than anything else in the world. It was hard to hate your sister because siblings are never meant to hate each other. But unfortunately, Cerise and Ramona’s case is different. Very, very different.
Cerise also had to hide her ears which weren’t regular human ears, they were wolf ears, exactly like her father’s and her sister’s. Cerise loved her ears, they made her who she was. She remembers the first time her mother told her she had to hide her ears, she was very sad and didn’t understand at that time why.
She also had to hide her wolf side. Since she was part wolf she possessed some wolf attributes like her father that she had to have control of. Sometimes her eyes glowed yellow when she was angry. She sometimes growled too when she felt threatened and would protrude claws when she felt as if she was in danger.
Now Cerise was older, so now she knows why and the consequences it would bring if people saw them.
When Ramona had returned to Ever After High after she subsequently got her kicked out and sent to reform school, she and Cerise almost got in a brawl and would’ve escalated if it weren’t for their father. Their father had told them that until graduation their secret wasn’t to be revealed.
Until graduation he said. Cerise was almost about to graduate from high school. A part of her was excited about her secret being revealed so that she didn’t have to hide herself anymore under her hood. However, another part of her was scared for the hurtful things they would say to her when they found out. They would probably call her a “bigot” , an “abomination” and many other things. For Cerise and Ramona were never meant to exist.
Personally. Cerise never understood why she and Ramona had to hate each other when people like Apple White, daughter of Snow White were supposed to be enemies with Raven Queen became friends instead. Why did she and Ramona have to hate each other and not be friends?
It would’ve made their situation a whole lot easier that way. Because their daily routine was exhausting.
Cerise could only hope things will turn out ok in the end. She hoped she and her family would be accepted. That’s all she wished for.
To be accepted.
