Golden eyes lock onto Amethysts

Summary:

Just a silly little vampire AU I made because I got bored

Notes:

A few things before we start is that this is my first fic so please be gentle and any advice is welcome (just don’t be mean about it) and keep in mind I’m making this up as I go so there may be a few potholes anyway enjoy!

Chapter 1: Chapter 1

Chapter Text

As Thad walked down the steps of the high school a brief blob of purple and black caught his eye before vanishing behind the corner of the school into an alleyway

 

“Hm? Yo, Nathan, you see that?”

Thad said as he turned to the much taller human who had just been staring off into the sky as he slowly walked down the steps

 

“See what?” Nathan responded looking down at Thad with mild curiosity

 

“Guess i'm.. just seeing things, then…”

“Mmm…” came the only response that he would get as they kept walking down the steps and starting down the sidewalk and to Thad's house.

Meanwhile around the corner of the school a short, purple haired girl quickly bites into the neck of a perfectly nondescript background character staying like that for a few moments before dropping the to the ground leaving them in a crumpled heap on the ground

“...They should be fine”

The short girl proceeded to scale the brick wall onto the roof of the school and disappear into the night.

“I'm telling you, man, I saw somethin…”

Thad insisted as he sat down next to Nathan on the couch while handing him a game controller.

 

“I don't know… your probably just seeing things again.”

 

Thad simply sighs as he boots up the console and slips in a disk beginning the game as the two begin to play Halo:CE for the next few hours before pounding could be heard at the door with Nathan getting up to open the door revealing a not very happy looking women wearing a business dress with a tan undershirt and long silver hair pulled back into twin ponytails staring up at Nathan.

 

“N! YOU WHERE SUPPOSED TO BE HOME 2 HOURS AGO!”

The shorter woman yelled at him as Nathan flinched back looking down at the floor.


“S-Sorry J…”

Nathan said sounding much more reserved and much quieter than he was a few minutes ago with Thad

“Good now come on.”

 

The now named “J” said as she started walking to an expensive looking still running car with a person in the driver's seat as “J” gets in the back seat with N giving a small wave to Thad as he leaves closing the door behind him while he continues to look at the ground getting in the back seat with J, mentally preparing himself for another one of J’s scoldings.

 

“...take us home.”

J barked at the person in the front seat who starts to drive off with no speech, and as they get on the road, J, publicly known as Jaquelyn, starts to glare daggers at Nathan who just shrinks into himself.

“I-”

Nathan started before getting sharply cut off by J.

“NATHAN WHAT THE HELL!”

Nathan quickly recoiled at her ferocity before trying to stammer out a response.


“I-I can explain”

J, having none of it right now just kept yelling at him ignoring his response.

“YOU WHERE SUPPOSED TO BE HOME 2 HOURS AGO!”

Nathan just sat hunched down in his seat hunched down staring down at the floor with him slowly tuning out J’s continued yelling at him, but what all of the people in the car failed to notice was a small purple and black figure watching the car slowly drive down the street.

“That looks like an expensive ass car…”

 

Uzi said to herself watching the white car drive down the road before sliding down the rooftop she was currently perched on and jumping to the ground. She sprinted to an apartment complex, which after she reaches she goes to to stairwell checking around her briefly before opening a small door and stepping in shutting it behind her, entering a surprisingly spacious room with a beanbag chair set up facing a small TV, and an air mattress with a few blankets and a worn pillow stuffed into a corner with a digital alarm clock on a nightstand next to it, reading 11:24 PM

“Well, that's breakfast taken care of…”

Uzi said to nobody in particular as she flopped down onto the beanbag chair and turned on the TV, quickly turning on some anime to pass away the rest of the night.

Chapter 2: Chapter 2

Chapter Text

Uzi looked down over the road from atop the school's roof, waiting for the school to let out for her to drop into the crowd for her next meal. Thankfully she only had to wait a few more minutes before the bell rang out and students started to pour out of the schools doors, and Uzi, seeing an open spot, managed to drop down without being noticed, trying to single out a loner to get away from everyone else. That was before she felt somebody tapping on her shoulder before she whips her head around and golden eyes lock onto amethysts. Uzi just looks up at the tall golden eyed stranger.

“Hi, are you new to this school?”

 

The stranger asked, sounding way too enthusiastic for Uzi's liking.

 

“Uhhhh… yea?”

 

She responded, not entirely sure as the stranger stared at her, seeming to doubt her answer for a moment before he snapped up.

“Well, I’m Nathan, but most people just call me N! What's your name!”

The now introduced N said with a bright expression on his face

 

“Uhhh… Uzi… I’m just gonna go…”

 

She said, pointing off and starting to try and make her way through the crowd. However, N was being annoyingly persistent as he followed her through the crowd, having a much easier time due to his much taller stature. And as soon as Uzi got through the crowd, she ran for it, quickly running down an alleyway and scaling the wall, just in time for N to see her run away.

Thad ran around the corner just in time to see a familiarly shaped purple and black blob run off before he stopped clearly out of breath

“W-what what was that”

Thad breathed between gasps of air looking up at N as he does so.

“I'm not entirely sure…”

N responded still looking at where Uzi had vanished over the ledge

Uzi ran all the way back to her little hideout under the stairs, not even bothering to check for people, before heading inside as she starts to freak out about nearly getting caught and collapsing into her beanbag chair, clearly exhausted.

“And I didnt even get something to eat… I hate sleeping hungry.”

Uzi grumbled staring at the ceiling in thought, mostly thinking of just how nice Nathan had been.

 

“Stop thinking about him. He could just as well be your next meal.”

 

She said mentally slapping herself as she gets in her bed her mind still wandering back to Nathan before she once again snaps herself out of it putting on some anime to try and distract herself.

