They hadn’t ever talked about it, but they were always actively Not Talking About It.
This looked something like a crowd of people, N and Uzi weaving through it, Uzi grabbing N’s hand, and then the crowd dissipating, and neither of them letting go. They hugged more often than N suspected most friends did. They had fallen asleep side-by-side in the same bed more times than he could count. Sometimes, it looked like talking on the couch late into the night – so tired it made him feel drunk – and then somehow they’d not be talking anymore, just looking at each other, Uzi’s dark eyes wide open and sweet, the world spinning on everywhere except this moment, which could be a million moments or just one, but certainly one that they weren’t ever going to talk about.
Maybe they could have, once, but ever since Uzi had shared her secret with him, that option had gone out the window.

Hovering her left hand over the options, Enid selected one of the three glazed donuts, taking a generous bite of the ring-shaped breakfast pastry.
“Actually, maybe I do. Some of these could use a little bit more glaze,” she thoughtfully added, licking her lips to get the excess sugar.
Wednesday shamelessly stared at Enid’s mouth as her girlfriend’s tongue slid over her soft, plush lips. “I am not going to ejaculate on the donuts.”
