Bruce knew exactly who the red haired woman approaching him was. He wasn't supposed to know her but nonetheless he did. He had made sure that he would be able to recognize Natasha Romanov if she were to ever appear. The former red room agent turned government agent was trying to make it appear as if she wasn't heading for him, yet that was the only thing she could be doing. Slowly she was making her way across the room in a pattern meant to look random, but each time closer to where he stood.
The person he was talking to left and no sooner than that then Natasha was in front of him.
"Hello," he said. "Enjoying the party so far?"
"I am," she said. "There are some very interesting guests here."
The look she was giving him said that he was the interesting guest. Which didn't surprise him given her wanting to talk to him. It did answer the question of if SHIELD had figured him out. He had suspected that they had and were just biding their time before making contact.
"There are. And one of the most is standing right in front of me."
"I could say the same thing."
To anyone outside their conversation it would look perfectly average. But they were in their own world.
"What brings you to this event?"
"The chance to talk to you," she said. "I have been wanting to for a while."
"Oh have you now?"
She gave him a sly smile.
"Enough that I took vacation time to come to this. Nobody but you knows where I am. Or why I would want to meet you."
He raised an eyebrow. That was unexpected. This was an unofficial visit then.
"And I would love to talk more in private."