“You good man?”

Thad said looking up to N as they walked along the street to Thad's house.

 

“Yea. why?”

N said looking down at Thad snapping out of his thoughts.

 

“You’ve just been unusually quiet… you're usually very talkative”

 

Thad said looking, a little worried about N.

“Yea just thinking about a few things… anyway that’s your house see ya man”

 

“What your not hanging out for a while?”

 

Thad responded looking a little surprised 

 

“Sorry, you know how mother father and Jaquelyn can be… and I already was pushing it last night”

 

“Alright see ya at school then”

 

“Bye Thad!”

 

Nathan waved off, starting to walk home himself.

Nathan starts to walk up the steps of a large old manor before opening the large and heavy wooden door stepping inside slowly closing it behind him being quickly greeted by a medium height and well toned woman

 

“Oh hey, V!”

 

“Hi, N.”

 

Victoria greeted him flatly… 

 

“You know mother is not very happy with you…”

 

“Yeah I know… I got a bit distracted when I was with Thad…”

“Yeah, at least you're home early today.”

“Yup! Anyway, good to see you V!”

Nathan said as he started to go up the stairs and walking to his room quickly going inside doing his best to avoid Louisa and James. As soon as he got into his room he flopped down on the bed, his mind trailing off to the short purple girl he had, if ever so briefly, met outside the school.

 

“...how did she even get up there…”

He said to nobody in particular as he trailed off into thought, before being sharply dragged out of it by a ding from his phone. He quickly pulled it out to see a text from Thad.

 

The night quickly faded into a conversation between the two of them as Nathan did his absolute best to avoid the scrutiny of his parents.

Chapter 3: Chapter 3

Uzi being a bit of a gremlin

All throughout the next day Nathan was looking for Uzi and noticeably not seeing her amongst the crowd as he exited the hallway.

 

“Hang out at my house today?”

Thad said as he looked up at N

“Sorry. Can't tonight.  Mother and father aren't too happy with me…”

N said, looking down at the floor slightly as they walked down the front steps of the school.

“Dang, well, see you tomorrow then!”

Thad started to walk to his house away from Nathan, leaving N to walk home alone and after a few minutes his phone dinged. 

Out of habit he pulled out his phone, checking it expecting a text from Thad, but getting one from an unknown number.

 

???:>:3

Nathan: who is this?

 

???:Uzi

Nathan stopped in his tracks, looking around him.

Uzi looked down at Nathan from the roof, people-watching was a favorite hobby of her’s…and no it's not stalking, again, it's people watching.

 

Anyway, she loved seeing how freaked out he looked and she quickly jumped down from the second story rooftop, landing with barely a thud and no injury.

 

She poked out from behind the house and quietly went up to Nathan, a wide grin on her face.

Nathan was still frantically looking around before he felt a tapping on his shoulder. 

And as he whipped around, there was Uzi.

 

“H-How did you get my number?! A-and how did you find me again?!”

 

Uzi just looked up at him a gremlin smile on her face, her lips parting for a small moment but just long enough for N to catch of a glimpse of her very to large fangs

“Dont worry about it”

She said with a smug smile but N was clearly doing the opposite of “don't worry about it”.

 

“THAT DOESN'T EXPLAIN ANYTHING!”

N all but yelled having a bit of a mental breakdown.

 

“Re lax, man just having a bit of fun, no big deal,”

Uzi replied with a small eye-roll.

 

“YES IT IS A BIG DEAL!”

 

N said clearly freaking out,

 

“Anyway, N you headed home?”

 

It takes N a bit to respond as his breathing slowly starts to slow down before he finally responds.

 

“Y-Yeah…”

 

He says slowly starting to walk again, And Uzi has to nearly jog to keep up with N’s long stride



“Slow down!”



Uzi yells after him before he looks at her over his shoulder struggling to keep up as he shortens his stride enough for her to keep up with him much easier, the two of them walk to the old manor but just before the gate onto the extensive lawn N stops



“Mother and father dont like unannounced visitors… so going to have to say bye for now…”



N said sounding sad that uzi cant come inside with him.

 

“Alright then, see you around”



Uzi said giving him a small 2 finger salute before walking off as N headed into the manor and almost straight to his room doing his best to avoid his parents.

Uzi quickly made her way back into her small home under the stairs of the apartment building before plopping herself down on the beanbag as she begins to laugh like the little gremlin she is before pulling out her phone and texting N

 

Uzi: hey

 

N:...Still wondering how you got my number

 

N responded after a few minutes

 

Uzi: >:3

 

N:... you're not going to tell me are you?

 

Uzi: Nope!

 

N:...I didn't see you at school today. Where were you?

 

Uzi paused for a moment

 

“...shit... I didn't think of that”

 

She cursed to herself as she began to run through ways to explain how she wasn't at school, because no matter how old she may actually be she still looks like she should be in highschool… grated a very short one but a highschooler nonetheless. In a moment she finally responds to him

 

Uzi:I'm homeschooled

 

N:Then why were you at school yesterday?

 

Uzi is nervously sweating as she looks at her screen… wait why does she care so much? She doesn't need friends! … even if it was nice to have somebody to talk to.  

 

Uzi: Oh I was just visiting it to maybe enroll in it, homeschooling isn't great

 

N:Oh, maybe we could be classmates!


Uzi:maybe.

Uzi started to think about it a bit more, it didn't sound all that bad, she would get to talk to N a bit more, and maybe make a new friend, … if nothing else more dumb high schoolers for food. The conversation drifted off topic as the two passed away the night and uzi was smiling a bit for the first time in a long time as she had the first proper conversation with somebody since she can remember.
