Chapter Text
Look, it wasn’t like he wanted to do it. Having his little girl at home was all he had ever wanted, but she needed to learn that not everything in life would be handed to her. Maybe this was a bit extreme, but he feared he was raising an entitled brat, and he simply couldn't allow that.
The Lehan family was wealthy and lived in the big city, but Mr. Lehan had grown up on a farm, where he had developed a strong work ethic. As he got older, he became interested in the business world, which eventually led him to leave the farm behind and start several successful companies. Although he didn't grow up poor, his family wasn't particularly wealthy either. Every morning, before the sun fully rose, he would help his father with the farm work. After school, he would complete his homework and then get right back to work on the farm. Despite his dedication, he always felt that the farm wasn’t where he truly belonged. So, when he was old enough to leave, he moved to the big city. There, he met a wonderful woman, and together they had three daughters: Alice, Alexandra, and Amanda.
Raising three girls had never been a problem for him, despite never having had sisters of his own. But something just wasn't right with Amanda. They were arguing more frequently, and she was becoming increasingly distant. She refused to do any chores around the house and would lash out at the cleaning lady over the smallest mistakes. His worst fear had come true: he was raising a child who felt entitled to everything. Desperate for guidance, he wrote to his father, asking for advice.
“I understand this is a hard decision to make, my boy, but I promise we’ll take good care of her. I have two wonderful stablehands who will take her right under their wing. It may seem harsh, but believe me, a summer at the farm will do her wonders. Write back when you’ve made your decision.
Send Margot my love.
Luis Lehan.”
After much deliberation, Mr. Lehan made his choice. Amanda needed to learn the value of hard work so she would appreciate the people around her. A summer at the farm might be just what she needed, even if it put a strain on their relationship. But Mr. Lehan was willing to make that sacrifice; his daughter's future was more important to him than her current opinion of him.
“Father, please prepare a spare room. Amanda will be arriving on the first of June.
Thank you,
A. Lehan.”
