Work Text:

Copper-9 was one of the many planets Humanity colonized in this new age of space exploration, it was a simple mining colony and most of its surface reminded the colonists of either the northern half of the Rockies or Appalachian mountains back on Earth. But Copper-9 wasn't as simple as it looked on the surface.

With in it there laid many secrets, such as a secret lab hidden under a mine witch was used as cover for all the resources shiped there, such as the great quantity of Drones, such as the purple haired, Russian speaking Drone Yeva.

Yeva's days in the labs for the most part where boring and monotonous, either being locked up most of the day or having to endure horrific experiments that were inhumane even when done to Drones. But luckily for Yeva there were people that made her day's more bearable, such as her two Friends Nori and Alice.

Who compared to her more stoic and composed nature were a lot more energetic and weird but it's what she liked about them, after all they were her weirdos.

And the only other person she liked was a Human named Mitchell off all people, he was the nicest of all the Humans working at the labs, that is to say he was the only nice one.

So it wasn't a surprise that all the Drones that were experimented in the labs either felt fear or anger for all the humans but one, Mitchell was the only one they all could agree on having positive feelings towards.

But Yeva, she felt strange about him and she couldn't really figure out why, she did like him, she knew that much after all he was the only Human to ever treat her well. But she also felt anxious and nervous around him, angry and sad when ever she saw him talk to other people in the distance and lonely when he was away for too long.

Try as she may, she just couldn't wrap her head around it. "Pochemu on vyzyvayet takive chuvstva?" her throughs where cut short as she could hear a familiar voice call out to her.

"Hellooooo, Copper-9 to Yeva! Girl you in there?" Nori called out to her friend, both her and Alice stood in the middle of the hallway looking worried as Yeva seemed to have gone autopilot.

Yeva looked at them and remembered that she was walking with them before loosing herself in thought "O da, izvini. Prosto dumayu.".

"Well now I'm curious, what got ya thinking so deeply? Alice asked curious about what could get Yeva to lose focus on them.

She didn't answer right away, debating if it would be worth it telling them but then she figured what did she have to loose if she did tell them "Mitchell.".

"Mitchell?" Nori asked, her confused facial expressions and turning of her head betraying that she didn't know who that was.

Alice simply rolled her eyes "The nice one, dummy.".

"Oooh, him! What about him?" She asked as she continued to have her confused facial expression.

"Ponimayete." Yeva began as she turned her head from them to look to the side "Ya prosto chuvstvuyu sebya tak stranno ryadom s nim, Ya rad yego videt' i volnuyus' odnovremenno, Kazhetsya, temperatura moyego tela povyshayetsya ryadom s nim no ya takzhe chuvstvuyu sebya odinokim, kogda yego net ryadom.", unknown to her as she spoke her visor displayed a little blush.

Alice and Nori gave each other a quick look before turning to face Yeva again with a smile on both their faces. Nori put her hands together and brought them to her head "Aaaw, Yeva has her first crush!".

"Chto!?" Yeva turned to look at the two when she heard what Nori said, her blush grew bigger as she gave them a look of confusion.

"You heard what she said red eye's, ya are having your first ever crush!" said Alice as she made her way to Yeva and placed a hand on her shoulder.

"Ne smeshite vas dvoith, on Chelovek a ya Dron. Kak eto voobshche budet rabotat?" Yeva lifted her hand to politely take Alice's hand off of her before crossing her hands, she still couldn't believe what these two were saying.

"Oh come on Yeva, it's not as ridiculous as it sounds." Nori stepped closer to the two other Drones.

"She's right Yeva, there's plenty of Humans that wouldn't mind a Drone as their partner!" Alice added to Nori's statement.

"Mitchell, vozmozhno, samyy priyatnyy chelovek zdes', no eto ne znachit, chto on odin iz nikh." She replied to them, looking at the ground.

She tried her best to keep a stoic expression on her face but Alice and Nori both could see the hurt in her eyes. Nori placed a gentle hand on Yeva's shoulder "Hey you don't know that for sure.".

She looked to Alice for assistance but saw her looking to the side, before she could say anything Alice turned back towards her and her visor displayed a text.

[Quick Norstar, look to the side!]

Nori was naturally pissed, here was their friend clearly hurt about the fact that their first crush much not love them back, and she wanted her to look somewhere else.

[This better be good or Else!]

Nori looked to see who else but Mitchell across the hallway and better yet he hasn't noticed them. As soon as she turned back to Alice she was met with a smug smile and text saying.

[Else what?]

[BITE ME!]

Was Nori's quick response before turning back to Yeva, "Look Yev's I know it can be scary but ya gotta take some risk, so uhh. Sorry.".

Yeva looked at her confused about the 'sorry' but before she could ask about it she found herself in a free fall to the ground as the two quickly made their way around the corner.

"Chertovy suki!" Yeva said through her grinding teeth as she lay on the floor, she tried to get up intend on finding them and making them pay but she froze dead in her tracks the second she heard the voice of Mitchell calling out to her, "Ya deystvitel no ub'yu ikh!"

Mitchell rushed over to her as soon as he heard her hit the floor, and once he reached her he got on one knee and reached out to her to help her get up "Are you alright Yeva? That looked like nasty fall.".

Yeva didn't say anything as he helped her up, her feelings just felt worse now that Alice and Nori told her why she was feeling this way around him, to make it all worse he was holding her hands with his large and soft hands.

"Yeva, are you ok?" Mitchell was a bit worried that she didn't answer him, she simply just sat there not saying anything.

Yeva on her part freaked out a little realizing that she was just staring at his hands like a creep, "Izvinite, ya byl prosto. Ruki u tebya myagkiye, ne takiye, kak moi metallicheskiye." her gaze shifted to the ground and a small blush former at the edges of her visor as she brought her hands closer to herself.

Mitchell looked at Yeva and recognized that she was a bit self-conscious about her hands, so he reached out to again take them into his ones and spoke "Da, ruki u tebya metallicheskiye, no eto neplokho! Ikh tverdost', elegantnost' i dazhe komfort.", his Russian wasn't the best, his pronunciation left a lot to be desired but it was intelligible enough enough.

Yeva didn't move or response, she simply looked in shock and awe as she for the first time heard anybody other then herself speak Russian, a few seconds of silence passed before Yeva opened her mouth "Ty govorish' po-russki?".

Mitchell got a bit flustered and moved one of his hand to rub the back of his head "Y-Yeah, I thought it must be lonely to be the only one speaking it. So I try learning some, I probably sounded really bad though. He he.".

Yeva had a warm smile form on her face as she thought that maybe Alice and Nori were right, "Ey, Mitchell, raz mne bol'she nechego delat', kak naschet togo, chtoby pomoch' tebe vyuchit' eto?".

"Oh! Y-y-Yeah it love that!" He replied with a massive blush that had been hidden under his mask.

As the two would get up from the ground and make their way somewhere more suited for their Russian lessons, Alice and Nori looked at them from behind a corner. They gave each other a fist bump, satisfied with seeing their friend accept her feeling and choosing to be happy.
